Khairy cuba tai-chi punca sebenar kekalahan P36 Kuala Terengganu

Khairy: Unfair to blame candidate only

KUANTAN: All those involved in the Kuala Terengganu by-election should shoulder the responsibility for the defeat of Barisan Nasional to PAS, says Umno Youth deputy chief Khairy Jamaluddin.

The Rembau MP said it was unfair to just blame the candidate.

“If that was the only factor, our job would be much easier,” he told reporters here.

He said the defeat must be a lesson to be put to good use, such as the need to early start comprehensive preparations, study the current political scenario as well as review the campaigning and local issues.

“I feel it is better that it happened now rather than during the general election, as we can learn and try to make amends,” he said.

In Kuala Lumpur, former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad was one of those who blamed the defeat on the choice of candidate.

He told reporters voters rejected the Barisan candidate not because they supported PAS, but because they disliked Barisan’s leadership more than the opposition.

He added Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak was not to be blamed for the by-election loss as Datuk Wan Ahmad Farid Wan Salleh was Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi’s choice.

**********************************

Rakyat Terengganu kalah 0-2!

Keputusan Pilihanraya Kecil (PRK) P36 Kuala Terengganu diumumkan sebentar tadi. Calon Pas Abdul Wahab Endot berjaya dipilih sebagai MP Kuala Terengganu dengan majoriti sebanyak 2,631 undi mengalahkan Mantan Timbalan Menteri Dalam Negeri dan Ahli Dewan Negara Senator Dato’ Wan Farid Wan Salleh.

Timbalan Perdana Menteri Dato’ Seri Mohd.

Semasa Allahyarham Dato’ Razali Ismail menjawat Timbalan Menteri Pelajaran, Senator Dato’ Wan Farid pula menjawat Timbalan Menteri Dalam Negeri. Meletakan calon yang satu masa dahulu  Setiausaha Politik PM ‘Flip-Flop’ Dato’ Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi  di Kementerian Keselamatan Dalam Negeri Dato’ Wan Farid sebagai calon P36 itu sudah memastikan Terengganu hanya mempunyai seorang Timbalan Menteri, sekiranya beliau menang. Nyata, keputusan rakyat Kuala Terengganu malam ini rakyat Terengganu kalah 0-2, kerana salah pilih calon mewakili UMNO/BN.  Rakyat Terengganu hilang kedua dua jawatan Timbalan Menteri!

Najib says Umno not an extremist party, as Pakatan steps up attack

<!–[if gte vml 1]> <![endif]–><!–[if !vml]–><!–[endif]–>By Neville Spykerman

KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 12- Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak, today denied UMNO was a party of extremists, amid a campaign to by Pas to portray it as racist or anti-Chinese in the Kuala Terengganu by-election campaign.

“UMNO is not an extreme party because we have always adopted very moderate and pragmatic policies.” said Najib, to counter the election strategy adopted by the Islamist party, to woo Chinese voters.

In Kuala Terengganu, banners with images of former Bukit Bendera Umno division chief Datuk Ahmad Ismail and Datuk Mukhriz Mahathir, with the words “UMNO is becoming more extreme” in Mandarin, have been put up.

The banners are an indication of an increasingly tight race, in which both Barisan Nasional (BN) and Pas are fighting hard to woo the Chinese swing votes in the expectation that the majority Malay support will be shared evenly between the two parties.

Pas’s strategy is clearly to remind Chinese voters of the antics of Datuk Ahmad Ismail, who labelled the Chinese squatters last year, and the recent remarks of Mukhriz, who suggested a single national education system to replace vernacular schools.

Umno, on the other hand, have been using the hudud issue to drive a wedge between Pas and its Pakatan Rakyat (PR) partner DAP. Pas’s support for hudud, the strict Islamic code which prescribes stoning, amputation and whipping as punishment for criminal offences, is also being exploited by BN to scare away any Chinese support for the Islamist party.

