A tribute to 35 years of Malaysia Airlines

1 Oct 2007, marked the 35th anniversary of Malaysia Airlines in service, after its separation from Malaysia-Singapore Airlines. Today, it has grown to a formidable Tier 1 premium airline, serving over 90 international destinations in six continents, 400 flights carrying 48, 000 passengers daily with 59 wide body and 39 narrow body aircraft.

malaysia-airlines-routes.jpg

 b747-mas-ii.jpg

Its started its humble beginning in 1937 as Malayan Air Lines (MAL). The airline flew classics such as Airspeed Consul, DC3 Dakota, DC4 Skymaster, Vickers Visocunts, Lockheed Super Constellation and DeHavilland Comet. BOAC and Qantas had stakes in MAL.

malayan-airlines.JPG

It eventually evolved started into Malaysia-Singapore Airlines (MSA) after Singapore was sacked from the Federation of Malaysia in 1965. It expanded to destinations such as Bombay, Tokyo, Perth, Rome and London. Later in early seventies, the Singaporean partners wanted to part ways and concentrate on the international sector, which is highly lucrative and do away with the subsidised domestic and rural services. As there was a nation building agenda as the priority, MSA split into SIA and Malaysia Airlines System (MAS) from 1972 and MAS continued the agenda to serve the nation.

msa-ii.JPG

So MAS is born. The aircraft with the large red Wau Kucing on the white circle is now flying the Malaysia flag, as the national carrier.

 b737-mas-i.jpg

Business commenced at 4.30pm on 1 October 1972 from Subang International Airport with only six B737-200 to service its regional operations and and six F27 for domestic services. MAS now painfully has to re-build its international destinations, especially all the lucrative routes landing rights’ went to SIA, such as London, Tokyo, Hong Kong and Sydney. Captain Hassan Ahmad, the first Malay commercial airline captain certified by DCA, commandeered flight MH 601 to Singapore Paya Lebar Airport at this historic moment. Deputy Prime Minister Tun Dr. Ismail Abdul Rahman solemnise the event, of behalf of the Malaysian Government.

dscn1553.JPG

Intercontinental B707s were added and Malaysia MAS, as it was known then, started to serve Hong Kong, Tokyo, Sydney, West Asia and London. Then European destinations such as Frankfurt were added. All earlier B707s during MSA operations went with SIA.

mas-b707.jpg

The nation stood still and many wept, include HRH Sultan Ahmad Shah of Pahang and Deputy Prime Minister Dato’ Hussein Onn, when a special B707-206 MAS flight bore the remains of the dead Malaysian Prime Minister Allahyarham Tun Abdul Razak Hussein at SubangInternationalAirport from London arrived on 5.30pm, 15 January 1976.

tun-razak-body-arrived-from-london-iii.JPG

In 1990, when he passed away in San Francisco, Tun Hussein Onn’s remains too were flown back to Kuala Lumpur, like his predecessor, onboard Malaysia Airlines. In mid 1976, MAS took delivery of its first DC 10-30 and marked its operation into ‘trans continental widebodies’.

 malaysia-airlines-dc-10-30-i.jpg

Then MAS went another step ahead when in 1979, the first Airbus A300 B4 were delivered and this marked its regional operations to Seoul, Madras and Perth. Operations to Hong Kong, Singapore, Bangkok, Taipei were expanded for the addition of this second widebody type into the fleet.

malaysia-airlines-a300-b4.jpg

MAS went into another bold step when in April 1982, took delivery of the first B747-200, powered with Rolls Royce RB211 engines. The European, Australian and East Asia operations were expanded.

malaysia-airlines-b747-200.jpg

After months of careful evaluation, MAS decided to offer 30% of its equity to the public. This was done in late September 1985 after an initial bonus issue of three for one was made. Subsequently, the RM1.00/share was offered RM1.80. It was then the largest share issue made in Malaysian corporate history and the first wholly-owned Government entity to do so. The public issue received overwhelming support and upon listing, shares shot up above RM5.00, despite that the PE ratio was only 5.9, way below the average 20 for companies then traded on the KLSE. That brought the shareholders’ fund to RM 572 million.

