Khairy diberikan jawatan dalam pentadbiran PM Najib?

Anak-Bapak: Rekod sokongan terbanyak hingga terburuk keatas BN, hanya dalam temphmasa satu terma pilihanraya umum sahaja

Khabar angin mengenai Ketua Pemuda UMNO yang kontroversi YB Khairy Jamaluddin akan diundang kedalam pentadbiran Perdana Menteri VI Dato’ Seri Mohd. Najib Tun Razak sebagai seorang Timbalan Menteri amat marak, terutama dikalangan pemimpin Pemuda UMNO peringkat menengah. Bermula dari sebuah portal, kini ianya mendapat perhatian media arus perdana.

Laporan Utusan Malaysia:

Khairy Jamaluddin dilantik timbalan menteri?

KUALA LUMPUR 8 Dis.

Menurut portal Malaysia-instinct.com, pelantikan itu kemungkinan menjadi kenyataan jika perletakan jawatan Timbalan Menteri Pelancongan, Datuk Seri Sulaiman Abdul Rahman Taib diterima.

Kepimpinan UMNO wajar mengambil tindakan atas aspirasi orang Melayu mengenai Nazri

Semenjak media perdana mengutarakan Menteri diJabatan Perdana Menteri Nazri Aziz menyifatkan Presiden UMNO V Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad sebagai “Bloody Racist” kerana mempertahankan modul BTN apabila polemik itu ditimbulkan musuh Melayu seperti PKR dan DAP dan bloggers mendesak Nazri dipecat dari Kabinet dan MT UMNO melucutkan keahlian UMNO beliau kerana ‘Mengkhianati Bangsa Melayu’, Kepimpinan mula mengambil perhatian keatas gelombang emosi Melayu terbaru ini.

Timbalan Perdana Menteri Tan Sri Muhyiddin Mohd.

Laporan Utusan Malaysia:

Label Dr. M rasis agak terlampau

TOKYO 8 Dis.

*********

Walaupun Kepimpinan Negara (Perdana Menteri Dato’ Seri Mohd.

Sekali lagi, kami mengulangi desakan serious bahawa:

NAZRI AZIZ WAJAR DIPECAT DARI KABINET DAN MT UMNO WAJAR MELUCUTKAN KEAHLIAN UMNO BELIAU

Nazri Aziz makin biadap!

Laporan The Malaysian Insider:

Nazri: Dr M is ‘father of all racism’

Nazri said he would never resign because of the former PM. — File pic

By Asrul Hadi Abdullah Sani

KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 9 — Minister in the Prime Minister Department’s Datuk Seri Nazri Aziz attacked Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad again and called the former Umno president the “father of all racism” as the row between the two men over the controversial National Civics Bureau (BTN) continued.

Nazri criticised the former prime minister for being a hypocrite and said: “Who does Mahathir think he is?”

“If he can comment on others, why can’t I comment on him? Who is he? People kept telling me that he’s been in the government for 22 years. Yes but that’s not right for him to abuse people the way he abused the former PM. You mean to say he was the former PM for 22 years he can do anything he likes? I cannot agree and he’s no longer in the government.

“Last time he told us you must support the government. He was a perfect PM, I never complained. It was only after he retired, he started to attack us. He used to tell us, if one day we become a candidate and if we are dropped, we should not be angry because once that person supported us, now it’s time for us to support them.

“What is he doing now? We all supported him before through thick and thin and yet when he retired, he attacks us even worse than the opposition. Today the opposition doesn’t need to do work. Dr M is the only one attacking us. Everything is not right. During Tun Abdullah’s time, everything was not right but he’s a gentleman, he didn’t argue. Now with Najib, there is something wrong. Does he (Mahathir) want to become a PM?” Nazri told reporters at the Parliament lobby.

Nazri said he would never resign because of Dr Mahathir.

“When he wanted to resign before, we told him not to but he wanted to step down. Now he has stepped down, he’s asking me to resign. What for? I’m not going to give him the pleasure of resigning to make him happy because I’m not stupid to fall into his trap,” he said.

Nazri pointed out that if he belongs to a racist party, then Dr Mahathir is the “father of all racism” because he was the president of Umno.

“He’s saying I’m in a racist party so he confirms what I said about him. If he says I’m in a racist party because I’m a member of Umno, then he is the father of all racism, he was the president of Umno for 22 years. It confirms that I said he was a racist. Please give him some other argument lah. As the ex-PM, he should give better suggestions. I feel sorry for him but I will continue,” he added.

Nazri maintained that he was not being disrespectful of Dr Mahathir but pointed out that the former premier should accept that he is also open to criticism.

“This is democracy and free speech. I meant no disrespect to him. It’s just counter-argument to his criticism. There is no need to write to papers to say I’m disrespectful. This is a way out of the argument. Although he is an old man, he got himself involved in a matter that invites criticism from others. Don’t say when I criticise him, I’m being rude,” he said.

He added that Dr Mahathir also criticised the first prime minister, Tunku Abdul Rahman.

“When he criticised Tunku Abdul Rahman, that’s not rude? He taught me. If he does it is OK, but if we do it then it’s rude? In the 1960s he criticised the then PM, so if people do it now, don’t get angry. He’s my teacher,” he said.

Nazri also wondered why Dr Mahathir did not like him since the former premier was the one who appointed him a minister.