Najib, who has been one of the driving forces behind BN’s campaign in Kuala Terengganu, described Pas’s tactic of using Ahmad’s and Mukhriz’s words against Umno, as an opportunistic play by the opposition.

He said voters should judge Umno by its policies and not by the statements of individuals.

“Statements from individuals do not constitute policy.”

He added that UMNO could also resort to such tactics, if they wanted, because the opposition had also made extreme comments which can upset the Malay community.

************************************

Najib Tun Razak disokong Mukhriz.

Ucapan mengesa agar barangan Amerika Syarikat diboikot

Beliau menyatakan demikian semasa melancarkan Tabung Kemanusiaan Palestin, UMNO Bahagian Marang di Kampung Undang, Marang, Terengganu.

p1000780

Melancarkan tabung Palestin peringkat UMNO Bhg Marang

p1000802Mukhriz ditemuramah media, dikelilingi Pemuda UMNO Marang. Antaranya, calon Exco Pemuda UMNO Akhramsyah Muammar Ubaidah Sanusi

Call for boycott on Singapore, as Israel’s defense partner

Recently, there have been calls for Malaysians to boycott US made products, in support of the latest brutal invasion on the Palestinians in Gaza, which already cost the lives of over 750 innocent civilians, especially non combatants like women, children and old folks. We should also look closely the other major supporters  and ‘strategic partners’ of Israel, in the terms of defense, especially people so close to us.

SAR 21 assault rifles and ammunition have been used to brutalise and massacre the defenseless and downtrodden non combatants Palestinians in Gaza, including women and children. Little that the world realise, SAR 21 automatic assault rifles are indigenous weapon developed and manufactured by Singapore Technologies. The CEO of Temasek Holdings is Ho Ching, the wife of Singapore Prime Minister Brig. Gen. (NS) Lee Hsien Loong. Temasek Holdings is the parent company to Singapore Technologies, a GLC.

singapore-israel

Singapore, have had very close and strategic partnership with the Israelis, especially in defense since their expulsion from the Federation of Malaysia 9 Aug 1965. Within two months, Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew received the Israeli Defense Attache based in their embassy in Bangkok for immediate military assistance, in favour against India and Egypt. Soon, six military advisers were dispatched to form the Singapore’s pioneer military unit; the First Infantry Regiment, commonly known now as 1 SIR. The rest is as they say, is history.

Till present as being very good friends, Singaporeans still receive military assitance, especially advance training from the Israelis. Formalised military collaborations have been strengthened since then, especially when formal organisations are formed for the co-operation and development projects. The  effort put by both nations on R & D work on defense and strategic weaponry is immense. The progress and direction all of these co-operation and joint developmental work should be worried and frightened about. Singapore is Israeli third most important strategic partner in defense development.

Time an again, Singapore is being coined as “The Israel of the East”. Hence, Malaysians should unanimously support the call to boycott Singaporean products, in support of our brothers living vicariously in their homes, now under siege and brutal bombardment.

MCA Leaders insulting the Malays again?

The Hudud Law issue is really taking up centre stage in the P36 Kuala Terengganu by-elections campaign, now into high gear in octane-propelled drive, which is focused on getting the Non Malays, especially Chinese votes, deemed as the deciding factor. In the zestfulness of getting attention, some issues raised could be deemed as seditious.

The Star has this report:

Friday January 9, 2009

Karpal hits out at Anwar over statement on hudud law

KUALA LUMPUR: Karpal Singh has lashed out at PKR de facto leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim saying his assertion that hudud laws apply only to Muslims is a fallacy.

The DAP national chairman said Anwar’s statement that there was no need to reject hudud law as it was only applicable to Muslims was diametrically opposed to PAS’ avowed aim to turn Malaysia into an Islamic state.

“This has been PAS’ stand from its inception as is clearly reflected by the statements by former and present leaders of PAS,” he said in a statement yesterday.