In 1986, the only B747-300 with GE engines was delivered and MAS operations expanded to Los Angeles. More European destinations such as Paris and Amsterdam were added.

malaysia-airlnes-b747-300.jpg

By 1989, the first delivery of ultra-long-range 17 B747-400s were delivered and by now Malaysia Airlines is flying direct to its European sector, by-passing the traditional West Asian technical stopovers such as Dubaii and Kuwait. With introduction of this ultra-long-range type, in the nineties Malaysia Airlines started service to South Africa (Johannesburg and Cape Town), Central America (Mexico City) and South America (Buenos Aries).

malaysia-airlines-b747-400.jpg

Malaysia Airlines added A330-200/300 into its fleet in the mid eighties and saw its services being extended to Africa (Cairo), Canada (Vancouver) and expanded operations to West Asia (Beirut and Instanbul), South East and South Asia (Karachi), East Asia (Shenzhen, Fukuoka) and Australia (Adelaide).

malaysia-airlnes-a330.jpg

In 1997, Malaysia Airlines took delivery of its first B777-200 Super Ranger and its regional and European operations were substantiated with this ultra long range and economical jetliner. In the late nineties, Malaysia Airlines introduce a flight to New York (Newark), via Vienna (later Stockholm). This mark the service to the American Eastern Seaboard.

b777-mas.jpg

In 2004, Malaysia Airlines signed the agreement to purchase the largest ultra long range commercial airliner A380-800, with the powerful Rolls Royce Trent 900 engines.

malaysia-airlines-a380-800.jpg

MAS Engineering Division started training their own in-house Licensed Aircraft Maintenance Engineers (LAMEs) with the first admission of Trainee Aircraft Maintenance Engineers (TAMEs) at Subang in 1972. Today, Malaysia Airliness 600 odd LAMEs are certified by OEM such as Airbus, Boeing, Rolls Royce, GE, Pratt & Whitney, CFM, Honeywell etc to service components from its 98 aircraft fleet, in two engineering centres, Subang and KLIA. Malaysia Airlines engineering and ground services divisions moved to KLIA when the new airport was completed and started operations in June 1998.

malaysia-airlines-hangar-klia.jpg

Through out the years, bit by bit, the FlightOperationsTraining School acquired flight simulators of all type of aircrafts it operates. Airlines made world record when its technical crew, led by Captain Nik Huzlan flew a 20 ½hour journey on its B777-200 Super Ranger from Seattle to Subang.

dscn1549.JPG

Malaysian Airlines have perfected the art and service standards, especially on board. It is a tradition and dedication passed on from the MAS days. The heart melting smiles that is usually followed by warm but efficient service which had won Malaysia Airlines over 100 international awards.

malaysia-airlines-onboard-service.jpg

Malaysia Airlines ventured into the lucrative trade of air cargo. Now it is a major and profitable revenue stream for the public listed national carrier. It is now a subsidiary called MASKargo.

dscn1554.JPGmascargo-b747-200.jpg

Today, Malaysia Airlines have matured and served the Malaysian public well. Be it the needs of people in the rural areas of Sabah and Sarawak and business and international relations need of the country, the national flag carrier had always been there, flying the Jalur Gemilang, Going Beyond Expectations.

twin-otter-mas.jpgf50-mas.jpgb737-mas.jpg

Whenever we are abroad and we step onboard a Malaysia Airlines jet, the warmth of our lovely country is immediately felt. It feels a lot like home, it even smells a lot like home. The warm smiles of “Selamat Datang” is so soothing. One is so comfortable with the service standards and cuisine that one is so accustomed to.

Happy Birthday, Malaysia Airlines

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia’s first astronaut will be kept busy doing work for three space agencies during his 10-day sojourn in space.

Dr Sheikh Muszaphar Shukor will carry out experiments for space agencies in Malaysia, Europe and Japan.

National Space Agency director-general Datuk Dr Mazlan Othman said here yesterday Dr Muszaphar would be on a very tight schedule.

“We are so happy to finally have the nation’s dream come true. The Science, Technology and Innovation Ministry had been working on the project since 2002.”

She said Dr Muszaphar would conduct experiments on tropical disease microbes for Malaysia, eyesight and muscles research for Europe Space Agency. For the Japanese Space Agency, he will carry out tests on the effects of radiation in space.
“The space project is not a one-off thing. We have solid long term planning for the space programme.”

Dr Mazlan said local scientists would continue to work with their counterparts in Europe and Japan as they had agreed to work collectively on several space-related research project.

“From here, one day we might want to spend money to send our men to space,” she said, adding that it would cost about US$30 million (RM105 million) to send one person.

Millions of Malaysians were glued on national TV and Astro, which carried the historical event live, from Baikonur Cosmodrome, Kazakhstan. Prime Minister and 1,000 guests including University students assembled at KLCC Convention Centre and exchanged speeches and pleasantries with the Kazakhtani President and MOSTI Minister in Kazakhstan.

