Khalid berselindung untuk pertahankan Mat King Leather

MB Pakatan Rakyat Selangor Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim cuba memutar belitkan titah DYMM Sultan Selangor Tuanku Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Ibni Almarhum Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz mengingatkan Selangor mengenai ancaman keatas orang Melayu dari semua sudut. Ini termasuk kekesalan baginda apabila institiusi Raja Raja Melayu dipersoalkan.

Laporan Utusan Malaysia:

Sultan Selangor dukacita institusi raja Melayu dipertikai

29/11/2010 1:27pm

SHAH ALAM 29 Nov.

– Utusan

***************

MB S’gor: Raja Melayu perlu awasi ‘Si Kitol’

29 Nov, 10 5:25pm

Top most of 365,000 searches is….

BERUK

This morning we would want to be slightly mischievous. It is not by design on our part but instead its by default of common ‘understanding’ and popularity, using the most widely used search engine.

We would suggest everyone google the word “BERUK”. See what is TOP of a list consist of 365,000 searches.

The most important “Thirteen Million Plus Ringgit” question here is that, how and why google list that link as the TOP MOST POPULAR or CLOSELY ASSOCIATED to “BERUK”?

Wan Azizah rubbishing ‘Ketuanan Melayu’ for PKR’s desperate survival?

PKR President Wan Azizah Wan Ismail rubbished the concept of ‘Ketuanan Melayu’ in her sordid attempt to recover any shred of support that could be salvaged from the inevitable dismantling of a party that was formed for the sole purpose for husband Anwar “Mat King Leather” Ibrahim to get ‘revenge’ for being sacked from Cabinet and UMNO on 2 September 1998.

Sin Chew Jit Poh’s story:

Wan Azizah’s statement an attempt to salvage sinking ship: Muhyiddin

2010-11-28 18:05

KUALA LUMPUR, Sunday 28 November 2010 (Bernama) — Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin described the remark by Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) president Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail yesterday as an attempt “to salvage a sinking ship.”

In her keynote address at the PKR congress, Wan Azizah said the notions of “ketuanan Melayu” (Malay supremacy) should be abandoned so that the younger generation would grow up with the vision of “dignified race” or “dignified Malay.”

Muhyiddin said the statement was made in an attempt to win the support of the people at a time when the party was in disarray following a divisive party election.

Muhyiddin said PKR leaders should respect Article 153 of the Federal Constitution which provides a safeguard for the special position of the Malays and Bumiputera as well as the interests of other communities.

This provision should serve as a guiding principle in championing the cause of the people, he said. “However, it seems that this is not the case with PKR.”

Speaking to reporters after visiting the Malaysian Agriculture, Horticulture and Agrotourism (MAHA) 2010 here, Muhyiddin said there were an increasing number of PKR members who were dissatisfied with the party.

“Many have left and party branches and divisions closed. The recent party elections demonstrated how in disarray the party has become.

“They talk about principles, about fighting for democracy but this does not seem to be a practice in the party,” he said.

On Wan Azizah’s statement that PKR advisor Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim was “a great man bestowed by God” to be the leader of the people, Muhyiddin said, Wan Azizah should be realistic in her assessment.

He said Wan Azizah might have uttered the statement out of love for her husband and therefore the remark was more personal in nature.

*******

We don’t feel we need to put forth a rebuttal to this what seemed to be a desperation call. One of our readers sent us an e mail to explain what ‘Ketuanan Melayu’ is all about.

Hence, herewith we shal publish that in full:

