The mindset of Opposition Leaders of being Anti Constitution is clearly unravelling bit-by-bit. The latest is from nepotisismee PKR Vice President Nurul Izzah Anwar, over on Saturday in Petaling Jaya.
Her statement against the inhibitive restrictions of Malays to apostate out of Islam, has received a lot of flak. Even HRH Sultan of Selangor voices his displeasure on the matter.
Mais: Sultan of Selangor regrets statement by Nurul Izzah
SHAH ALAM, Nov 6 Nov 6 — The Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah has expressed regret and surprise at the statement made by Parti Keadilan Rakyat vice-president Nurul Izzah Anwar last Saturday that Muslim Malays are free to choose their religion under the religious freedom factor.
The chairman of the Selangor Islamic Religious Council (Mais) Datuk Setia Mohamad Adzib Mohd Isa said His Highness totally rejected any view that the Malay Muslims were free to choose other religion and denounce Islam.
“As the advisor to the Sultan of Selangor, Mais will continue to be firm in assisting him to be cautious, sensitive and firm on anyone who directly or indirectly challenges the sanctity of Islam whether in terms of ideology or practice, particularly in Selangor,” he said in a statement, here today.
He said this when commenting on the report by an opposition news portal that Nurul Izzah, at the forum “Islamic State: Which Version; Who Is Responsible”, in Subang Jaya last Saturday, had said that every citizen in this country should not be forced to practice any particular religion.
However yesterday, after being criticised by various quarters, Nurul Izzah had issued a statement in her “Facebook” denying that she supported apostasy.
Adzib said the Council feared that such a statement could confuse and influence Muslim Malays in the state of Selangor as it was issued by a senior leader of a component party of the Opposition pact which administered the state.
He pointed out that based on Islamic teachings, religious freedom was only applicable to non-Muslims who were free to embrace Islam without any coercion.
“However, after embracing Islam, they cannot freely choose other religions and denounce Islam.
“The same goes for the Malay Muslims who cannot choose other religions freely and denounce Islam because they must abide by all Islamic teachings as professed by Prophet Muhammad,” he said.
Adzib said Islam was also a condition that determined the status of a Malay as provided for by Article 160(2) of the Federal Constitution.
Thus, he said, the liberalism or pluralism thinking was very dangerous because this would erode the rights and privileges of the Malays as provided for in the Constitution and existing law.
“His Highness the Sultan of Selangor also said that matters pertaining to Islam should not be turned into a polemic and made into political capital for the benefit of certain parties because this could confuse and deviate the thinking of Muslims on Islam.
“Mais stands firm that any agenda or action that is politically oriented should not forsake the position, thinking and implementation of Islam in Selangor, in particular, and Malaysia in general.
“Nevertheless, Mais has directed the Selangor Islamic Religious Department (Jais) to carry out an investigation for appropriate action.”
Meanwhile, Puteri Umno head Datuk Rosnah Abdul Rashid Shirlin advised Nurul Izzah to retract her statement on the issue and to repent and seek Allah’s forgiveness for having made the statement.
Rosnah said Nurrul Izzah’s statement carried very significant implication especially to the younger generation as it paved the way for other movements to deviate the faith of Muslims.
“Puteri UMNO wants to see the top leadership of PAS, especially the PAS Women’s wing, to state their stand on Nurul Izzah’s statement,” she said in a statement.
In KUALA TERENGGANU, the general secretary of “Gagasan Pendidikan Melayu Malaysia” (Gagasan), Syed Anuar Syed Mohamad urged the National Fatwa Council to respond immediately to Nurul Izzah’s statement which could confuse the Muslims.
He said the PKR top leadership must issue a statement and state its stand on the issue and whether the statement issued by Nurul Izzah was personal or represented the party’s stand. — Bernama
The Federal Constitution is very clear, about the definition of a Malay (Article 160) and the restriction to profess other religions to a Muslim (Article 11, Section 4).
Nurul, like other Opposition Leaders, take the opportunity in Opposition-friendly intellectual discourses for an anti-Federal Constitutional position. This is part of the ‘Politics of Hatred’ strategy. Particularly when they can manipulate issues which are pro-majority and provided clearly in the Federal Constitution as being ‘oppressive’, especially when its used against the minority.
The Malays are the majority of Malaysians and mainstay of political power. To downplay the bond that binds the Malays together, like Islam, position of HRH Rulers and Malay customs, and the identity that defines the Malays, would be the achilles heel to destruct the Malay power made formidable due to the unity.
The Opposition would not able to grasp power from the mandate of the majority. This is because, they don’t have a fresh ideas for the development agenda to bring about progress for the majority. Their power-base for support had always been from the minority. Obviously, the minority which is apsiring for power do not have the interest of the majority in their agenda.
In short, they as the minority want to impose their will against the interests and aspirations of the majority.
The attack against the restriction of apostasy for Muslims, means that its strategic to un-define the characteristics of the Malays. Tactically, they are hoping that the implementation of Article 11.4 be laxed and more and more Muslims could be prosetylised, as per what JAIS formally uncovered on the 6 Aug 2011 raid on Damansara Utama Methodist Church.
The moment more and more Muslims be prosetylised, then they could demonstrate how the Government has failed on the downtrodden Malays and the churches and NGOs step in, to cover for the void.
Nurul Izzah, the heir-apparent to the leadership of the party which was created and formed around and for the purpose of her father, former abuse-of-power-convict and Opposition Leader Anwar Ibrahim, did attack the ‘unfairness’ for laws against LGBT. Section 377 (A) and (B) prohibits of un-natural sexual intercourse, which her sexually deviant father has been charged twice for the same sodomy offense (with different persons). This is part of their strategy to weaken the Malays.
HRH Sultan of Selangor takes the position, statements and actions of the Opposition very seriously. Previously, as far back as 2009 he sounded out against the PKR Government under Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim’s intention to utilize the monies in the zakat and Baitul Mal coffer for development purposes. How the Chinese reacted against the ‘Kalimah Allah’ issue also attracted HRH’s attention.
When DAP MP for Serdang Teo Nie Ching spoke in the surau and being ‘under-dressed’ in her constituency three Ramadhans ago, HRH Sultan of Selangor was angered. Then, another titah against the displeasure of activities in DUMC. And now, Nurul Izzah’s statement, which was made in Petaling Jaya, Selangor.
Malaysians should take very serious notice on all these statements made by HRH Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Ibni Almarhum Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah of Selangor. PKR Government under Khalid has proven to not augur well with HRH Sultan of Selangor.
The attack has been consistent against the Full Monty; Islam, HRH Rulers and the Malays’ customs, traditions and values. . The majority should reject the Opposition. It is everything against what this nation stood for.
The true colours spokenth. It is bold. It is scarlet.