Former Prime Minister, Tun Dr, Mahathir Mohamad, whose visionary initiated this project, saw this historial event on TV from his room at IJN, still recuperating after his landmark second multiple coronary by-pass 4 Sept.

Dr. Sheikh will be the first Muslim astronaut to be in space during Islam holiest month, Ramadhan. BBC.com has the story on how he will carry out his rituals and will hold the first traditional Hari Raya Aidil Fitri celebratory meal in space.

May Allah bless you and you definitely made us very proud!

Sheikh Muszaphar set to be first Malaysian in space

jane@thestar.com.my

BAIKONUR (Kazakhstan): Hospital UKM’s Dr Sheikh Muszaphar Shukor will make history when he goes into space on board the Russian Soyuz TMA-11 spacecraft at 9.22pm (Malaysian time) on Wednesday.

“It’s a small step for me, but a great leap for the Malaysian people,’’ Dr Sheikh Muszaphar – the first Malaysian to go into space – told the Associated Press, rephrasing Neil Armstrong’s legendary words after the Apollo landing on the moon in 1969.

He will spend 10 days in space, including eight on board the Inter-national Space Station (ISS) where he will be part of the ISS Expedition16 crew.

The TMA-11 craft carrying the 35-year-old doctor and his flight mates – Russian cosmonaut Yuri Malenchenko and American astronaut Peggy Whitson – is scheduled to dock at the ISS at 10.51pm (local time) on Friday.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, Cabinet Ministers and 280 students will watch the live broadcast of the launch at the KL Convention Centre in Kuala Lumpur tonight.

On Sunday, Abdullah will hold a teleconference with Dr Sheikh Muszaphar who will then be on board the ISS.

Another first for the Malaysian Angkasawan is that he will be hosting a Hari Raya party on board the space station on the first day of Syawal. He has taken satay and some kuih Raya to treat the others on board.

At the ISS, he will carry out four experiments drawn up by Malaysian scientists.

Dr Sheikh Muszaphar is to study of the effects of microgravity and space radiation on cells and microbes, as well as experiments with proteins for a potential HIV vaccine.

The rocket – adorned with a Malaysian flag and coat of arms and carrying the Soyuz TMA-11 spacecraft – was moved on Monday to the launch pad from its assembly site at the Baikonur Cosmodrome, which Russia rents from Kazakhstan.

Malaysia is paying for the voyage as part of a billion-dollar purchase of Russian fighter jets.

Russia built the cosmodrome on the arid plains of Kazakhstan during Soviet times and has continued to use the site under a rental deal since the 1991 Soviet collapse.

Russia is marking 50 years of space exploration, having celebrated on Oct 4 the 50th anniversary of the launch of the first ever satellite, Sputnik.

Dr Sheikh Muszaphar is to return to Earth on Oct 21 with two Russian members of the current space station crew.

Whitson and Malenchenko will stay on as the station’s new crew, and will be joined in October by American astronaut Daniel Tani, who is arriving with the shuttle Discovery. Tani will replace fellow American Clayton Anderson, who has been at the station since June.

Malaysians will eagerly wait this historical moment, with prayers, 46 years after the first manned flight to space by Russian Cosmonaut Major Yuri Gagarin. Even though the Indonesians first ventured seriously into aerospace beginning in the 70s, the Singaporeans later mastered the science of avionics and communications and the Vietnamese is the closest political and military ally of the Soviet Union (now Russia) in the region, its the Malaysians who will be the first South East Asian in space.

dato-dr-mazlan-othman.jpg

Under the leadership of Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Dr. Mahathir Mohamad, who is avid mover of science and technology, launched the initial steps towards the Angkasawan project and Dato’ Dr. Mazlan Othman, a former physics professor who was attached as the Head of United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs, appointed to head the Agensi Angkasa Lepas Negara (then known as Space Science Division under Jabatan Perdana Menteri). A planetarium was built in the 90s to expose Malaysians in astronomy sciences and space explorations. Then it went into serious mode for sending a Malaysian into space missions and started the ball rolling.

Angkasawan (TM) programmed core ideals are to the achieve these objectives:

Achievement
To send a Malaysian Angkasawan(TM) to the International Space Station (ISS) in 2007 signalling a giant step in the nation’s march towards the future.

Expertise
To gain knowledge and experience from Russia and other countries as a platform for Malaysia to develop further its technological and scientific capabilities and expertise.

Identity
To instill in Malaysians a unity of purpose and generate amongst Malaysians a sense of national identity and pride.