“I didn’t force him, I didn’t put a gun to his head and force him. He knows I’m a good minister and I’ve been a minister for three terms. Each time a new PM takes over, there are rumours that I’ll be dropped. I’ve been a minister for 10 years. I only serve the rakyat,” he said.

The former premier and the minister in the Prime Minister’s Department have been at loggerheads over the need to revamp the BTN, which critics charge with cultivating racism instead of its original purpose of nation building.

Nazri had earlier called Dr Mahathir a “bloody racist” for defending BTN courses while reasserting the Cabinet’s earlier decision to overhaul the programme in line with the policy of 1 Malaysia mooted by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak.

Nazri also lashed out at Dr Mahathir yesterday and described the former premier’s call for his resignation from the party as the “most stupid statement” that he has ever heard.

Dr Mahathir said that Nazri should resign from Umno because if he was against racism, he should not be in a racist party.

BTN Courses Not Political Indoctrination – Muhyiddin

MUAR, Nov 26 (Bernama) — Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin denied claims that courses run by the Biro Tatanegara (BTN) or National Civics Bureau were a form of political indoctrination, saying they were to inculcate nationalism and unity among the people in line with the 1Malaysia concept.

“BTN courses are not for ‘converting’ participants to Umno and Barisan Nasional (BN). There are no ulterior motives; these courses are well-intended,” the Deputy Prime Minister told reporters after presenting cows for the Aidiladha in Pagoh, here on Thursday.

He said that members of the public and employees of private companies should not be stopped from attending courses organised by the government’s agency.

He added that the Selangor state government and Menteri Besar Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim were given a wrong impression on the courses run by the BTN.

Muyhiddin, who is Umno deputy president, was commenting on the decision by the Selangor government yesterday, barring state civil servants, students in state-run higher learning institutions and employees of state government-linked companies from attending courses organised by the BTN, effective immediately.

State Education, Higher Education and Human Capital Development Committee chairman Halimah Ali was reported to have said that courses run by the BTN were an indoctrination process by the BN and that they created racist phenomenon.

Muhyiddin said the Selangor menteri besar had no right to stop federal civil servants, members of the public and staff of private companies from attending BTN courses.

He said that federal civil servants were not subject to the directive issued by the state government.

“Show me under what law the Selangor menteri besar can do that,” he said, adding that the BTN would continue holding such courses.

“If Selangor does not want to participate, it’s okay; but we cannot stop the people from learning about 1Malaysia, about nationalism and unity,” he said.

On the Aidiladha, which will be celebrated tomorrow, Muhyiddin said the spirit of sacrifice should be appreciated and internalised.

At the event, Muhyiddin presented 31 cows for tomorrow’s celebration.

He also wished all Muslims in the country, including those who are still performing the haj in Mecca, a happy Aidiladha.

Nazri calls Dr M a racist for defending NCB

By MAZWIN NIK ANIS and JOSHUA FOONG

KUALA LUMPUR: Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Seri Nazri Aziz has called Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad a racist for defending the National Civics Bureau (NCB) training modules.

Nazri said that while he agreed with the former prime minister’s sentiments about patriotism, he felt it was not the sole rights of the Malays.

“There are many of those who came out from the course very angry as many have felt that terms like Ketuanan Melayu (Malay supremacy) is ridiculous.

“When he was prime minister he asked everyone to think as Malay-sians. Now that he is not, he’s asking everyone to think otherwise.

“If you want to talk about patriotism, it is for all,” he said when asked about the issue at Parliament lobby yesterday.

Stressing that he disagreed with any syllabus that concentrated only on one community, Nazri wanted the Opposition to point out which part of the proposed revamp of the training modules they were unhappy with.

Nazri also reminded the Oppo-sition that some of them had been directly involved with the bureau.

“Selangor PAS commissioner Datuk Dr Hassan Ali was a former bureau director. Sungai Petani MP Datuk Johari Abdul was also once a bureau officer.

“Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s father-in-law was formerly involved with the bureau as well,” added Nazri.

Meanwhile in Cyberjaya, Dr Maha-thir described the criticism levelled against the bureau’s modules, which had been around for more than 20 years, as mere exaggeration as nobody who had attended the programme had complained about it.

“The participants had always found the courses useful because they taught about new cultures and new values like discipline, honesty and to reject corruption. I don’t see what is wrong with that,” he said after witnessing the signing of an agreement between RHB Islamic Bank Berhad and Joyful Gateway Sdn Bhd on the construction of a green building.

Dr Mahathir said that when Malaysia’s history was discussed, it would be mentioned that this country was once called Tanah Melayu.

“Now it is Malaysia because we have people who have come to settle down here. That is a fact of history. You can’t deny facts and history. But if we can’t even mention that, then we are denying history,” he said.

Dr M dare to Nazri: Resign from ‘racist’ Umno

KUALA LUMPUR: Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad has challenged Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Seri Nazri Aziz to resign from the ‘racist party’ Umno.

The former prime minister said Nazri “belongs to a party that is only meant for the Malays and no one else can join in.”

“He is a member of a racist party and he is anti-racist so he should just resign from Umno,” Dr Mahathir said after giving a keynote address at a seminar on Malaysia-Indonesia economic cooperation.

Dr Mahathir was responding to Nazri’s comment that he (Dr Mahathir) ‘is a racist for defending the National Civics Bureau (NCB training modules.’

“(He) must be right if he said so,” said Dr Mahathir.

