Tun Dr. Mahathir’s advice is about ‘Level Four Boys’ influence still

Fourth Prime Minister Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad gave a Statesman-ly advice to outgoing PM ‘Flip-Flop’ Dato’ Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi. He said for PM ‘Flip-Flop’ Abdullah to leave incoming Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Mohd. Najib Tun Razak alone, “leave him alone and not meddle into his administration”.

Of course, some of PM ‘Flip-Flop’ Abdullah’s closest allies reacted adversely to this call. The NST has the story:

Dr M gets flak over advice

KUALA LUMPUR: Umno leaders have come out to strongly criticise Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad for telling Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi to keep quiet after handing over power to his successor.

De facto Law Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Nazri Abdul Aziz said Dr Mahathir should have followed his own advice.

“He is the right person to say this because that is exactly what he did.”

He said Dr Mahathir did not keep quiet or allow Abdullah to run the country freely after handing over the premiership to him.

“He should have followed his own advice instead of creating all the trouble for us.”

Tourism Minister Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said agreed with Nazri that Dr Mahathir should have followed his own words.

Azalina said Dr Mahathir’s statement was like adding salt to an open wound.

“Tun should not feel that he is always right by giving advice. It is going to weaken the party further,” she said, adding that he should instead set a good example to the younger leaders.

Information Minister Datuk Ahmad Shabery Cheek questioned what Dr Mahathir meant by asking Abdullah to keep quiet.

He said Dr Mahathir should set an example for Umno leaders.

Higher Education Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Khaled Nordin said Dr Mahathir’s statement was unbecoming.

He said there was no need for anyone to say anything as both Abdullah and his successor Datuk Seri Najib Razak knew how to conduct themselves after the handover.

Home Minister Datuk Seri Syed Hamid Albar noted that he did not see much risk of interference from Abdullah once he stepped down.

“The fact is all former prime ministers have got the tendency to comment, so this is a normal thing. What is most important is to make sure there is no interference.

“Maybe Dr Mahathir is reminding Pak Lah based on his own personal experience,” he said, perhaps alluding to the vocal criticisms by the former prime minister against Abdullah.

“His (Abdullah’s) decision was made not in a personal interest but in the interest of the nation and party, so I do not think he would interfere (in the government),” Syed Hamid added.

**********************

The fact is that, these leaders either got it all wrong or simply sore of what happened to PM ‘Flip-Flop’ Abdullah recently and want to take it out against Tun Dr. Mahathir, the former’s strongest critic.

It is common knowledge that forming and seeing through policies, especially strategic in nature is never a trait of PM ‘Flip-Flop’ Abdullah. Some other people had been doing his ‘thinking’ for him and this had become to obvious. Tun Dr. Mahathir’s advice to PM ‘Flip-Flop’ Abdullah is about not having any further of his or Abdullah & Co’s tentacles operating within Dato’ Seri Najib’s administration. PM ‘Flip-Flop’ Abdullah and/or Abdullah & Co’s policies had been nothing short of a complete blunder so far. Dato’ Seri Najib should at least undo, if not come up with better policies. Of course, the  ‘Level Four Boys’ network should not be part of the undo process or forming up new policies.

Then there is thing about Abdullah & Co., particularly Dato’ Kamaluddin Abdullah’s ventures, which has gone particularly bad lately and how much in deep end of the pool for the ultra ambitious businessman.  Naturally he needed all the help he could get, even scrouge what ever left there is.

This other family member, Khairy Jamaluddin, who is a shareholder of ECM Libra and had caused several strong criticism on his ventures in the corporate world. They both have some strategic vested interests in making sure the upcoming Prime Minister’s policies, if not decisions have some direct or indirect benefits to them.

Not forgeting the ambitious Khairy Jamaluddin, who presently is vying for the UMNO Youth top post seat. How possibly can anyone imagine Khairy would have a place in Dato’ Seri Najib’s new administration of UMNO? His presence still in UMNO’s echelon is about still having the ‘influence’ in decision making, where Malaysians in sundry rejected, as per shown in the 8 March XII General Elections and subsequently, the August Permatang Pauh by elections.

