Meeting the KPI

Malaysiakini is a so called ‘independent’ online portal, which is an illustration of so many Malaysians’ aspiration of a ‘Freedom of Press’. However, the pro-Opposition portal which business model include ‘international funding’ of ‘NGOs which are promoting democracy, freedom of press and freedom of speech’ is doing exactly what is expected of them; using the-Opposition brand of ‘journalism’ to manipulate and lie (whenever possible).

The latest is the statement by Family and Women Development Minister Senator Dato’ Seri Shahrizat A Jalil, which Malaysiakini chose to lie:

Shahrizat: My family doesn’t deserve the attacks

Salhan K Ahmad • Nov 9, 11 5:31PM

Women, Family and Community Development Minister Shahrizat Abdul Jalil said today that her family does not deserve the attacks over the National Feedlot Corporation (NFC) project, which they own and manage.

“I think … my family does not deserve, you know, the kind of things said by the opposition. [See correction below]

“I don’t think they deserve it (the accusations), because they work very hard,” she said when asked whether her family deserved the multi-million project.

After almost two weeks of silence on the controversy, she also commended the ministers who had answered questions and tackled criticisms over the cattle rearing project.

“The agriculture and agro-industries minister has responded, and I have been informed. The answers are quite clear… I am happy because the ministry will monitor the project,” she said after officiating an arts exhibition in Kuala Lumpur this afternoon.

Hitting back at her detractors who questioned the propriety of her family members being awarded the project, and criticisms centering on its currently troubled state of affairs, Shahrizat said her family does not deserve is all the brickbats that have been thrown at them.

“I think my family does not deserve to get these things (being) said by the opposition,” she added.

‘We are not easily broken’

Shahrizat also accused the opposition of seeking to use the controversy against the women’s wings of Umno and BN.

“To me, I see this as part of a political agenda. This is an attempt by the opposition to weaken the spirit and actions of Umno Wanita.

“We are not so easily broken,” she asserted.

“I have been in politics for a long time. They (the opposition) are not really interested in the NFC (itself).

“It is directed to me, as Umno Wanita chief, and as BN Wanita chairperson,” she added.

Shahrizat trained her sights particularly on her counterpart in Pakatan Rakyat, PKR Wanita chief Zuraida Kamaruddin, for implicating her family in the project.

“Their political agenda is very clear. They are shaky, just like that PKR Wanita chief. I’m ashamed that a Malaysian woman can be like that,” she sneered.

Correction: We have earlier reported Shahrizat said her family “deserved” the NRC project. It should be “her family doesn’t deserved the opposition attack”. We regret the error.

*********

That was originally posted on 1731hrs. Malaysiakini reported that Shahrizat claimed that “her family deserved the NRC project”.

When the story came out in Malaysiakini’s public domain, Shahrizat was very unhappy. Then she tweeted Steven Gan that the report was a complete lie. Malaysiakini rectified the story four hours later to what it is now. Malaysiakini claimed in a footnote qualifier the earlier reporting was “an error”.

Then again, it is believed it was never an error in the first place. It is never a surprise when Malaysiakini does that. Where I am at the moment, that lie was intentional. Malaysiakini tends to manipulate whenever and where ever they can.

I had the similar experience once, with the same reporter Salhan K Ahmad. When the nation was shocked with what I posted and Utusan Malaysia carried the story on the front page on 7 May, Malaysiakini was one of the most responsive media especially when Jelutong DAP MP Jeff Ooi demanded that I apologize to the Christians and eventually made a Police report against the posting.

What Malaysiakini posted as a quote from me wasn’t exactly what I said when Salhan called me.

The consistency of Malaysiakini to manipulate if now lie, meets the KPI that has been set for the pro-Opposition portal. They have to work extra hard now, to cast a doubt against the Federal Government especially amongst the internet savvy professionals and urbanites. More over, when portals like Malaysia Today lost its credibility and even the editor Raja Petra Kamaruddin is on the run and The Malaysian Insider too lost its credibility with the Tajudin Ramli’s case.

  1. blog/media outlet maner yg credible bro? hehe

~ pak tua green lane ~

  2. The trend now is to just report or publish whatever rumours people create and that does the damage already no matter how much evidence is there to convince that it is a rumour, examples are the famous ring story, Najib’s daughter’s shopping expenditure and so on. People just tend to believe all these without thinking, sad that our society has come to this level.

  3. I remember someone told that Utusan and TV3 has the least credibility when compared to the rest of the main stream media. Please confirm if I am wrong .

I once attended a news media event in jakarta, and they were having a good laugh at TV3 and Utusan

  4. Whatever it is, Dato’ Seri Shahrizat must explain the allegation by giving out the facts and figure and not just denying it. She must explained that why her family got the project and not others through open tender? Why there is transfer of money to the companies of her own relative? Why money is used to buy 10 million condominium? etc etc. Rakyat deserved to know the answer and not being told to support UMNO blindly. Too much blunder had been done by UMNO on rakyat’s money and this must be stopped. MACC seems cannot be trusted anymore to investigate such incidents, they are more interested in bribe involving hundreds or thousands of ringgit rather than those millions by the UMNO.

  5. [...] pronounced a blogger in his post today, “is doing accurately what is approaching of them; regulating a Opposition code of [...]

  6. How could a family of an existing minister be given such project os such stature … national feedlot? This was the legacy of Tun Dol’s administration.

I believe your buddy A Voice mentioned about Shahrizat’s husband interest in this venture when you’ll were going on a campaign against SIme Darby taking over IJN.

Kak Jat’s husband Salleh Budu is not quite so honest. Someone should investigate his managing of research funds during his tenure at Science Park.

What happenned to his ecosystem project with taik-fed fish as product? Tanam nangka on cement floors? Off course, budu as superwonder food able to cure cancer if not the cause of stomach upset.

Could this be a backdoor fund source for Kak Jat and Wanita UMNO? Pandai betul …. openly like this? Real bodoh!

  7. Election is round the corner and what better time for the opposition to deal a blow on Sharizat and discredit her. She could be a BN candidate for a seat and could probably be in Lembah Pantai. And voters in Lembah Pantai especially in the lower income areas have missed her so much since her defeat in 2008. Am told many who supported PKR in the PRU 12 are working in a big way to bring BN back to Lembah Pantai.

As for the project given to her family, it was probably done when she was out of the government prior to her appointment as a Senator.

  8. it’s very funny la these pro-pakataiks people. when it comes to umno, they accept all the rumours as truth, ask for evidence, so on and so forth but when comes from their side of the fence, its all fitnah jahat, no evidence necessary.. just take lge son’s 3R case for example..

a real suck la these pro-pakataiks people..

    • LGE son’s 3R case is his personal problem but Sharizat case involved millions of tax payers money siphoned to her own family account. She better have solid explanation to counter such accusation rather than just deny them and ask us to support UMNO or BN blindly and she continue to live in luxurous lifestyle on rakyat’s money.

  9. Hello sir,

you dont have any comments on the family using the money to buy apartments?

  10. I also worked hard what..RM20 million will do for me for a start up capital of Malaysia’s own wagyu beef..can I have that? Okay la RM2 million boleh ka sharizat?