“I must be a racist if Nazri says I am racist. Don’t ever say that I am not. He knows everything,” he added.

Dr Mahathir had previously said criticisms against the NCB modules were exaggerated.

The course, he said, should be retained as it taught valuable history lessons and instilled good values such as discipline and integrity. Nazri however reiterated his stance yesterday that the NCB should be revamped as patriotism was for all Malaysians regardless of race. He said the syllabus should not focus on patriotism for one community alone.

Kadir Jasin sued by Zaid Ibrahim

When bloggers made a lot of progress in news breaking and scoops, especially the ‘cover ups’ and gross abuse of power of the ‘establishment’ during PM ‘Flip-Flop’ Dato’ Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi’s time, bloggosphere especially socio-political gained the luxury of exponential growth in readership and popularity.

Bloggers colour Malaysian mainstream political scene when the urbanites and educated Malaysians made drastic voting pattern changes based on the writings in the blogs and multiplied the influencing effect. As such, urban seats such as Klang Valley, Penang and Selangor saw heavy losses to BN during the 12th General Elections. BN unprecendentedly lost 5 + 1 states on the 8 March 2008 ‘Doomsday’.

There were also attempts and structural effort to silence these new media. The most high profile case was NTSP dragging Supremo Blogger Ahirudin “Rocky” Attan and Jeff Ooi to court (the case is till on going).

May 2008 saw Fourth Prime Minister Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad jumped into the new media foray and suddenly bloggers gained new wind and a huge breadth of fresh air. More and more expose’s and commentaries are made to reflect the professionals, educated and urbanites’ feelings of the socio-political surroundings. The days of taking bloggers to court has thought to be ended.  More affluent Malaysians, which include top politicians now began to take bloggosphere very seriously. Gone were the days of taking bloggers to court, so many have thought.

Then this. Supremo-Journo-turned-blogger Dato’ Kadir Jasin now is being sued by Former Justice Minister Senator Zaid Ibrahim. What Zaid is trying to achieve is unclear. Obviously, since joining PKR, Zaid how has been infected with the  acute ‘Suit Syndrome’ that only Former-Abuse-of-Power Anwar “Mat King Leather” Ibrahim suffer. Anwar uses the court for media circus to gain attention as his stories are getting stale and he needed the ‘legal drama and sensation’ to keep his sordid politics alive.

Now Zaid has been infected with the Acute Lackofattentionitis dissease. His recent suggestion of making PAS Murshidul Am Nik Aziz as the Pakatan Rakyat Supremo drew a lot of flak within the tri-party ‘marriage of inconvenience between strange bedfellows’.

How far can Zaid go with this is also unclear. Obviously, he needed the media and legal circus to make himself ‘relevant’ to stay on visible PKR after being sacked by UMNO, now that his patron within PKR partyless-Opposition-Leader Anwar “Mat King Leather” Ibrahim has a high risk of being jailed for his second sodomy trial. For the record, recently High Court awarded Anwar with a RM 100,000 suit over NSTP, despite asking RM 100 million for it. This is probably Zaid’s inspiration.

For the record also, Zaid was the BN MP who as invited and appeared as a panelist in  the All-Blogs endorsed ‘Bangsa Malaysia’ forum, the first held to then Bloghouse in Damansara Heights. His openess for ‘new media’ and ‘alternative positive engagement’ was well accepted, especially for pro-Pakatan Rakyat bloggosphere avid readers.

This turn of event is really interesting. We are almost sure veteran-journo-blogger can defend hismelf at this game. The ‘circus’ that Zaid will create for himself will not improve the public perception on a failed-spent-bullet, which gone to ‘cry baby’ in Anwar’s camp.

BTN Curriculum To Be Revamped In Line With 1Malaysia Concept – Nazri

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 30 (Bernama) — The cabinet has agreed to revamp the syllabus of the controversial National Civics Bureau or Biro Tatanegara (BTN) courses, in line with the 1Malaysia concept, said Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Seri Mohamed Nazri Aziz.

The cabinet’s decision last week was made to ensure it was acceptable to all races and not just one racial group, he said.

“We have to change the curriculum. Now its 1Malaysia. The previous curriculum is not inline with what the Prime Minister (Datuk Seri Mohd Najib Tun Razak) wants.

“It is important for the courses to be inclusive of all races, as the government now stresses on racial integration,” he told reporters at the Parliament Lobby here Monday.

The BTN issue came to light when the Selangor government barred state civil servants, students in state-run higher learning institutions and employees of state government linked companies from attending courses organised by the BTN, effective last Wednesday.

The BTN had come under heavy criticism from opposition leaders, especially leaders in Selangor who had urged the state government to ban attendance on the ground that the content was a tool to spread “Barisan Nasional and Umno political ideology and racial politics”.

Penang had also indicated a similar action, just like Selangor.

“I believe Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Mohd Sidek Hassan has directed BTN to do the necessary revamp,” he said.

Meanwhile, opposition leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said Nazri’s announcement today was in contrast with a number of claims by ministers.

“Some BN leaders have been claiming that the BTN was the best programme to nurture the spirit of patriotism and a commitment to excellence among all Malaysians but Nazri’s admission reveals otherwise.

“That means the BTN module needs to be revamped. I do not understand their objective but the BTN issue had been discussed several times before,” said Anwar.