(1)” Ketuanan Melayu”  was a ‘slogan’ used by our forefather was to remind and unite the Malays with the highest justification of covenant .
(2) The justification of Ketuanan Melayu becomes the ‘right ‘ when it further stipulates and enshrines in our constitution .
(3) Ketuanan Melayu was not just plucked out from the heavenly sky but had demonstrated in the historical evolution of our nation .
(4) Prior to the coming of the invaders Persekutuan Tanah Melayu existed . It had the sovereign Sultanate of Malay kingdoms whose Governments representing their territories . It came with the order of hierarchy governing with stipulated  laws and principles
(5) It developed the social ,economic ,cultural orders with strong and institutionalized fundamental values of Islam . Above all , the Malays norms practicing in the customary laws strengthen the ‘right ‘ that the Malays and the Bumiputra are the ‘Tuan’ of their Tanah Melayu . Unfortunately , the slogan is understood by some as ‘Tuan and servant’ relationship .
(6) We were invaded by the Dutch , the Portuguese than the East Indian Company , later British colonial masters for more than 500 hundred years . At the same time , the exodus of non Malays organized by the Colonial rulers arrived to stay for serving and feeding the Colonial industrial revolution .  They were not welcome .
(7) Our forefathers knew that the Malays should not be like the native Indians of America .The natives Indians were alienated by the white Americans Colonialists . As the result of the political and military power of the Whites  , the natives lost their territories and culture . Today the native Indians ended living in a small-arid constructed reservation land reserved by the White Government. Engaging that , the Malay’s importance prevails in the articles 152 and 153 signature the Malay position . Besides the ‘ right’ of others are rightly respected and guarded due to our tolerance and acceptance
(8) Denouncing ‘ ketuanan Melayu ‘ is no crime and politicizing it , is a human crime to the Bangsa Melayu and its existence throughout the evolution of our Malay history and good values of Islam .
(9) We should not be apologetic in propagating the slogan of  Ketuanan Melayu nor it is taken as the sign of Malay weaknesses . We must prescribe the notion and the sprit of ‘ Ketuanan Melayu ‘ for us to move forward for the order of change and achieving progress with dignity in all arenas . We have a CAUSE and our CAUSE is justified because it is our Tanah Melayu .
(10) With this justifiable CAUSE and in upholding the sprit of ‘ Ketuanan Melayu ‘ with sincerity and its fundamental nature of Malays’ tolerance and acceptance , Ketuanan Melayu has served as one of the major principles of Malaysia democracy in a multi cultural ecosystem . It is in the Nation track record and without denial has brought peace harmony and prosperity to our Nation .

With peace in mind  , may Allah SWT bless us all .

Former long time Penang Chief Minister and Gerakan founder Tun Lim Ching Eu has departed. He was 91.

Former Penang Chief Minister Chong Eu dies

By CHRISTINA CHIN

GEORGE TOWN: Tun Dr Lim Chong Eu, 91, who served as Penang Chief Minister for 21 years, died on Wednesday.

He leaves behind his wife, two sons and two daughters.

He was admitted to Penang Hospital on Oct 26 after he suffered a stroke but, when his condition worsened Wednesday, he was allowed to go to his home in Hillside, Taman Bungah, where he passed away at about 9pm.

The Gerakan founder was a towering leader who presided over Penang’s remarkable economic transformation but led a simple life throughout his political career spanning 39 years, shunning awards and titles.

He only accepted a Tunship after retiring from politics.

When he took over as Penang’s second chief minister in May 1969, the state was going through a difficult period after the withdrawal of the state’s free port status. Unemployment had shot up to 16.4%.

Dr Lim went overseas to attract investments that would provide jobs and managed to build one of the largest electronics manufacturing bases in Asia, earning the island the tag Silicon Valley of the East.

He came up with the “Free Trade Zone” concept to enable Penang to develop an industrial sector – a concept new to the country then.

Aside from courting western companies, he oversaw the transformation of Batu Ferringhi into a tourist destination and cleared pre-war houses to build the 65-storey Komtar, which was then Southeast Asia’s tallest building.

He also built the Penang Bridge.

Born in Penang, Dr Lim attended Penang Free School. In 1937, he was a King’s scholar at the Edinburgh University in Scotland and graduated in 1944 with a medical degree.

Formerly a medical officer with the Chinese Armed Forces, he founded the Radical Party in 1951 that won the first municipal council elections in George Town.

In 1954, he joined the MCA and was a member of the Razak Commission for Education.

He defeated the late Tun Tan Cheng Lock for the MCA presidency in 1958 but quit the party a year later following differences with Umno over the allocation of parliamentary seats in the 1959 general election.

He formed the United Democratic Party in 1962 and co-founded Gerakan in 1968.

