Another one bites the dust!

As they say, the truth would eventually prevail. To those who were skeptical, how everything turned out in the end shows it all. Justice Ian “Boot Camp Judge” Chin had to throw in his towel.

‘Boot camp’ judge resigns

KUALA LUMPUR: A High Court judge who revealed the existence of a boot camp for judges back in 1997 has tendered his resignation and will leave office on Dec 1.

Datuk Ian Chin wrote a letter to the King on July 16 to resign and went on leave on Aug 21.

Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department T. Murugiah said this in reply to Tian Chua (PKR – Batu) who asked whether the Government had taken steps to investigate the accusations made by Chin against former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.

With Chin’s resignation, there was no need to investigate the matter, said Murugiah.

Earlier, Murugiah told Datuk Mukhriz Mahathir (BN – Jerlun) that the Government did not intend to make representation to the King to put Chin before a tribunal.

On July 15, several MPs, while debating on the Judges Remuneration (Amendment) Bill, criticised Chin in the Dewan Rakyat over his war of words with Dr Mahathir.

Some questioned his revelation, made only after Dr Mahathir had stepped down, and some called for him to be sacked for being “judicially immature”.

It prompted Speaker Tan Sri Pandikar Amin Mulia to intervene. He asked Karpal Singh to read out Article 127 of the Federal Constitution and Parliament’s Standing Order 36(8) to remind MPs not to debate on judges’ behaviour unless a substantive motion was moved with the consent of 55 MPs.

In June, Chin caused a stir when he claimed that Dr Mahathir had made a thinly veiled threat against judges at the Judges Conference on April 24, 1997.

He claimed Dr Mahathir had threatened to sack judges who failed to deliver judgments to his or the Government’s liking.

Chin had also said that Dr Mahathir was dissatisfied over his unwillingness to award astronomical sums in damages in two libel suits in 1997, and that “errant” judges had been sent to a boot camp in an “attempt to indoctrinate them to hold the view that the Government’s interest was more important than all else”.

Dr Mahathir, in his blog, said the judges were never sent to a boot camp.

When this sensationalized story was brought up by this attention seeking judge, lawyer Matthias Chang responded. He made a Police report against Chin. The one time political secretary to the fourth Prime Minister even dared the Chief Justice to step up and tell the truth on what Chin had claimed.

Then Tun Dr. Mahathir himself called for Chin should be investigated in a special tribunal, at a purposed press statement, in his wonderful private office on the Level 86 of Tower One, KLCC, to tell his story.

This is definitely great news for all.

Regardless, the special tribunal to investigate now citizen Ian Chin should continue, despite his premature departure from the bench. Let the truth be told, like how it should have been; on the stand. Let the judge be judged. Then, we all will get our fair share of what people like Ian Chin supposed to do, instead of being a sensational pseudo politician. The decision he made with regards on cases he personally had vested interests must be exposed.

Another thirteen million Ringgit question ought to be asked here, where is the Bar Council in this? Will these loud minorities behaving like a righteous majority and monopoly on opinion, take their usual apparent biasness stance and put up a really flimsy justification, again?

  1. yeah

    speak up bar council

the champion of freedom of speech

    social contract = soothing noise?

    ian chin = deafening silence?

Lepaskan Chin pergi, kecuali beliau ingin melalak seperti Zaid. Memang Chin dan Zaid sudah lupa banyak perkara. Manakala Anwar pula langsung lupa segala-galanya.

  3. The erosion of Umno leadership credibility has become more apparent after the two historic rallies by Bersih and Hindraf.

The impact of these two mammoth peaceful rallies by the Malaysian public, despite draconian and barbaric threats by the Umno-regulated police force, clearly indicates the progressive degeneration of Umno and its effeminate coalition member parties.

Shocked and dumbfounded, the arrogant Umno leaders whose minds are obscured by political egocentrism, did not know what struck them.

It is just the beginning. Justice and fairness cannot be contained by mortal power forever.

These are the definite signs of Umno impending fall and decline.

Umno is not challenged by Malaysians alone.

The entire fair-minded and civilised world has joined in to expose its political crimes committed in the guise of democracy.

The power of truth is fast devastating Umno and its coalition partners.

We thank God for letting this happen. Umno’s heydays are numbered.

It is getting weaker and becoming more of a parasite than a respected political party with genuine dignity.

At last, the road map for the corrupt Umno’s final collapse has been charted.

The people, propelled by the power of truth, has finally decided to rid the nation of a party that has forsaken its duty to safeguard the interests of the people.

May God bless the people of Malaysia for their great spirit in upholding truth, justice and fairness.

Let us Malaysians, irrespective of race or creed, bring greatness to our beloved nation.

This comment is inappropriate to the posting. You seemed to be interested to ONLY do UMNO bashing and not address the issues raised in the posting.

We know who you are. Last warning!

  5. There is no UMNO in Sarawak but the end of BN there is now imminent.

Judge Chin will be standing in Sarawak next State Assembly election on PKR ticket.

    Goodbye BN!

  6. Salam Bro,

I wonder why did you not response on Tan Lian Hoes’s statement that Malays is also immigrants same as the Chinese and Indians.

I wish you can put some writing on this issue so that this culprit does not get away with stone in her hand.

Same as what Gerakan and MCA did to Ahmad Ismail, Lian Hoe’s racist statement must be punished.

I wonder why all the Malay medias on keep focus on the UMNO Election, while this culprit who tried sinisterly retelling our country history is let go just like that!

Some action must be taken on this racist Chinese. Don’t let them keep pushing us to the corner without a fight back. Write something you MUST!!

    Untuk Agama, Bangsa dan Negara!!

    No need. Its there, everywhere.

    The Malays are never immigrants.

    1. They come from the same archipelago
    2. They practice they same culture, language, religion, lifestyle etc, throughout the archipelago
    3. They have the same history and once upon of time or another, belong under the same rule of the same Malay ruler
    4. They live by similar, if not exactly same code of conduct, protocol and unwritten laws
    5. They move within these waters naturally and adaptation and assimilation between kampungs, islands, districts, state and/or region is near seamless.

    Unlike the Chinese and Indians:

    1. Their natural habitat is a continent elsewhere
    2. They have absolutely different culture, language, religion and lifestyle, in sundry, from the inhabitants of this archipelago
    3. Their history is completely different and totally unrelated to the indigenous people of this archipelago
    4. Their code of conduct, protocol and unwritten laws are completely different
    5. They were brought to Malaya by a third party colonial master and/or entrepreneur specifically for the colonial economic reasons

Its all there! Look around us.

We dont make oit a habit to highlight these facts over and over again. But there are times, some idiots prefer to skew the facts how their ancestors were brought here and manipulate history. Some people simply choose to shut one eye of these real facts.

Unless the Chinese and Indians can completely do away with items 1-6, then they will still be “Kaum Pendatang”!

  7. […] was neither a walk in park. Inadvertently after much controversies, High Court Judge Ian Chin finally ‘bites the dust’. The pro-Riong Kali again tried to demonize Tun Dr. Mahathir for the latter’s […]