Ini jelas bercanggah dengan kenyataan Timbalan Menteri diJabatan Perdana Menteri Dato’ Ahmad Hj Maslan, anggota pentadbiran PM Najib yang bertanggung jawab keatas BTN.

Laporan Utusan Malaysia:

Modul BTN akan dipertahankan

29/11/2009 5:19pm

KUALA LUMPUR 29 Nov.

Laporan Utusan Malaysia:

Tun M: Kekalkan modul BTN sedia ada

Oleh MOHD. ASRON MUSTAPHA

Dr. Mahathir Mohamad bersama Datuk Low Keng Kok dari KLASS Trustee (kanan) dan Pengerusi MAF, Prof Dr. Adeeba Kamarulzaman (kiri) serta Tun Dr. Siti Hasmah Mohd. Ali bergambar bersama kain rentang simbolik perasmian Hari AIDS Sedunia 2009 di Wangsa Walk di Kuala Lumpur, semalam.

KUALA LUMPUR 6 Dis.

WARISAN

Anak Kecil Main Api
Terbakar Hatinya Yang Sepi
Airmata Darah Bercampur Keringat
Bumi Dipijak Milik Orang
Nenek Moyang Kaya Raya
Tergadai Seluruh Harta Benda
Akibat Sengketa Sesamalah Kita
Cinta Lenyap Di Arus Zaman
Indahnya Bumi Kita Ini
Warisan Berkurun Lamanya
Hasil Mengalir Ke Tangan Yang Lain
Pribumi Merintih Sendiri
Masa Depan Sungguh Kelam
Kan Lenyap Peristiwa Semalam
Tertutuplah Hati Terkunci Mati
Maruah Peribadi Dah Hilang

Kini Kita Cuma Tinggal Kuasa
Yang Akan Menentukan Bangsa
Bersatulah Hati Bersama Berbakti
Pulih Kembali Harga Diri

Kita Sudah Tiada Masa Majulah Dengan Gagah Perkasa
Jangan Lalai Teruskan Usaha
Melayu Kan Gagah Di Nusantara (3x)

*************

“Kera dihutan disusukan, anak dibuaian mati kehausan”.

*Dikemas kini 1030pm

Menteri diJabatan Perdana Menteri Dato’ Mohd.

Nazri: Mahathir is racist

Hemananthani Sivanandam

KUALA LUMPUR (Dec 7, 2009) : Minister in the Prime Minister’s department Datuk Seri Nazri Abdul Aziz lashed out at former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, calling him a “racist” for saying there was no need to revamp the Biro Tata Negara (BTN) or National Civics Bureau training modules.

Speaking to reporters in Parliament lobby today, Nazri said while he agreed with the former premier that BTN is for instilling the patriotic spirit, Nazri said the patriotism should not only be for the Malays.

Mahathir said last Sunday that there was no reason for the BTN modules to be revamped and felt it was better to retain the modules.

“You must remember during his time when he (Mahathir) was the PM, he was talking about (how) we must all think as Malaysians, now that he’s not PM, (and when) you read his blogs, it’s bloody racist. I don’t like that.”

“He must be a Malaysian (regardless if) he’s a minister or not. He must walk his talk. Just because he wanted everyone to support him (then), you’re (a) Malaysian and the moment you’re no longer PM, you only talk about the Malays.

“I cannot accept his comments. I strongly feel the BTN courses must be inline with the 1Malaysia slogan by the PM,” said Nazri .

He also rubbished claims that the Cabinet decided to revamp the BTN curriculum due to Nazri’s call. A columnist (Awang Selamat) in a local weekend publication (Mingguan Malaysia) claimed the revamp of the BTN curriculum was due to Nazri’s call to be in line with the Prime Minister’s 1Malaysia slogan.

“It’s a cabinet decision. BTN’s allocation is mentioned in the PM’s department’s budget so it’s public money. Therefore, the money spent on BTN to have courses must reflect the 1Malaysia slogan by the PM.

“It should not only to raise patriotism among the Malays or Bumiputras.”

“Malaysia is for all races so I disagree with any syllabus which only concentrates on patriotism just on one community.”

“If they have a problem with that, I want to know what their problem is,” said Nazri adding the decision for the Cabinet to revamp BTN was done when the 1Malaysia slogan was introduced by the Prime Minister.

He also said the spirit of patriotism should be instilled in all races. Nazri in not too many words also agreed that the BTN courses promoted racism.

“You want me to lie? You (will) make people laugh. I mean there are people who attended the courses who came out very angry, so I want them to tell me where I went wrong in not supporting the revamping of the BTN syllabus,” added Nazri.

*************

Liow: IJN is a prized asset and not for sale

Health Minister Dato’ Seri Liow Tiong Lai made an announcement that IJN is a nation’s pride and it is not for sale. Any parties with the intention to privatise and profit from any form of privatisation deal should “Abandon their intention”.

Bernama.com has the story:

IJN, Priceless Asset And Pride Of The People, Says Liow

KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 5 (Bernama) — The government has no intention of selling its stake in the National Heart Institute (IJN) to outsiders because it is a priceless asset to the government and a pride of the people, Health Minister Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai said.

Hence, he said, any parties keen to buy IJN should abandon their intention.

“IJN is the pride of the country. The doctors at IJN, although not paid high salary, are willing to sacrifice to serve the people.

“We appreciate the doctors for upgrading health service in the country,” he told reporters after the opening of the Valve Summit 2009 by Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin here on Saturday.