Inspiration
To inspire all Malaysians to strive for excellence and to inspire young Malaysians to explore new areas of science and technology.

In October 2003, the selection for Angkasawan started, where 11,000 able bodied Malaysians were evaluated and finally two candidates were finalised in 2006.

This is former Prime Minister Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad’s message on this historical launch, transmitted from Bunga Raya VIP ward, IJN via Sufi Yusoff.

What “protection for whistle blowers” is Anwar Ibrahim talking about now?

What protection against whistle blowers is Anwar Ibrahim, Wan Azizah Ismail and the whole PKR talking about now, which the rest of ‘like-minded Malaysians’ are talking about too as well?

In 1997, Anwar as the acting Prime Minister whilst Dato’ Seri Dr. Mahathir Mohamad was on a three month holiday in South America, specifically instructed the Police Special Branch, through its Director CP Dato’ Mohd. Said Awang and Deputy Director II SAC I Dato’ Amir Junus to ‘hunt down’ “whistle blowers” Azizan Abu Bakar and Ummi Halfida Ali and make them retract their earlier letter for the allegations on Anwar’s sexual misconducts and sodomy practices.

The SB located both Azizan and Ummi seeking refuge at Dr. Ristina Majid’s home in Bukit Pantai and the Police had broken through metal grill on the door, to arrest them. When under Police custody, both were ‘tortured’ (a process which was said in court as “turn-over process”) until they agreed to sign the retraction sworn statements against the earlier allegations, by Azizan dated 18 August 1997 and Ummi on 29 August 1997.

All of these were discovered by CID senior investigating officer ACP Musa Hassan when Anwar’s political secretary Azmin Ali made a police report right after the UMNO General Assembly June 1998 on Khalid Jafri’s book “50 Dalil Kenapa Anwar Tidak Boleh Menjadi Perdana Menteri

Malaysians learned about all of these when Anwar Ibrahim was charged on 5 October 1998 and tried in a Kuala Lumpur High Court and Justice Augustine Paul handed down a conviction of six years in prison for this criminal act. All avenues to overturn this judgment has been fully exhausted and till present, Anwar remained a convicted criminal.

So if Anwar Ibrahim himself went against “whistle blowers”, what is he, his darling missus and the rest of the endangered political creatures soon to be extinct called Parti Keadilan Rakyat talking about now? Have they conveniently forgotten this episode a little over ten years ago?

A million thanks to blood donors

I was at Masjid Jame’ Kampung Baru, Kuala Lumpur by 7.50pm, after my usual iftar at home with my parents, my wife, my darling daughter, my only sister and her only daughter. I rushed straight right after the meal.

It was drizzling when I left home. By 8.00pm, it started to rain. Then it became heavier. Despite of the challenge of the wet tropical evening, 40 pints were collected by the National Blood Bank (NBB) staff, headed by hematologists Dr. Maisarah.

ansara-blood-donation.jpg

People from all walks of life were there to answer the call of donating their blood, for the preservation of lives. Young, old, professionals, medical practitioners, students, worshipers and non believers, first timers and veteran donors, politicians and bloggers, stood inline to offer their lifeline liquid to ease the suffering of others. 40% were turned down for not fulfilling the criterion set, which include minimum weight, haemoglobin level, blood pressure, glucose level in the blood etc. ANSARA President Dato’ Mukhriz Mahathir, who already donated blood at an earlier ANSARA’s campaign in South Cheras Jaya Jusco on the 9 September wanted to donate again tonight but was turned down by the NBB doctor-in-charge because its far too soon for him.

dscn1527.JPG

Two of fellow bloggers were there. Must Stop This and What’s In My Head came straight from work. Bloggers actively campaigned for this emergency drive. Some blog readers also turned up to offer their blood.

dscn1524.JPG

Later, in the rain, some Petaling Jaya DAP members led by former national publicity secretary Ronnie Liu (also a blogger, Colour-Blind) showed up and went straight inline, eagerly participating for this emergency drive.

ronnie-lui-giving-blood-at-masjid-jame-kg-baru.JPG

When we had a chat with Dr. Maisarah, she told us that the NBB required a minimum of 2,500 pints daily. The life expectancy of bloods collected is never longer than 35 days. The level is now very critical even though they have seven mobile teams within Klang Valley actively arranging for blood donation every single day somewhere in their area. This week is particularly critical because several major organ transplant were done, like in the case of Tee Hui Yee. They anticipate the upcoming long Hari Raya Aidfitri holidays will be taxing for the NBB as the level in their storage is very critical, at the moment.

