Fourth Prime Minister Tun Dr. Mahathir who was hospitalised in Melbourne while on a working visit will return to Kuala Lumpur this evening. He is expected to arrive at 800pm Malaysian time.
He is accompanied by his wife Tun Dr. Siti Hasmah Mohd. Ali.
Tun Dr. Mahathir will rest for the next few days and continue the treatment. He was discharged from Epworth Hospital, Melbourne on Tuesday 5 October but continued the treatment from his hotel. His recovery was said to be encouraging. On a phone interview with TV3 on the same day, he thanked Malaysians who have wished him well and offered prayer for his recovery.

The Bombardier Global Express jet which carried Tun Dr. Mahathir and Tun Dr. Siti Hasmah arrived in Sultan Salahuddin International Airport, Subang at 825pm. He looked cheerful and gave a sunshine smile, despite having to endure a seven hour flight from Tullamarine International Airport, Melbourne.