The party swept the Alliance ruling coalition out of Penang in the 1969 general election and Dr Lim was appointed chief minister.

However, in 1973, Gerakan joined the Alliance Party to form a coalition called Barisan Nasional.

In 1980, Dr Lim stepped down as party president saying there were “many young and promising leaders in the party who are just as capable of holding the post”.

He was succeeded by (Tun) Dr Lim Keng Yaik in 1980.

He continued as chief minister but lost the Padang Kota state seat in the 1990 general election and then retired.

After retiring from politics, he stayed away from Gerakan affairs and kept mum, even when the party went through trials and tribulations.

He retired a humble man without a whiff of corruption.

After retiring, he became a passionate horse breeder and turned his attention to business, as chairman and adviser to several large corporations.

He also refused to publicly comment on the country’s political development when approached by newsmen.

In 2007, he was named founding chancellor of Wawasan Open University in Penang.

Penangites will not forget Dr Lim’s legacy.

************

Lim was the leader of Gerakan when the bloody racial riot of 13 May 1969 occured. However when order was restored after NOC, Federal Government under Tun Abdul Razak Hussein initiated a national level consultative council to resolve the issues how and why the 13 May racial riot happened. Lim brought Gerakan into the forum where New Economic Policy was born in 1971 as an affirmative action to address the socio-economoc disparity between the urbanites and under developed rural folks. In 1973, Lim brought Gerakan to join the Alliance Party spin off Barisan Nasional coalition government.

Upon his retirement from Penang Chief Ministership in 1990, he was invested with the Darjah Seri Setia Mahkota Negara (SSM) which carried the title ‘Tun’. He is the first Non Malay Penangite to be invested the award.

MACC report made mentioning Dino Rais

It was made to understand an MACC report was lodged against Desmond Looh and Magic Telecom Sdn. Bhd. in the process of Numix Engineering Sdn. Bhd. acquiring 700MHz CDMA license from MCMC. Sources said the report was lodge by Numix Engineering Director Abdul Razak Mohd. Noor in MACC HQ Putrajaya.

It was said that the name ‘Dino b. Rais’ was mentioned in the report.

It was believed that stated somewhere in the report, monies were paid to Magic Telecom Sdn. Bhd. which include a sum not really specified and Desmond Looh, who had been alleged to be very close to Dino. Dino is the son of Minister of Information, Communications and Culture Dato’ Seri Utama Dr. Rais Yatim, Ph.D.

A different source explained that most probably Razak filed the report to protect himself since he was sued by Dino for defamation on a demand letter dated 2 November 2010, the same day the latter sued The Malay Mail and The News Straits Times for the report “Dino’s Son in Telco Suit” appeared on the cover of the ‘Paper that cares’. It was about Razak, Aishah Harun, Numix Engineering Sdn. Bhd. filing an injunction against Desmond Looh, Magic Telecom Sdn. Bhd. and Sejahtera Saluran Sdn. Bhd. at the Kuala Lumpur High Court on 22 October 2010.

It was said in the report, Razak alleged that a former Kuwait Finance House senior officer knew “Desmond Looh was very close to Dato’ Seri Utama Dr. Rais Yatim and an old friend of Desmond Looh’s father” and Looh was taken in on the newly formed Magic Telecom Sdn. Bhd.on the premise that:

1. He had sound financial standing

2. He was close to Dato’ Seri Utama Dr. Rais Yatim and showed the sms exhanges between the both of them to substantiate the claim

3. The closeness will enable the acquisition of the said CDMA spectrum license and all the licenses related to the venture

4. Looh also made a representation that Dino Rais is “To be employed in Magic Telecoms for technical and corporate exposure”

A company named Retroline Sdn. Bhd. was formed for the purpose of payment made to Dino Rais and he shall use the pseudonym of “Rahim Razlan” to cover his identity whilst under the payroll of Magic Telecoms. A detailed of list cheques paid to Dino and dates was believed to be furnished in the report to MACC. Dino was also sent to Chengdu, China 12-16 April 2010.