Sime Darby had previously announced its intention to take over 51 per cent of the stake in IJN, but the move had to be shelved by the government due to protests from various quarters.

IJN is managed by IJN Holdings Sdn. Bhd and wholly-owned by the Finance Ministry.

Meanwhile, IJN chairman, Datuk Dr. Mohamad Salleh Ismail, said the media could play a role in discouraging would be buyers (of IJN) from pursuing their intention.

IJN is the first government hospital in the country to obtain accreditation from the Joint Commission International, hence placing the service at IJN on par with health institutions in other countries providing health service of international standard.

IJN deputy chief executive officer Datuk Dr Mohd Azhari Yakub said IJN obtained the JCI accreditation last week.

Besides IJN, the other hospitals with JCI accreditation in the country are Subang Jaya Medical Centre (SJMC), Prince Court Medical Centre, Pantai Medical Centre in Bangsar and the Penang Adventist Hospital.

Earlier, Muhyiddin, in his speech congratulated IJN for obtaining the international accreditation.

“With the achievement of JCI accreditation, the people of Malaysia and more importantly, IJN’s patients, local and foreign, will be assured of receiving the best quality health care that is internationally recognised.

” The accreditation has placed IJN in an elite league of healthcare institution,” he added.

IJN saw two phases of ‘privatisation proposal’, within a span of one year. The most recent one, came without much attention until we here at BigDogDotCom highlighted it. The attention caused the Federal Government to quickly review the proposal and decision made for the IJN to remain status quo.

Millions of Malaysians and tens of thousands more of CABGs are still dependent for IJN to serve them with the current subsidised mechanism.

To all who made IJN worked and millions of Malaysian lives preserved, we here at BigDogDotCom thank you with a big heart. Lets continue your noble work now that everything has been put to rest.

Malaysian foreign policy is back

It seems the Malaysian foreign policy is back. As a sovereign nation and member of the non-alligned movement (NAM), Malaysia has had her foreign policy ‘independent’ of the superpowers.

In the recent International Atomic Energy Agency meeting in Vienna, Austria, Malaysia voted as a minority voice against the call for Iran to be sanctioned for non compliance to Western demand of the de-’nuclear’isation of the Iranian nuclear development program, particular the enrichment of uranium.

Xinhuanet.com has the story:

Sanctions against Iran over nuclear issue not to work: president

www.chinaview.cn 2009-12-02 04:55:30

TEHRAN, Dec. 1 (Xinhua) — Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said on Tuesday that any sanctions against Iran over its nuclear issue will not work and the Islamic Republic can not be isolated.

”We have a great economy inside Iran … and sanctions are not such a big deal for Iran,” Ahmadinejad said in a live TV interview late Tuesday.

”They (the Western countries) need us more than we need them,” Ahmadinejad said, adding “It is only a psychological warfare and it is impossible to isolate Iran.”

The Iranian president also lashed out at the recent resolution passed by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) board of governors on the Iran nuclear issue, saying that the resolution “has no legal basis.”

The IAEA board of governors passed a resolution during a meeting on Friday in Vienna, calling for the “full cooperation” of Iran to clarify all outstanding issues involving its nuclear program and requiring Iran to stop construction on the newly-disclosed Fordo uranium enrichment facility near the central Iranian city of Qom.

On Sunday, the Iranian government ordered the country’s Atomic Energy Organization to build 10 new uranium enrichment sites in defiance of the latest IAEA resolution.

Ahmadinejad reiterated in his televised interview on Tuesday that the plan to build 10 new uranium enrichment plants in the country was not a “bluff” and Iran will fully pursue its announced projects.

He also noted that Iran did not have to inform the UN nuclear watchdog about its plans to build the new nuclear sites “unless the technology is imported.”

The IAEA move was its first adoption of a resolution against Iran after the one adopted in February 2006. The 35-member IAEA board of governors passed the resolution with 25 yes votes, three votes by Cuba, Venezuela and Malaysia against, six abstentions and one absence.

Russia was singled out by Ahmadinejad for criticism on Tuesday as Moscow was one of the 25 members of the IAEA board of governors who voted for the recent resolution on the Iran nuclear issue.

”Russia made a mistake (in voting for the resolution) as it does not have an accurate analysis of the current situation in the world,” Ahmadinejad said.

The consistency of Malaysia’s foreign policy as per previous prime ministers particularly Fourth Prime Minister Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad is apparent in PM Dato’ Seri Mohd. Najib Tun Razak’s administration.

Malaysia sternly took a stand, which definitely would be deemed as very unpopular especially amongst the pro-West. The stand clearly demonstrated that Malaysia is speaking on the principle that Iran has her right to develop her own nuclear programs. Considering that Malaysia voted against the proposal to sanction Iran’s economy (which will definitely deprive the people) along with anti-American states (deemed ‘rogue’ by the Jewish Neo Con controlled media) such as Cuba and Venezuela, the vote shows that Malaysia is free from being subservient to the West, especially United States of America. Otherwise, Malaysia might have abstained from casting her vote against Iran’s favour for fear of isolation amongst the Islamic countries.