A million thanks to the kind donors this evening. Equal appreciation is accorded to portal and blogs which actively promoted this emergency drive organized by ANSARA and Utusan Malaysia for their coverage. Congratulations, Dr. Mohamed Halim Abu Bakar of Damai Hospital and Dr. Shahrol Azmi Mohd. Yassin of Kampung Baru Medical Centre who led this ANSARA initiative tonight. Both vowed to continue help NBB in the future for such blood donation drive again. Also, not the least, thanks to the NBB staff and the donor for the hot drinks and kuihs.

Well done, people!

Blood donation campaign at Masjid Jame Kampung Baru tonight

A reminder from Saturday’s posting, “Darah diperlukan sempena Cuti Hari Raya Aidil Fitri“.

ansara-blood-donation.jpg

The National Blood Bank (NBB) on Friday contacted Dr. Mohamed Halim Abu Bakar, the co-ordinator Pra-Ramadhan Blood Donation Campaign, co-organised by ANSARA-Utusan Malaysia, which was carried out in several cities all over Malaysia 7-9 September. This time, NBB asked ANSARA to help out organize another blood donation campaign, in anticipation of the upcoming long weekend Hari Raya Aidil Fitri holidays.

Even though the early September campaign managed to collect 2,200 pints of blood nationwide, The National Blood Bank currently is low on blood storage. Therefore, NBB is asking ANSARA to help organize another campaign.

This campaign will be carried out on the grounds of Masjid Jame Kampung Baru, Kuala Lumpur on Monday, 8 October 2007, beginning 7.30 pm (after Maghrib prayers).

All are welcome.

Preservation of life, regardless race, religion or creed, is the current flavour of the week in local medias, especially after Tee Hui Yee’s heart and lung transplant which managed to garner so much attention from all walks of life amongst Malaysians.

Azizan Abu Bakar: Anwar sodomised me fifteen times!

This article has been uploaded from Berita MyKMU.net

Azizan: Anwar liwat saya 15 kali

Posted on Sunday, October 07 @ 07:00:27 MYT
Topic: KOMENTAR

Soalan pihak pendakwa selanjutnya berkisar mengenai kejadian liwat sejak tahun 1992.

Anwar Did Sodomise Me, Says Azizan

KUALA LUMPUR Aug 16 – Azizan Abu Bakar, the former driver of Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s wife, told the High Court here that Anwar and his adopted brother, Sukma Darmawan Sasmitaat Madja, did sodomise him.

”It definitely took place,” he said under re-examination by Attorney-General Tan Sri Mohtar Abdullah, who is leading the prosecution team, at their joint sodomy trial, which entered its 42nd day today.

Facing Justice Datuk Arifin Jaka, Azizan said he could not remember the exact date it happened but it occurred about four to five months after he had stopped working as the driver of Anwar’s wife, Datin Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, in September 1992.

Asked how he could remember the date, Azizan said it was because it occurred soon after Sukma’s apartment in Tivoli Villa had been completed.

Anwar, 52, the former deputy prime minister and finance minister, and Sukma, 38, are separately charged with sodomising Azizan, 38, at Sukma’s apartment at unit no 10-7-2, Tivoli Villa, Jalan Medang Tanduk, Bangsar, here, between January and March, 1993.
Sukma, a boutique owner, faces another charge of abetting Anwar in the commission of the offence, at the same time and place.

Azizan said that he had informed the investigating officer of the case, SAC 1 Musa Hassan, of the date when Musa asked him to remember the date carefully before recording his statement.

Musa, he said, had read back to him what he had recorded down and he had signed the statement when he was satisfied that what was recorded by Musa was accurate.
At this juncture, Mohtar informed the court that he would tender the statement later to prove Azizan’s consistency

The rebuttal against Anwar Ibrahim

Anwar Ibrahim Is A Convicted Criminal

His Allegations and Lies Must Be Exposed

Why Now The Alleged Video Tapes?

Starting Point

In any debate or discussion concerning Anwar Ibrahim, the starting point must be:

Anwar is a convicted criminal. This is the undisputed fact. Even if he is pardoned in the future, the fact remains that in such an event, he was once a convicted criminal.

Therefore any attempt to undermine the Judiciary by this convicted criminal must be seen as a desperate attempt to overturn his conviction. No other convict in the History of Malaysia has been given more chance to prove his innocence. Yet, he has been convicted by the Highest Court in Malaysia.