He noted that PAS spiritual leader Datuk Nik Aziz Nik Mat was quoted late last month as saying: “I cannot see why they (non-Muslims) cannot accept hudud laws which are no different from the colonial laws of the West”.

Karpal Singh, who is also Bukit Gelugor MP, said that for hudud laws to be applicable, the prerequisite would be the setting up of an Islamic state where Islamic laws were applicable to both Muslims and non-Muslims.

“It is important for Anwar to know exactly what PAS intends to do in calling for the setting up of an Islamic state,” he said, adding: “Perhaps PAS president Hadi Awang should clear the air as to whether hudud laws intended by PAS are applicable to both Muslims and non-Muslims in the event PAS succeeds in setting up an Islamic state.”

Karpal Singh said Malaysia was not an Islamic state and the passing and implementation of hudud laws would be unconstitutional.

MCA Information and Communication Bureau chief Lee Wei Kiat also hit out at Anwar, saying the Opposition leader’s statement saying that hudud was only for Muslims but at the same time saying that Islamic legislative aspects should not just be confined to Syariah family or civil law was contradictory.

“The statements appear to please different listeners. It still leaves the option of expanding Syariah laws against non-Muslims open,” he said in a statement.

He called on Anwar to respect the country’s parliamentary democracy which included upholding the rights of every Malaysian.

“Our party rejects any form of a theocratic state and hudud laws. MCA would like to reiterate that Anwar should honestly inform voters that hudud laws would not only affect Muslims but also deprive their rights in various aspects of their lives,” he said.

**************************************

If The Star reporting on the story is accurate, then something  gravely should be done here. The MCA Information and Communication Bureau Chief Lee Wei Kiat statement is blasphemous. How could Lee comment on how Hudud Law affect and “deprive the rights in various aspects of their lives” of Malaysian Muslim? Who is he and what qualifications has he possesses to iterate such statement?

Probably, to say something about implementation of Hudud Law is acceptable. But to say Hudud Law “depriving the rights” of Malaysian Muslim, should be deemed nothing less than blasphemous and seditious. Lee should be charged for inciting anger amongst Muslims!

Lately, what is MCA Leaders trying to achieve with their statements deemed against the interests of the spirit of muhibbah, tolerance and working as a team?

UMNO should now act on this, despite having to fight this morally pertinent and important contest next weekend. Being a senior partner of the BN coalition and ‘kongsi kuasa’ formula and and immensely enjoyed the benefit being voted into power by the Malay majority for over 53 years now, MCA Leaders have time and again insulted the Malays as the majority of this country. This blatant disregard for the feelings and interests of the majority simply has to stop!

We seriously hope that The Star made an error in this reporting. Even such, the motive and agenda of The Star editors is highly questionable. MCA, which has the clout and influence in The Star, should be reprimanded for allowing either the mistake in reporting or worst still, the blasphemous and seditious statement of the Malaysian Chinese party propaganda Chief.

What will happen to patients like Hashim when Sime Darby takes over?

bloody-slimy

On the eve of the Government making a decision on the hiving off Institut Jantung Negara to Sime Darby Bhd., there is a story that deserve the attention on how the life of someone who has contributed immensely to society is being gambled because of the demands of capitalism supersedes the importance of making a social and humanitarian decision.

Hashim Hussain “Prof” Yaacob, was a former senior lecturer of sociology and developmental economics at USM for years, throughout its formative and developmental stage, till he was unjustly and abruptly terminated and dismissed by then Vice Chancellor Dato’ Musa Mohamad. Hence, he lost his pension and all the medical benefits a senior government servant usually enjoy for the rest of their lives.

hashim2

Now at 60 and suffering from acute diabetes, he is diagnosed for acute triple arterial blockages, between 95-100% and due of coronary arterial by-pass graft surgery (CABG or “cabbage”) at IJN on Monday. That is something that will easily cost slightly more than RM 50,000.00.