This stance illustrated the return of Malaysia’s foreign policy, especially being vocal and champion for the right principles. During PM ‘Flip-Flop’ Dato’ Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi’s tenure, Malaysia shifted its foreign policy. The clear indication on the shift was when Kuala Lumpur hosted the ASEAN Head of Government Summit and as the nation host, we led the charge against Myanmar for the democratization of their political system. The ‘democratization of Myanmar’ is very much the flavour of the West, particularly the US and United Kingdom. As one of  the founding members of ASEAN, Malaysia defied the principle of ‘non interference into neighbours’ domestic policies’.

Malaysia also was ‘mild’ on her stance against Israel when the Zionist rogue state illegally attacked South Lebanon and inflicted a lot of pain and damages against the Non Combattant Lebanese and Palestinians in the summer of 2006. Then, it participated in the UN sponsored peace keeping force, primarily put in place for the protection of Northen Israel after the desctruction of Southern Lebanon and the Zionist Jews are afraid of the wrath of the oppressed people seeking justice’.

Malaysia’s stance against Iran being reprimanded for developing their own nuclear program is all about ‘a matter of principle’. The West, especially US and UK did not make any effort to reprimand Israel despite not only the development of their nuclear program since the 1960s, but the possession of nuclear arms. It is because they are pro-Israel.

*Update 1115am

Perhaps we here at BigDogDotCom is prematurely a little bit too enthusiastic on the ‘return of our foreign policy’. Apparently, the ‘return’ is as not what it seemed to be. Berita Harian news flash via sms stated that Wisma Putra recalled the Malaysian Ambassador to the UN for the voting in favour  of Iran against the proposal of sanction. “Improper procedures on  how the vote was derived”   were blamed.

The Star report:

Malaysia recalls its UN envoy over Iran nuclear voting

KUALA LUMPUR: The Foreign Ministry has recalled Malaysia’s permanent representative to the United Nations (UN) in Vienna for consultations over the passing of a resolution on the Iran nuclear issue by the Board of Governors of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in Austria last month.

The ministry’s statement here said voting on the matter was not in accordance with government procedures and that was why the representative was recalled.

The IAEA Board on Governors on Nov 27 adopted a resolution tabled by Germany on the implementation of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) Safeguards Agreement and the relevant provisions of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) resolutions 1737 (2006); 1747 (2007); 1803 (2008) and 1835 (2008) in Iran.

Malaysia, Cuba and Venezuela voted against the resolution while six countries abstained, one was absent and 25 adopted the resolution.

“Malaysia is studying the outcome of the resolution and its implications. We will endeavour to work together with the international community in moving the Iranian nuclear issue forward.

”In this regard, we will consult with members of the IAEA Board of Governors and other member states of the United Nations,” the statement said. – Bernama

**************

If Malaysia’s concern to be ‘politicaly correct’ and “work together with the international community in moving the Iranian nuclear issue forward” at the diplomatic level, then the Malaysian Ambassador to UN should have abstained from voting at the IAEA meeting. That would have been suffice, to put across our stand and not be seen as trying to be a ‘hero’.

However, Malaysia voted “Nay”, which is a very strong statement at the international diplomacy level. For Cuba and Venezuela to take that stand, they are already regarded as ‘rogue states’ by the West, especially United States.

Why the Ambassador to UN voted “Nay” is not clear at the moment. There could be communication breakdown on oour policy on the ‘Iranian nuclear issue’. There could also be an attempt to embarass Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Mohd. Najib Tun Razak at the international community level. Especially PM Najib has started to be ‘friends’ with US President Barack Obama.

Interesting development is that President Obama last week committted an extra 30,000 troops deployed into Afghanistan when part of his campaign and aspiration of the American public is for him to do otherwise. How Malaysia reacted to this new development is also unclear at this point in time.

A Chinese Chauvinists agenda to kill another Malay corporate player

The recent announcement of the new RM 628 million Matrade Exhibition and Convention Centre (MECC) off Jalan Duta by Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI) was taken on a political node by non other than DAP. DAP MPs demanded that the privatisation deal be scrutinised.

Malaysian Insider has the story:

DAP wants government to probe ‘free’ Matrade centre

The DAP wants the Matrade project suspended, says Pua. — File pic

By Asrul Hadi Abdullah Sani

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 26 — The DAP wants Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak to launch a thorough investigation into the proposed Matrade expo centre in Jalan Duta after the controversial RM628 million project was given to Naza TTDI in a building-for-land deal.

Yesterday, International Trade and Industry Minister Datuk Mustapa Mohamed claimed that the government was getting the expo centre for free and explained that building-for-land deal is good value for the Malaysian External Trade Development Corporation (Matrade).

DAP Petaling Jaya Utara MP Tony Pua however pointed out that Naza TTDI was being paid with 62.5 acres of land for the expo centre in a building-for-land deal.

“The usually composed and competent minister, fondly known as Tok Pa, must have had a moment of madness if the government will get Malaysia’s largest convention and exhibition centre ‘for free’ from Naza TTDI when the latter is being paid with 62.5 acres of prime land,” he said in a press statement.

The mammoth expo centre, being built on a 13.1-acre site in Jalan Duta here, is to be developed by Naza TTDI, a unit of the Naza Group, in exchange for 62.5 acres of state land at RM226 per square foot although the market value of the land could reach RM1.5 billion. The entire project will have a gross development value of RM15 billion.

The Matrade centre is estimated to be 90,000sq-m and set to be completed in 2013.

Mustapa explained in Parliament yesterday that government was saving money because Matrade is getting an expo centre worth RM628 million in exchange for the 62.5 acres of land valued at RM197 million.