Anwar was convicted by the High Court of Malaya, and the conviction was upheld by the Court of Appeal and the Federal Court. A second Federal Court refused to review the conviction. All together ten judges, one High Court, three Court of Appeal, six Federal Court judges were of one mind that he was rightly convicted. He was convicted of very serious offence – for corruption.

1. The Offence of Corruption

Anwar Ibrahim, after he was dismissed as the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance was charged with five counts of corrupt practice under section 2(1) of the Emergency (Essential Powers) Ordinance No 22 of 1970 (the Ordinance), on 5th October 1998.

The Prosecution elected to proceed with four charges under section 2(1) of the Ordinance and applied to the High Court for the four charges to be tried together. The defence did not object.

Anwar was found guilty on all four charges, as amended at the close of the prosecution case, by the High Court. He was convicted and sentence to six years imprisonment on each of the amended charges, the sentences to run concurrently, to take effect from the date of conviction.

On appeal to the Court of Appeal, Anwar’s appeal against conviction and sentence was dismissed by the Court of Appeal. He then appealed to the Federal Court.

Judgment of the Federal Court

Anwar submitted 33 grounds for appeal. But his appeal was dismissed. The Federal Court held inter-alia:

1) The trial judge had considered in detail the law relating to the meaning of “corrupt practice”. The Federal Court would agree with his definition of “corrupt practice” under section 2(2) of the Ordinance and its application to the facts of the case.

Section2(2): “corrupt practice” means any act done by any member or officer referred to in sub-section (1) in his capacity as such member or officer, whereby he used his public position or office for his pecuniary or other advantage.

2) The words “other advantage” in section 2(2) of the Ordinance are not to be read ejusdem generic with the word “pecuniary”. There was evidence on record to show that the Anwar had obtained an advantage in respect of all four charges against him. The evidence was also clear that the advantage obtained by him was in respect of the use of his public position as Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance and not in his personal capacity.

3) The trial judge considered the evidence given by the witnesses in considerable detail with reasons for his finding. An appellate court should be slow to disturb the finding of facts of the lower court especially where there are concurrent findings of facts by two courts as the situation in the instant case (i.e. High Court and Court of Appeal).

4) The trial judge had considered the defence in detail and he did not err in his appraisal of the evidence and he was correct to find Anwar guilty as charged.

Judgment of the 2nd Federal Court

In 99.9% of cases, when an appeal reaches the Federal Court and is determined, the legal process ends, be it an acquittal or the conviction being upheld.

But Anwar was given “another bite of the apple”. He made an application to the Federal Court to review the said conviction and sentence on the ground that there were fresh evidence which was not available at the time of the trial, and if allowed would affect the trial.

The Federal Court held that the facts revealed that the “new evidence” referred to in the application is not evidence that was not available at the trial. As a matter of fact the court held that Anwar was fully aware of the existence of such evidence. The trial judge had in fact rejected the evidence as being irrelevant. The Court of Appeal and the Federal Court upheld the trial judge finding in regard to this “new evidence” as being irrelevant.

The Federal Court found that the application by Anwar was an attempt to re-litigate the issues which had been conclusively settled. To allow the application would be against the fundamental principle that the outcome of litigation should be final.

Anwar Ibrahim and all his barking dogs are insinuating that each and every Judge involved in this case of corruption is a corrupt judge. This is a most serious defamation. And the Judges cannot defend themselves in the public domain.

Yet now, once again, Anwar Ibrahim, the convicted criminal is trying to challenge his conviction by resorting to the alleged scandal of the alleged “VK Lingam Tapes.”

This is an act of desperation and an insult to the reputation of the said judges, especially the late Tan Sri Abdul Malek Ahmad, who was the former President Court of Appeal. To cast aspersions on a dead man is cowardly and despicable. And Karpal Singh has the audacity to call for a revision of all the judgments.

The perverse logic of Anwar Ibrahim and his barking dogs is that when judges convict him of an offence, they are corrupt and unworthy. Only judges who acquit him are honest and fair.

In the circumstances, should Anwar Ibrahim and his bunch of die hard be perceived as having under their control those judges who acquitted him?

If we are to adopt his reasoning, one cannot but come to that stupid conclusion. This is because these idiots have said that the judges who have handed down the convictions are under the thumb of the Government. Surely, following their reasoning the converse must also be true. In the result, all judges are corrupt. A blanket condemnation! And we are to follow him like sheep for the slaughter.

Go through each and every mass media article on the alleged corruption of the Judiciary in recent months. It invariably veers off to the issue of Anwar Ibrahim’s conviction. The entire judiciary is undermined to serve one purpose and one purpose only. To enable Anwar Ibrahim, the convicted criminal to usurp power and be the tool of foreign powers.