This MACC report corroborated earlier articles in the blogs insinuating that Rais’s son was involved the acquisition of certain spectrum licenses issued by MCMC, first raised on 8 October 2010. Rocky Bru picked some of these postings into his “Santa Rais” article posted on 9 October 2010, of which Rais reacted by lodging a Police report against Datuk Ahirudin “Rocky” Attan on 12 October 2010. MCMC was very swift in their investigations where the Police was asked by MCMC to confiscate his Acer “Ferrari” Notebook and Streamyx modem from his Puchong home, just 24 hours after the Police report was lodged in IPD Dang Wangi.

This episode attracted mainstream and new media attention to a point that Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Mohd. Najib Tun Razak made a remark “Terkilan” to what has developed by Monday 18 October 2010. The ‘Pandora’s Box’ on MCMC was further opened when issues serrounding the authority and utilisation of USP Funds was raised even in Parliament.

It was raised in public domain that Rais as the complainant, instructed the MCMC IO to call the suspect in the investigation Datuk Ahirudin Attan and Yours Truly (as the prosecution witness if and when the case goes to court) “To meet up for tea”. It was also made to understand that MCMC IO only took the statement of the complainant about two weeks ago, which is a month after Datuk Ahirudin was interviewed and had his statement taken. This is also should be a specific subject for MACC to investigate.

For the record, mainstream media already reported that MACC has also initiated investigation on the utilisation of the USP Funds, particularly in the 123, 000 units issued in the Phase 1 of the  ‘1 Malaysia Netbook’ program under the National Broadband Initiative.

It gets more interesting on how a case which could go unnoticed as a dispute between Razak and Looh was actually able to be resolved privately without this much attention had Rais did not react against Rocky. We believe this could only go more ugly as Razak’s, Aishah’s and Numix Engineering’s case against Looh, Magic Telecom and Sejahtera Selalu goes on hearing on 3 Dec 2010. Hopefully, some of the materials to be presented in the hearing were included in the MACC report to fully facilitate the investigation.

As Sherlock Holmes would say at this point, “The game’s a foot”.

North Korea shells South Korea

At 230pm South Korean time, North Korean military forces started shelling South Korean border island of Yeonpyeong. 200 rounds were fired from long range artilery and so far 2 deaths were recorded and 15 other are injured.

South Korea warns North Korea it will ‘sternly retaliate’ to any further provocation

South Korea has warned North Korea it would “sternly retaliate” to any further provocations after dozens of shells were fired at a South Korean island.

By Peter Foster, Beijing 9:41AM GMT 23 Nov 2010

Two South Korean marines were killed and 17 others injured, as well as three civilians, after North Korea fired dozens of artillery shells onto a Yeonpyeong Island in the Yellow sea, 50 miles off the South’s northwest coast in an area close to a disputed sea border.

The attack, which comes days after it emerged that North Korea was pressing ahead with its illegal nuclear programme, marks a serious further escalation of tensions on the Korean Peninsula.

A presidential statement said the shelling “constitutes a clear armed provocation.”

******************

There is a population of 1,200 on that border island and exist a South Korean military installation.

These are the photos received via e mail from South Korea:

This latest skirmish is believed to be a reaction against the series of military exercises organised jointly by South Korea and United States, which is actually a reaction from the sinking of South Korean offshore patrol vessel Cheonan on 26 March 2010, whilst patrolling on the South Korean side of the Yellow Sea.

Few days ago, it was revealed that North Korea is actively re-enriching the uranium plant in Yongbyon. South Korea and its allies which include the United States and Japan were fast to react, which include diplomatic threats.

