The 220th Conference of Rulers which convened in Kuala Lumpur want the issue of ‘Kalimah Allah’ be resolved immediately. HRHs as the Custodian to Islam vowed to protect the sancity of Islam, the religion of the Federation of Malaya.
NST has the story:
Rulers want issue over use of word Allah resolved immediately
2010/02/11
KUALA LUMPUR: The Malay Rulers, at the two-day 220th meeting of the Conference of Rulers which concluded today, have taken note of the various requests, letters and memorandums from Muslim organisations and individuals in the country which have expressed sadness over the translation of the word “God” to “Allah”. A statement issued by the office of the Keeper of the Rulers’ Seal today said the translation had caused much confusion and dissatisfaction among the people of Malaysia, particularly Muslims.
“This issue, unless resolved immediately, will undermine the sanctity of Islam and, possibly, security and public order as well,” it said.
The statement pointed out that Article 3 of the Federal Constitution provided for Islam to be the country’s official religion and the Malay Rulers to be the heads of religion in the states of the country.
“The Malay Rulers have the responsibility to safeguard the sovereignty and sanctity of Islam as the official religion of the country without neglecting the rights and religious freedom of the other races.
“The Malay Rulers give the undertaking to fulfill their responsibility to protect the sanctity and status of Islam,” it said.
The statement also said that the Malay Rulers felt that the incidents of damaging houses of worship were very dangerous acts of provocation which should never be allowed to take place.
“These treacherous acts driven by emotion must be stopped because all religions do not condone but condemn such acts.
“These are criminal acts which should be contained firmly and immediately,” it said.
In the statement, the Malay Rulers recorded their appreciation for the Royal Malaysia Police for their effectiveness in acting professionally to control the situation in maintaining security and public order.
“The Malay Rulers well understand the heavy responsibility they (the police) have to face, and urge that the efforts of the security forces in maintaining public order be fully supported,” it said.
The statement said the Malay Rulers took note that the issue over the use of the word “Allah” by the Catholic weekly magazine, Herald, was under consideration by the Court of Appeal.
The 220th meeting of the Conference of Rulers, which was chaired by the Sultan of Perak, Sultan Azlan Shah, discussed among other things matters related to religion, defence, security, and the appointment of judges of the High Court and Court of Appeal as well as members of the Education Service Commission.

Now it is up to Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Mohd. Najib Tun Razak to take up the call by HRH Rulers. In accordance to the Westminster style Constutional Monarchy, it is up to the Prime Minister to advise HM Seri Paduka Baginda Yang DiPertuan Agong on matters related to His Majesty’s position in office, as the Head of Islam and Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces.
Hence, it is timely that PM Dato’ Seri Najib sought an audience with His Majesty and present for the Conference of Rulers to issue a decree on the ‘Kalimah Allah’, which has now brought the nation and its entire social fabric into a near crisis situation. PM Dato’ Seri Najib should also instruct all Menteri Besars (which include PAS controlled Kedah and Kelantan) to present to their HRH Rulers on the same proposition so that this matter could be resolved once and for all.
A Conference of Rulers decree would solve an oustanding issue which could be dragged further even though it has been taken to court and efforts of consultation. Since Islam is the religion of the Federation of Malaysia and the Federal Constitution recognise the right of Non Muslims to practice their religion as long as it does not encroach into the right of the Muslims, then the decree of the Conference of Rulers is constitutionally appropriate. Where else, the Federal Government should in the same time gather NGOs which include religious bodies to a series of consultative node, jointly and separately, to promote better understanding and tolerance between the different faith. The position and sensitivies of Islam as the religion of the Federation of Malaysia based on the Constitution should be the primary referral point.
This move would not at all be seen as the Federal Government is incompetent to resolve the sensitive issue, as protectively feared by some hardliners. The Prime Minister would be seen as acting in accordance to the practice and provisions under the Federal Constitution to advise His Majesty for a decree by the Conference of Rulers.