Hashim does not have that kind of money. Infact he has no savings. Since the dismissal, Hashim, who is single and never been married, has been doing odd jobs and projects on adhoc basis, to earn a living.  A simplistic man who practices the socialistic life he professes, he now face a juncture where the system might not have social justice after all. The challenge for the moment is how can he raise that kind of cash, in less than seven days.

He is an Old Putra. He used to enjoy being in the company of now, men in illustrious capacity, mostly in the corporate world. Malaysia Airlines Chairman Tan Sri Dr Munir Majid, Peremba Chairman Tan Sri Razali Abdul Rahman, CIMB Chairman Tan Sri Mohd. Nor Yusof and former Chief of Armed Forces Jen. (B) Tan Sri Mohd. Zahidi Zainuddin, were all his batch mates, if not Company mates when they were in the Royal Military College (Class of ’64). Even Malaysia Airlines Managing Director Dato’ Seri Idris Jala and MARA Chairman and former Terengganu Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Idris Jusoh were his students in USM. So are other great men and women, who have benefited from his tutelage and explicitly sharing of thought process. To many who have had the opportunity to pick his brains, like yours truly, Hashim has social issues especially poverty high on his agenda, close to his heart and never shy to speak his mind of.

Money had always been scarce for Hashim. More over now, the state where he gravely needs financial assistance for his very big surgery, in seven days time. This is the time where Hashim is challenged by the system what his own ‘Perjuangan’ stood for, all these years.

All of these facts are even before IJN is being taken over by Sime Darby. Managing a very exclusive and luxurious hospital SJMC in Subang Jaya, heart patients have been known to be turned away because the surgeons ‘prefer’ not to do “complicated cases”. It makes business sense because as a capitalist entity, mortality would not be good for ‘marketing plans’. Impeccable post-CABG survival rate will have very strong co-relations on the admission of further patients, especially amongst the ‘haves’ and those who are admitted with ‘guarantee letters’. This something most probably is in the top most priority the minds of corporate planners and strategists like Hisham Hamdan.

At least now, Hashim is having a life fighting chance when IJN is willing to treat him. The challenge is now to get the funds where else the appointment date has been made. Otherwise, in the management of a capitalistic entity with profit as the top most agenda, most probably Hashim will not even get a chance to be evaluated for the decision to have surgery.  The popular wager now would be, when Sime Darby takes over IJN, Hashim-like surgeries would cost a lot more than RM 50,000.00!

Would there be more of Hashims if and when IJN is being Sime Darby-ised into a capitalistic medical facility, with profitability is high on the priority Vs preservation of life?

SAVE HASHIM! SAVE IJN!

God bless and God speed…………….

*Updated 6 Jan 2009 1300hrs

More information about Hashim on Gurindam Jiwa blog. Any kind donours are welcomed to bank any contribution to Hashim Hussain Yaacob’s Maybank account 112183-125555

*Updated 9 Jan 2009 1215hrs

A CIMB account has been opened under the name of “Mohd. Nor Yusof” (A/C. No. 14170024244050) by Old Putras to help Hashim fund his triple CABG surgery, due next week. It will be active for ONLY 8 WEEKS starting today. Contributions and donations are most welcome.

God bless everyone who chipped into helping Hashim out.

Save IJN!

What ever the justification is, IJN should remain where it is and not be guzzled into a corporate giant, for all the wrong commercial reasons. The social responsibilities that the IJN set to serve is being met. So, if it’s not broken, what the bloody hell Sime Darby wants to fix it????

Ten of thousands of Malaysians have termendously benefited and had extension of life, God’s most precious gift to mankind. From Sultans to paupers. From Prime Minister to teenagers. Even the highly acclaimed Mayo Clinic of Rochester, Wisconsin, gave thumbs up for an extraordinarily outstanding heart centre, in this region.

SAVE IJN!