The Guardian:

South Korea considers return of US tactical nuclear weapons

Defence minister hints at deploying US weapons on his country’s soil for first time since 1991 after news of North Korean plant

North Korea's Yongbyon nuclear facility
A 4 November satellite image shows the site of North Korea’s Yongbyon nuclear facility. Photograph: Digitalglobe/Getty ImagesSouth Korea‘s defence minister today raised the possibility that USnuclear weapons could be deployed in his country for the first time in nearly 20 years, after it was revealed that Pyongyang had built an advanced uranium enrichment plant.
Kim Tae-young was speaking to a parliamentary committee about theNorth Korea plant, when he was asked whether the government would consider the return of US tactical weapons for the first time since they were withdrawn by President George Bush Sr in 1991.
He replied that the matter would be “reviewed” by a joint US-Korean committee on deterrence set up last month. His remarks drew attention as the issue has been treated as taboo in the highly-charged atmosphere of the Korean peninsular.
Korean government officials were anxious to play down the significance of his comments, and insisted the taboo remained in place. A Korean defence ministry statement said the redeployment of nuclear weapons had not so far been raised. The Pentagon said there were no immediate plans to redeploy nuclear weapons in South Korea.
The US envoy on Korea, Stephen Bosworth, who was in Seoul for talks on the deteriorating situation, also said that talks were still possible, despite the discovery of the plant, which was shown to an American nuclear scientist by the North Koreans earlier this month.
“This is not a crisis, we are not surprised,” Bosworth said, on the first leg of an east Asia tour. Asked whether six-nation talks on North Korea’s nuclear programmes could be salvaged, he said: “My crystal ball is foggy but I would never declare any process dead. We have hope that we will be able to resuscitate [them].”
Even before the visit of Siegfried Hecker, the former chief of the US nuclear weapons laboratory at Los Alamos, to the North Korea enrichment plant, the US and South Korea had insisted that the regime would have to cease other nuclear activities and apologise for thesinking of a South Korean warship before the stalled six-party negotiations could resume.
Hecker said the enrichment plant at Yongbyon, near Pyongyang, had up to 2,000 centrifuges and was surprisingly modern. He said it appeared to be designed for the production of low enriched nuclear fuel for power stations, but acknowledged it could easily be reconfigured to make highly enriched uranium for nuclear weapons
***************

It is not known how the attack is resulted directly from the Cheonan and new developments at Yongbyon. However, creating a military tension is never good even for Malaysia which is over 3,500 miles away. The South Korean President is slated to come to Kuala Lumpur for his inaugural visit in two and half weeks time. It should be a boon to bi-lateral relations and business.

If this military tension persist, then the visit might not happen soon.

When will KJ answer?

The most notorious son-in-law and father-in-law in Malaysian political history

Rembau MP YB Tuan Haji Khairy Jamaluddin has yet to answer several questions:

What does Khairy do for a living?

Is he a businessman, business owner, business developer, “mister fixer” or plain commission agent?

If he is any of these, what business is he involved?

Can he be transparent about it?

Seriously, these are pertinent questions that Khairy needs to answer. Record shows that he and rogue media personality Kalimullah “Riong Kali” Hassan were substantial shareholders of stock-broking firm ECM Libra in late 2005, which acquisition of a  much larger public listed firm Avenue Capital Resource Bhd. in mid 2006 deemed a highly controversial deal. Neither of them had any experience what so ever in banking, investment banking and/or corporate experience to not only sit as executives of firms with huge asset which include cash and other liquid forms but also significantly played the role for ECM Libra-Avenue (then it was called) to get a full universal stock broking license from SC.

Then it was announced sometime in August the same year Khairy and Riong Kali relinquished their holdings. A few months later, Riong Kali went back into ECM Libra. It is a strong suspicion that Khairy had some degree of stake holdings with the re-entry of Riong Kali back into the new investment bank that the former helped to create from once down trodden Bumiputera Securities Sdn. Bhd.

If this photo is genuine, then it is a lifestyle no longer acceptable especially for a Ketua Pemuda UMNO Malaysia

Imagine the opportunities that arisen from this, even though he was playing the role of an ‘invisible partner’. Not only he has the advantage of being ‘stealth’, the ‘world of businesses derviced from GLCs’ with his influence on father-in-law PM ‘Flip-Flop’ Dato’ Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi and the notorious ‘Level Four Boys’ is immensely lucrative. For the record, PM ‘Flip-Flop’ remarried shortly after Riong Kali’s re-entry into ECM Libra-Avenue.

Lets say we took that at face value then. Khairy did sell out. What did Khairy do with the proceed of the sale?

Did he put it an income yielding deposits or investments?

Did he roll that into another business?

If so, what is the new business?