Pua questioned why a reputable company would want to build a RM628 million centre for only RM197 million.

“The reply still leaves Malaysians completely flabbergasted as the minister expects us to believe that Naza TTDI, a private company belonging to the Naza Group which has milked billions from approved permits to import luxury cars via MITI, is so charitable as to build a RM628 million convention and exhibition centre at the price of RM197 million. If what the minister had said is true and accurate, Naza TTDI is in fact ‘donating’ RM431 million to the Malaysian government, and we should all be eternally indebted to Naza for its immeasurable generosity.

“However, the minister’s reply only raises more questions, for there must be a catch somewhere in the entire exercise. At RM197 million for the 62.5 acres of land means it is valued at only RM72 per square feet, which is unbelievably low for prime land between Mont Kiara and Jalan Duta,” he explained.

Hall Chadwick Asia chairman Kumar Tharmalingam recently revealed that the total gross development value (GDV) of all the projects on the 65 acres could reach to RM15 billion and therefore the market value of that commercial land of 65 acres is RM1.5 billion.

Pua argued that the government is actually paying more than RM197 million for the RM628 million centre.

“Hence, even by taking the conservative estimate of RM350 per square feet by the experts, which works out to a valuation of RM970 million for the land paid to Naza TTDI, the government is in fact paying RM342 million more than the stated RM628 million cost of building the Matrade Convention and Exhibition Centre! And if we take the higher estimate of RM500 per square feet, then the government is in fact paying in excess of RM870 million! Under such circumstances, it will not be wrong to say that it is Naza TTDI which has received land from MITI ‘for free’,” he said.

He also criticized Mustapa’s response that there was no open tender because Naza TTDI was the first company to propose the project.

“Instead of reassuring the public, this reply has cemented the fact that the Barisan Nasional government is addicted to cronyism for the Naza Group had intimate links with MITI having received hundreds of thousands of APs from the ministry. It is now clear that due to the connections of Naza, they were able to table the convention and exhibition centre proposal to the powers-that-be at MITI and, as a result, ensure that they will have exclusive rights to the project,” he said.

Pua stressed that the government must immediately launch an investigation and suspend the project until the findings are disclosed publicly to ensure transparency.

“Datuk Seri Najib Razak must immediately conduct a probe into the irregularities surrounding the project and make immediate rectification to ensure that the income for all its existing assets are maximised.

“He must suspend the project pending the investigations, and its outcome must be disclosed publicly to ensure that the final decision of the government is able to withstand scrutiny,” he said.

The DAP has been urging Najib to hold an open tender for the proposed Matrade expo centre.

Its leader, Lim Kit Siang, said the government should declassify all ministerial papers relating to the project and table them in Parliament to show that necessary due diligence has been done to ensure costs and profits were not inflated if it persists with Naza TTDI as the contractor.

The fact is that, DAP is politicising this ambitious but courageous RM 15 billion project new KL Metropolis Project which NAZA-TTDI has embarked upon. The facts that have been presented by DAP MPs in their argument for the Federal Government to scrutinise the land deal has been manipulated.

The 75.5 acres land which belong to Matrade has been privatised by the seasoned and successful property development corporation. In the deal, NAZA-TTDI was to built the RM 628 million MECC (not including the RM 100 million infrastruture works  will be requird for the complex) on the 13 acre site pro-bono and in return they get to develop the remaining 62.45 acres leasehold land at their cost. Of course, the development of the 62.45 acres KL Metropolis comes with a huge risk, financed totally via commercial intruments and exposure.

For MITI to fork out RM 628 million to provide the MECC Complex facility would be taxing on the taxpayers. The money is best spent on other development projects, especially social and economic development in nature. As such, this privatisation deal benefits the Federal Government more as NAZA-TTDI has to take a huge risk and fork out upfront a large borrowings to provide the MECC Complex.

The RM 628 million (plus an extra infrastructure cost of RM 100 million) for the MECC complex is an investment and financing that NAZA-TTDI has to fork out, manage and take the risk upfront, way before they could get their hand on the remaining 62.45 acres earmarked as KL Metropolis. To meet the specialised demand, the MECC complex will be constructed to specifications that would allow the ground floor to sustain a 5 tonnes/sq. metre load. On top that, NACA-TTDI  is making the exhibition hall column-free to accomodate flexible utilities often demanded by trade exhibitors and the net lettable area is 86,000 sq. metres. These features are by far making Kuala Lumpur a far more attractive exhibitors destination within the region.

As argued by blog Outsyed-the-Box, NAZA-TTDI is taking a huge risk to fully finance the MECC Complex and KL Metropolis Projects. The DAP claim of the 75 acres leasehold land is valued at RM 1.5 billion is simply outrageous and suspiciously, it is another precursor to more theaterics. The RM 728 million ‘land acquisition’ cost (the amount that the developer had to fork out upfront to build the MECC) for the 62.45 acres 99 year leasehold land earmarked for the KL Metropolis Project would be calculated at a gross cost of RM 267.61 per sq. ft. If the net buildable area is taken at 50% (which the remaining is often providing for infratsructure such as roads, ancillaries and services, lay-bies and green areas), then the land acquisition cost would be at RM 535.23 per sq. ft. This is a very pricey sum as the area currently is valued as per Kg. Segambut Dalam’s current market prices.

