Mukhriz confirmed to contest in P5 Jerlun


Its just been announced that UMNO Youth Exco in-charge of International Affairs Dato’ Mukhriz Mahathir would be given the P5 Jerlun parliamentary constituency to contest as the Barisan Nasional candidate, this XII General Elections on 8 March 2008.


This announcement was made by Kedah Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Mahadzir Khalid a moment ago in Alor Star. Mahadzir is also the Kedah BN Liaison Chief.

This quashed amidst strong speculations, including contradictory statements in the media that Mukhriz would be contesting in Langkawi parliamentary seat. Dato’ Abu Bakar Taib, the incumbent MP will contest for his fourth term in the island resort.

In March 2004 XI General Elections, Dato’ Abdul Rahman Ariffin of BN defeated Idris Ahmad of PAS for a 2,142 majority, in the 44,148 voters rural constituency. Rahman was a first term MP for Jerlun and also UMNO Jerlun Head.