Then again, we should all not and never forget how PM ‘Flip-Flop’ Abdullah promised to follow through all the projects and policies planned, put in place and implemented since predecessor’s Tun Dr. Mahathir’s time. In a mere two weeks after assuming office, the promise where broken and things started to change. Then there were more changes; Malaysian foreign policies, the Scenic Bridge project, Bakun dam, Proton, Malaysia Airlines etc. It only demonstrate that he is impulsive in his approach and decisions. Someone like that should not be trusted anymore, even when he is no longer in power. He would gained public attention from making statements on policies of the new adminsitration, would be deemed ‘necessary’ rather than ‘merely seeking popularity’ and actually detrimental in long term, just like how PM ‘Flip-Flop’ Abdullah had been doing in running the country since 1 November 2003.

The world, especially Malaysians have seen how the last four and half years brought the nation’s politics, economic, foreign policies, inter ethnic and faith relations and public relations as a whole to near catastrophic proportions. PM ‘Flip-Flop’ Abdullah by far created the record from the most popular and convincing Prime Minister with a landslide mandate in March 2004 and digressed  unprecedentedly to the most unpopular Prime Minsiter and brought BN to a record low when it did not manage to retain the historical 2/3 control of the Dewan Rakyat, lost control in 5 +  1 states and did not manage to instal the UMNO’s choice Menteri Besar in two states, all within a span of 48 months.

In the final analysis, how could a wholesomely failed Prime Minister like PM ‘Flip-Flop’ Abdullah give any worthy and/or credible advice to the upcoming Prime Minister? If so, then there should no longer any more issue about PM ‘Flip-Flop’ Abdullah having the intention to give upcoming Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Najib any advice what so ever.

  1. The way Datuk Nazri said to Tun is really rude. Full of sarcasm and euphemism. And what Tun said all this while is for the Malaysia’s sake. He has no any special interest to this country. I think what Tun meant is the level four’s boys should back off.

  2. JUST SHUT UP ABDULLAH !

  3. nst and those politicians who made their comments are obviously ignorant where time line is concerned.
Tun Dr Mahathir never interfered in Abdullah’s administrator for the first couple of years. He only started making comments after blunders were mae following “exclusive” advices given by the Rourth Floor boys.
But the fourth floor boys are trying to make their presence felt even after DS Abdullah steps down. One is vying the Umno vice chief post. Another is lobbying to be DSN’s consultant for the finance ministry portfolio.
Alrteady they have convinced DSN our economy is still strong despite the looming threat.
    SIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

  5. mahathir also shut up!!

  6. Pak lah ! please take a long long leave and enjoy your holiday with Jean ,let Najib run run this country peacefully, afterall the rakyat has said GOODBYE to you.

Cukup lah we have enough of you !

(Bar Council is not the council for drinkers in bar by the way)

What is good for Malaysia and Malaysians should be to priority always.

  8. sayang pak lah pada keluarga merupakan punca kejatuhan

  9. The cabinet ministers honeymoon period has ended, the sleepy prime minister is going to sleep somewhere else..where nobody will try to wake him up. Incoming will be Najib. He’s not perfect but at least he’s not sleeping. The cabinet ministers are crossing their fingers in hoping to be retained.Pak Lah should not be allowed to give advice even on the color scheme of Najib’s new office. His brain can’t even advise his body not to fall asleep.

  10. Nama2 diatas dan kata2nya perlu dingat selepas ini. Mereka ni masih tak sedar hakikat bahawa sikap mereka inilah UMNO makin tersisih.

  11. The SIL is the one who should be quiet (stop contesting in Pemuda) if he wants UMNO/BN to survive in the next coming General Election…~

  12. AZALINA , NAZRI, SABERY, KHALED NI 4 MANUSIA KURANG AJAR,TAK SEDAR DIRI. PU NANTI AKU KEMPEN HABIS-HABISAN JANGAN UNDI MEREKA BEREMPAT NI.

KALAU TAK KERANA TUN DULU SIAPALAH MEREKA NI.

TANYA KAKITANGAN KEMENTERIAN PELANCONGAN TENTANG PERANGAI AZALINA SEBENARNYA.

  13. ADA ORANG KATA PERMATANG PAUH NI PENUH SEDARA MARA SI ANU? SELISIH M44

Lepas tu dok desak2 Pak Lah turun. Dia patut sedar apa yang dia cakap tu.

  15. Tun M didn’t leave Abdullah alone to do his job. he had been a constant pain in the butt for Abdullah. Even to the extent of telling people not to vote for Barisan…and now he wants Abdullah to leave Najib alone to his job.

p.s. with Najib as PM, its as good as goodbye to Barisan in the next election.