This so called Muslim is in cahoots with the war criminal Paul Wolfowitz who have slaughtered million of Muslims all over the world, specifically, Palestine, Afghanistan, Iraq, Indonesia and in Southern Thailand. Mr Wolfowitz gave Anwar Ibrahim a job in the USA, makes him a Chairman of a Foundation in which Wolfowitz girlfriend is the head honcho and who abuse the World Bank funds to finance his sexual appetite and was removed from the World Bank. This is Anwar Ibrahim’s friend and ally!

2. The Offence of Homosexual Activities

The Federal Court on September 2, 2004, by a majority decision of 2:1 acquitted Anwar on the charge of committing carnal intercourse against the order of nature – sodomy.

He was acquitted essentially on the grounds that it was unsafe to convict him mainly on the evidence of the complainant, one Azizan who the court held was an accomplice and therefore his evidence must be corroborated by other witnesses that he was sodomised on the dates that he complained of.

However, it is interesting to note that the majority decision of the Federal made a finding that:

“The testimonies of one Dr. Mohd Fadzil and one Tun Haniff and the conduct of the first Appellant (ie Anwar) confirmed the appellants’ involvement in homosexual activities. However such evidence did not corroborate Azizan’s story that the appellants sodomised him on the date, time and place specified in the charge.”

Additionally, the majority also held:

“even though reading the appeal record, we find evidence to confirm that the appellants were involved in homosexual activities and we are more inclined to believe that the alleged incident at Tivoli Villa did happen, sometime, this court, as a court of law, may only convict the appellants if the prosecution has successfully proved that the alleged offences as stated in the charges, beyond reasonable doubt.”

However, we should note the minority opinion:

“It will be too high a standard to require that in sexual offences no case can be made out if it is solely on the evidence of a complainant or a participant to the act. At the end of the day it is the credibility of the witness that matters and in these appeals, the learned judge correctly appreciated that position.”

Mischevious Allegations Against the Judiciary

Anwar Ibrahim has made sweeping allegations against the judiciary without offering any evidence of impropriety or otherwise. And lawyers are blindly echoing his accusations.

I demand the Bar Council and those lawyers who have made accusations to furnish concrete evidence or else shut up!

We should also challenge Anwar Ibrahim and all his barking dogs to prove which of the ten judges in the above proceedings were partial, corrupt, under the influence of the administration and or have misconducted the proceedings, namely:

1. Justice Augustine Paul (High Court) – presently Federal Court Judge

2. Justice Lamin ( former President, Court of Appeal)

3. Justice Ahmad Fairuz Sheikh Halim, Chief Justice of Malaya

4. Justice Mokhtar Sidin (Court of Appeal)

5. Justice Mohamed Dzaiddin, former Chief Justice of Malaysia

6. Justice Steve Shim, former Chief Justice of Sabah & Sarawak

7. Justice Haidar Mohd. Noor, former Chief Judge, High Court of Malaya

8. Justice Abdul Malek Ahmad, former President Court of Appeal

9. Justice Siti Norma, former Chief Judge, High Court of Malaya

10. Justice Alauddin M Sheriff, Chief Judge High Court of Malaya

For far too long have they been getting away with baseless accusations. If they have evidence, have the guts to come forward and lodge the relevant police reports.

But they are cowards of the first order, hiding behind vague accusations and pious statements.

There is now another attempt to cast aspersions on the judiciary.

Being a convicted criminal for corruption, Anwar Ibrahim’s allegation of judicial corruption is spurious to say the least.

Anwar Ibrahim Should Be Charged for Tampering Evidence

Anwar Ibrahim, the convicted criminal recently called a press conference exposing an alleged video recording of a senior lawyer having a conversation with an alleged judge.

He stated that the original video recording was approximately 14 minutes but has been reduced to approximately 8 minutes so as to protect the source of the said video recording. [1]

On this “evidence, his followers went to town and demanded their “pound of flesh.” The Bar Council call on the members of the Legal Profession to march from the Federal Court to the Prime Minister office, without once considering that they have by their conduct condemn several people without due process.

Yet Anwar Ibrahim wants due process to be accorded to him, even after the Courts have upheld his conviction.

This is the perverse logic of the convicted criminal and his emotional followers.

Tampering of Evidence

The evidence, if there is any is the original video recording. The edited version, by law is evidence which has been expressly admitted as having been edited and is therefore not the primary and original evidence. It is tampered evidence.