Being “An employed man” at the raw age of 30, Khairy certainly had and still having a good life and somewhat luxurious lifestyle. He resides in one of the most wealthiest neighbourhood in West Kuala Lumpur where raw land could easily fetch a value of RM 400.00 psf.  He staged a team back in 2006 to challenge the national team in soccer. (It was heart wrenching to see Malaysians cheer MyTeam and  boo-ing the national team wearing the Jalur Gemilang in the Stadium Nasional, in a game sanctioned by the Federal Government via Ministry of Youth and Sports and attended by the Prime Minister).

KJ appearing in a gay-centric fashion magazine cover. What a suspicious feat which could be reflective of a bizarre lifestyle

His lifestyle does not reflect his limited work experience. He had a short stint with The Economists before he joined then PM ‘Flip-Flop’ Dato’ Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi as Special Functions Officer when the latter was appointed Minister of Home Affairs in late 1999. Soon after the thumping success of 11GE April 2004, Khairy was alleviated to the newly created post of Deputy Chief of Staff in the Prime Minister’s Private Office. After loads of complaints of him and his meddling into executive affairs (even by PM ‘Flip-Flop’ Abdullah’s staunchest long time supporters), he left office in 2005 to be an “Investment Banker”.

Then he went seriously into mainstream politics. He contested as a BN candidate for Rembau Parliamentary seat in the 12 GE and later vied for the post of UMNO Youth Head in the party elections later in the same year. That must be a really expensive proposition to venture. Despite getting the lowest nominations derived at grassroot Division level during the preliminaries against two other candidates, Khairy turned out as the victor gaining 304 votes of the 800 odd casted at the UMNO Youth delegates balloting on 25 March 2009.

The most controversial win in UMNO Youth Head contest history

Considering that he was reprimanded by the UMNO Disciplinary Board but was not sentenced to any punishment, his ascension to the UMNO Youth Head (an UMNO Vice President level) did not come easy. When he was first presented during the UMNO General Assembly the next day, the majority of the delegates boo-ed him as if he was spurned away like a rabid dog.

He possibly cannot maintain his current lifestyle with his RM 6,500.00 pay (called allowance) as an MP. He could probably claim an equal amount for communications, transportation and accommodation. Does Khairy have a minder or minders?

Malaysians especially UMNO members must know who this minder or minders are. Are they Malaysians? Are they Malays? Or are they persons who are acting on behalf of ‘outside forces’. What sort of influence being exerted into Khairy’s call and political maneuvers. Especially when he consorts with tainted personalities like Riong Kali, who is a known ‘Singaporean Stooge’.

UMNO must not only have clean leaders, they must also be perceived to be clean. Khairy already have had attracted too much of negative attention towards UMNO/BN. Khairy is the single next most frequent name mentioned at large and sundry whenever how and why BN  in record breaking lost 5 + 1 states and 2/3 majority of the Dewan Rakyat on 28 March 2008.

Its time for these questions to be answered in the open, which include his relationship and involvement in AirAsia and all Dato’ Seri Tony Fernandes’s businesses. AirAsia is a Malaysian domicile and managed airline listed in Bursa Malaysia which is actually 53% foreign owned and in the past been countless bane for the national carrier Malaysia Airlines. It started with the ‘Airline Rationalisation Plan’ in mid 2006 where PM ‘Flip-Flop’ Abdullah upon the ‘advice’ of ‘Level Four Boys’ hived off almost all domestic routes (except for 19) which include the highly subsidised Rural Air Service away to the carrier which tried so hard to be a ‘national carrier’ status.

We have asked these questions before.  Last December we announced here in BigDogDotCom “The game’s afoot”. We have never laid down arms against Khairy’s further ascension onto power.

For UMNO’s survival, everyone must know who Khairy really is and what he is made of. UMNO could and should no longer afford to nurture another Anwar “Mat King Leather” Ibrahim. In many ways, Khairy’s meteoric progression and ability to ‘pander to the gallery’ within UMNO is almost following the footprints of former-abuse-0f-power-c0nvict Anwar. Both were equally ambitious, manipulative and have the tendency to be inconsistent, even on issues about the Malays.