Malaysia is again seen as the champion among the Muslim countries as she is succeded in defending the God’s name from the inavsion of non Muslim.
Selain dari Agama Islam dan kedudukan Raja-Raja Melayu, Najib must always remind himself over and over again that:-
1. Bahasa Melayu is the national language (not mandarin, hokkien, cantonese etc) – SO SPEAK BAHASA KEBANGSAAN IN PUBLIC !!!! biar ada social ethic sikit, biar beradab!!
2. Malay culture is the CORE culture for Malaysia
3. Negara in negara MALAYSIA, berteraskan MELAYU!! sebab itu dinamakan MALAYSIA!
4. ORANG MELAYU & BUMIPUTERA is the son of soil and the majority. JAngan terlalu tunduk dan mengalah kepada salakan-salakan minoriti yang kurang ajar!
5. AND THAT, he is currently the PRESIDENT OF UMNO, PARTI POLITIK YG MEMPERJUANGKAN NASIB ORANG MELAYU !!! Bukan bagi muka kepada kaum yang menyalak dengan meminggirkan orang Melayu!

Hehe.. how ironic…
Are you insinuating anything here, especially against HRHs?
Please take this back openly or we will revoke your privilege to share your thoughts in here, permanently. You have 24 hours to comply.
This is a stern warning!
I am not going to commment anything further on this. But just open what utusan et al wrote back in zaman mahathir, and everyone should know what we are talking about.
Tun mahathir knows more than I or you do…
This is the kind of stubborn, don’t-care-what-others-feel or say, inconsiderate fellow. He simply is not bothered about retracting his statement. Adds some more fuel by referring to Utusan, etc.
Fellows like this are in that crowd which finds anything they can use to put down the Establishment. They try to fish in murky waters, try to benefit from instability and disorder. The less this kind is around the better for Malaysia.
It’s so heartening that TRH the Sultans issue the statement. I support the call for the issue of a decree.
“This issue, unless resolved immediately, will undermine the sanctity of Islam and, possibly, security and public order as well,” the statement said. It praised the Police but has not said anything about what the Government should do. No doubt the case is under appeal but can something not be said of the “on-going dialogue” referred to by TS Muhyiddin?
The Government should have had the dialogue before the case was brought to the Court in the first instance.
Now that a dialogue was said to be ongoing, can the Government not do anything to get the matter resolved – not necessarily in an open manner. This is an instance where lack of transparency may be allowed – communicate, persuade, negotiate quietly.
TRH the Sultans are the protectors of Islam, the official religion of the country. They are also the protectors of the people; the Malays who form the majority of the population need their attention. That the Malays appear to be sidelined in favour of the others and Malay interests encroached upon in recent times – liberalisation, 10% places in MARA Colleges given to others, now talk about doing away with the entire MARA organisation itself – these also require the attention of the Sultans. No doubt they act on advice but HRH Sultan Perak, being a former Lord President, would know areas where they, individually or in the name of the Rulers Conference, can exercise their discretion.
Junjung Kasih Tuanku. Dengan berkat Allah SWT kebenaran dan kesejahteraan negara tercinta ini akan dapat dikekalkan.
My plea to all peace-loving Malaysians please beware of those among us who are detractors and destroyers of our peace and harmorny. Please let us be united as Malaysians who have accepted the Rukun Negara and the Perlembagaan Malaysia for the sake of our children and grandchildren.
To the Malays, lets face it we are generally better off now!
To the Chinese, the economic cake of the country is still largely in your hands!
To the Indians, you are hardly marginalised, just look at who the richest Malaysian is and what is your proportion of professionals in our country!
To the non-Malay Bumiputras, your children are now doing well and are all also generally better-off.
So PLEASE THINK! Do not be influenced by the peace-destroyers.
Salam and have a Safe,Happy and Peaceful KONG HEE FATT CHOY everyone!!! And God Bless.