Yet the public is called upon to accept without reservation the truth of the said edited and tampered video recording as being conclusive of the allegations spewed out by the convicted criminal.

Anwar Ibrahim and his accomplices must be charged for tampering with evidence. They must on pain of prosecution disclose their source, failing which their integrity must be questioned.

This is a matter of the highest principle. As otherwise, anyone can make an accusation or allegation based on edited or tampered evidence or without disclosing the source and the victim of the allegation is then subject to public condemnation and ridicule – trial by the tabloids.

This is extremely dangerous.

To those who oppose my stand on this issue, let me use a simple analogy and I hope that those who oppose me will not be a victim of such scams.

Analogy

Suppose, a man came up with a video recording of a well known blogger/ journalist raping a woman. The video recording is 14 minutes but was reduced to 8 minutes. The recording is not too clear, but it does suggest that it is a well known blogger/journalist.

Alternatively, the video recording is that of a well known CEO.

I am giving you a choice to decide whether it is a blogger/journalist or a CEO in this analogy.

Query

After the mass media published the video recording, has the blogger/journalist or the CEO, the legal right to demand from the man who gave out the video to demand the source of his information and how he obtained the video?

Would the friends of the blogger/journalist or CEO the right to demand that the public not make any judgments until the authenticity of the video has been established?

Would you consider the man who openly said that he had edited the video recording, as having tampered with the evidence?

Would you not query the man, that if he had wanted to protect the source, all he had to do was to report to the ACA as such reports are confidential?

Even if the man had no confidence in the ACA, is there no other avenues to expose the alleged crime by the blogger/journalist or CEO? He could have given it to a foreign media and let them handle the situation?

Back To Reality

Please consider this aspect of the “Video Recording”. It is not so simple. Consider the timing of this alleged exposure. Why is Anwar Ibrahim not willing to disclose the source? I would like to suggest that Keadilan wanted the cake and eat it as well. Anwar Ibrahim wants to be the hero. He wants to reform the judiciary. This is the agenda of a convicted criminal for corruption.

What is the Anwar Ibrahim’s Agenda?

For the past nine months, he has been conducting an insidious campaign to overturn his conviction. He has cleverly cast aspersions on some key witnesses who had testified against him.

The main target was and still is the Inspector General of Police. AT THE TRIAL, evidence was led that ANWAR IBRAHIM the convicted criminal, had instructed the police (Special Branch) to extract a retraction from Azizan his allegation that he was sodomised by ANWAR IBRAHIM. He was able to do this because at the material time he was the Deputy Prime Minister. He had abused his power. For that he was convicted and his conviction has been upheld by the Federal Court.

I therefore question the ulterior motive of some of the lawyers who have deliberately taken the stand of ignoring this crucial finding by the Courts. This is despicable and a travesty of justice.

Is the victim of the sodomy not entitled to justice? He was a brave man to accuse the then Deputy Prime Minister. There has been no evidence that he accused Anwar Ibrahim of sodomising him for some other reasons other than he could not take it anymore. He was a mere driver! Azizan was never accused of trying to blackmail Anwar Ibrahim. He had nothing to gain but everything to lose by making the police report.

In this sordid affair, Azizan is the VICTIM OF INJUSTICE. Not Anwar Ibrahim as he was convicted of corruption! Read all the judgments concerning the charge of corruption.

I wonder what would be your reaction, if it was your wife, sister or brother that is the victim!

But Anwar Ibrahim must be given every benefit of doubt even when he has been convicted of corruption. Such is the blind loyalty of some of his followers that they are willing to jettison well established principles of law and justice so that their Master and Leader can return to power. This is day dreaming. Wake up!

Anwar Ibrahim’s followers condemn corruption but are willing to serve blindly a man who is a convicted criminal – on a charge of corruption.

Can they have any credibility?????

I do not know whether the video recording, the subject matter of so much pubic debate is authentic or not. I make no judgment for the simple reason that the relevant authorities must be given the time to investigate it and I have no right to pre-empt and condemn a man when he has not been given due process and investigations have not been completed.

A MAN IS INNOCENT UNTIL PROVEN GUILTY.

BUT IT IS SAD TO NOTE THAT A MOB HAVE DECIDED TO CONDUCT A PUBLIC LYNCHING – THEY HAVE DECIDED TO BE THE JUDGE, JURY AND EXECUTIONER.

SHAME ON ALL OF YOU

SINCE WHEN YOU HAVE THE RIGHT OR AUTHORITY TO CONDUCT A PUBLIC LYNCHING?

Darah diperlukan sempena cuti Hari Raya Aidilfitri