How did DAP calculate that the remaining 62.45 acres leasehold land  valued at RM 1.5 billion is baffling, which translate to a gross calculation of  RM 551.40 per sq. ft. or net at RM 1,102.81 per sq. ft.? Especially when the adjacent area is Kg. Segambut Dalam? DAP should the very least produce evidence of a land parcel of similar size within a 5km radius being transacted at the value of RM 551.40 per sq. ft.

Time and again, DAP has shown their true Chinese Chauvinism and politicising this ambitious and courageous MCEC Complex and KL Metropolis Project with manipulated facts. This privatisation is raised in a political tone mainly because the developer is a highly successful Malay corporation which benefitted from New Economic Policy, progressed from a trader-to-assembler, diversified into hospitality and services industry  and now into premium property development, a sector which is almost monopolised by Chinese corporations such as YTL, IOI, Hong Leong, IGB Corporation and Country Heights.

For the record, NAZA tookover once successful housing developer TTDI from receivership of Danaharta 7 years ago and took the  resructured corporation further. NAZA-TTDI acquired the premium land in KLCC and now developing the prized Platinum Park project.

When completed within 15 years time, KL Metropolis would create jobs and workplace for 60-80,000 people. 3 hotels are planned for the KL Metropolis. The master-plan of this project include a thorough traffic dispersal and public transportation program, which include tapping onto the Damansara Ulu Kelang Expressway (DUKE), STAR LRT and KTM Commuter systems. In a simple analysis, a projected GDV of RM 15 billion for a build up area of 2 million sq. ft. for the KL Metropolis Project within the next 15 years comes up to a mere RM 750 per sq. ft., which is failrly reasonable for a development project of that quality and utility.

We here at BigDogDotCom challenge for DAP to live up to its ‘Malaysian, Malaysia’ call, take the constructive effort of playing the ‘check and blance’ role to ensure that NAZA-TTDI deliver the MECC Complex within the specific time and quality. For the record, stated in the privatisation deal agreement if ever the developer incur more than the RM 628 million construction cost for the MECC Complex, then they have fully absorb it at their own cost. NACA-TTDI has to also provide a RM 628 million project bond inacse of non delivery withing the stipulated time frame. As is, the developer is absorbing the RM 100 million infrastructure cost, which include the re-site of an existing school in the 62.45 acres area.

If all, Malaysia be it the Federal Government, GLCs, corporations and NGOs should live up to once workable formula of ‘Malaysia Incorporated’ and support these ambitious and courageous MECC Complex and KL Metropolis Projects. It will add another progressive and productive commercial development with Malaysian characteristics and colour the skyline of beautiful Kuala Lumpur, a modern commercial and cultural hub in the region.

Aide in ‘trouble’ is NMY’s PolSec?

Recently, the mainstream media highlighted a Political Secretary of a ‘Senior Minister’ under a lot of Malaysia Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) scrutiny for “Amassing assets irregularly”.

The Star has the story:

Thursday December 3, 2009

Pol-sec said to have amassed wealth under probe

By LOURDES CHARLES

KUALA LUMPUR: A political secretary to a senior minister who is said to have amassed millions of ringgit in properties over a short period of time is under investigation by the Malaysia Anti-Corruption Commission.

It is learnt that investigators have obtained an order to seize and freeze several of the properties — including luxury cars and houses — besides freezing bank accounts to facilitate investigations under the Anti-Money Laundering Act.

Sources said the commission’s seizure list included at least four luxury cars and four houses which they believed belonged to the political secretary who is in his late 30s.

They said the commission was investigating the purchased properties — all in the Klang Valley — allegedly obtained from kickbacks received from the approval of several multi-million ringgit projects.

It is believed several of the properties seized were under the names of people believed to be proxies for the political secretary, and investigators would be calling on the people whose names were registered as owners.

Sources also said the investigators had identified several other people linked to the case and would also be calling them soon to assist in investigations.

Sources said a special team from the commission’s Putrajaya office started investigations about three weeks ago following information received that the political secretary was living well beyond his means.

It is learnt that investigation into the political secretary is among a few high profile cases the commission is investigating following reports and information provided by the public.

The commission’s officers declined to comment when contacted.

******************

It is strongly believed that the Political Secretary under investigation is Hasbie Satar. He is the PolSec to Minister in charge of Economic Planning Unit Tan Sri Nor Mohamed Yackop.

Recently, we highlighted Nor Mohamed’s follies here in BigDogDotCom, which attracted a lot of attention within bloggosphere. There is also a previous PolSec who has been charged on ‘money politics’ and the trial is on going.

If these investigations about a Pol-Sec of a ‘Senior Minister’ is true and MACC has enough evidence to throw the book at him, it would be a boon for Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Najib Tun Razak’s adminsitration and effort to improve the integrity of the powers that be. In his innaugral address as the seventh UMNO President on 28 March 2009 after UMNO via the AGM delegates endorsed the ‘takeover’ from PM ‘Flip-Flop’ Dato’ Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, a fight against corruption is one of the three top most agenda.

The rakyat aspire for more corrupt leaders and their closest aides to be weeded out from the party and administration and this exercise must be done timely. The integrity of those who are given the mandate and trust to lead and administer is paramount. Even UMNO leaders are impatient for the party to be cleansed, especially when the next general elections is expected is within slightly over two years time.

The development of this case would be an item to be closely watched.
