No USP Fund audit committee meeting?

In the wake of the USP Fund controversies which managed to capture the attention of many, especially after it was raised in Dewan Rakyat and highlighted in the bloggosphere on the discrepancies of the balance in the coffer, there seems to be a new twist to the yet to be proven rumours.

It was raised to our attention that the audit committee of the USP Fund has not met for over a year.

We can’t confirm this. At least not yet. We hope someone could shed the light on this rumour. If it is true, then it will again be damning to Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Mohd. Najib Tun Razak’s administration. Especially when he has bold plans to propel and transform the economy, with NEM, GTP and ETP.

Let us watch closely at this new rumour.

The Ministry of Information, Communications and Culture has been under close scrutiny of mainstream and new media ever since BigDogDotCom highlighted the ‘talk-of-the-town’ that the Minister in-charge’s son rumoured to be involved in the lobbying of the 2.6GHz and 4G network development grants, being canvassed by nine different players. As a result of this posting, Dato’ Seri Utama Dr. Rais Yatim lodged a Police report against Supremo-Bloggo-Journo Datuk Ahirudin “Rocky” Attan on 12 October 2010.

The attention snowballed when Minister’s Communication and Multimedia Commission investigated Rocky in amazing speed and the Police confisticated his ‘Ferrari’ and Streamyx modem from his home, 24 hours after the Police report was lodged in IPD Dang Wangi. It attracted even PM Dato’ Seri Najib’s and DPM Tan Sri Muhyiddin Mohd. Yasin’s attention.

Yours truly also was called in MCMC investigators. The investigation had an odd twist when the IO was instructed to bring Datuk Rocky to “Meet up Dr Rais for a chat over tea”, a day before the 61st UMNO Annual Assembly (PAU) was about to commence. Some people believed that Rais wanted ‘to resolve the issue’, before any points on it was raised during the PAU.

On 23 October 2010, Abdul Razak Mohd. Noor, Aishah Harun and Numix Engineering Sdn. Bhd. filed a petition for an injunction at Kuala Lumpur High Court against Desmond Looh, Magic Telecoms Sdn. Bhd. and Sejahtera Selalu Sdn. Bhd. The hearing would be on 18 November 2010. It is believed that Rais’s son Dino Rais’s name was mentioned in the afitdavit for the injunction hearing.

Wangsa Maju MP YB Wee Choo Keong and Jelutong MP Jeff Ooi raised the issue in Dewan Rakyat. The highly elusive Universal Service Provider (USP) Fund was also raised by Wee. It was believed that USP Fund amassed to the sum of RM 4 billion. The plot thickens. We are still waiting for Dr Rais’s MACC report. Otherwise, the USP Fund itself should be a good target for MACC investigation.