The depiction of a "BN Samseng" is a visual most common used to describe Khairy

Inadvertently, for all these unanswered suspicions about YB Tuan Haji Khairy Jamaluddin MP clearly demonstrate that he does not belong in Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Mohd. Najib Tun Razak’s administration in any capacity despite he is the UMNO Youth Head and de facto BN Youth Head.

Zaid forming ‘New Party’?

A man of all colours

Last Friday Former PKR Chairman for Wilayah Persekutuan Dato’ Zaid Ibrahim announced that he quits the party. This preceeds the allegations of fraud and favourtism in the party elections, especially at Deputy President level where there is a three corner fight.

In the media statement, Zaid also announced that he would form a new party and continue the political struggle that

Zaid quits PKR, to form new party

2010/11/19

PETALING JAYA: Datuk Zaid Ibrahim has quit Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) and announced plans to form a new party to contest in the coming general elections.

Zaid said the resignation letter was submitted to PKR headquarters today, and takes effect on Dec 16.

Asked what is the significant of the date, Zaid, who was formerly PKR Federal Territory chief, laughed and said: “If he (PKR de facto leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim) likes September 16, then I like December 16”.
He said his new party would be issue-based, practise openness and championed for political transformation in the country.

The question now looms: What would Zaid’s new party be called? Parti Baru (New Party)? Why not? We think its fashionable that Zaid names his new party, ‘The New Party’. Or he could make a political statement with something like Parti Entiti Kearah Anti  KeAdilan or PEKAK in short. Perhaps even Parti KeAdilan Uniti also known as PAKAU. KeAdilan Uniti Dilemma Antarabangsa (KUDA)? Or Zaid would want to use Anwar “Mat King Leather” Ibrahim’s delay tactics of the current sodomy trial under the principle of “Delayed justice is denied justice” as a motive for his new political venture, Justice Denied or JD in short. If Zaid feels that his political predicament needed vindication, then it might be Parti KeAdilan For Zaid of PKFZ for short. Of course, there is also a suggestion it should be called Zaid Ibrahim Party (ZIP).

ZIP-it!

The speculation and permutation is endless.

Probably Zaid might cut a deal with a vast array of ‘mosquito parties’ already in existence and do a reverse take-over, where he can gain a new party within a few weeks. There are so many persons were issued approval by the Registrar of Societies to form and operate a political parties but never got around to do so. Money and support is always the viscious cycle these parties could never over come.

For Zaid to form an entirely newly registered political party would probably take him 18 months or so. Zaid can’t wait that long. He must be involved in the mainstream politics almost immediately and he needs a platform for it. For the record, Zaid Ibrahim must be the most colourful politcian this electoral term. He was discluded by BN at the PRU XII March 2008 elections as a candidate, appointed Senator and made a Cabinet Minister for a mere 8 months, thrown out of UMNO for appearing at a PKR annual meeting, appointed into PKR Supreme Council and mid term made the PKR candidate for PRK P094 Hulu Selangor and now created the most talked about controversy in PKR internal elections history.

So lets see how this thingy with Zaid will evolve and develop. It is rather an interesting watch.

Berapa ramai lagi masih ditipu Mat King Leather?

Semoga Allah menyelamatkan Malaysia. Benar, ini juga jihad kita.

Saya ingin berkongsi pengalaman peribadi.

Saya mula memerhatikan perkembangan Anwar.

How come RTM is working with YTL on 4G?

YTL Communications Sdn. Bhd. is set to be launching their ‘Yes’ 4G connectivity today. Bullish about giving connectivity to Malaysians at lower cost and ‘run for their money ‘against existing competitors.

The Star reports:

Lower prices for Internet services?

By LEONG HUNG YEE
hungyee@thestar.com.my

PETALING JAYA: Competition in the mobile and Internet business is expected to heat up with the entry of YTL Communications Sdn Bhd’s Yes service, and some analysts believe that a price war may erupt.

There’s a potential (for a price war). With YTL coming into the market, the probability is higher, CLSA Securities Malaysia Sdn Bhd head of research Clare Chin said.

She said the new entrant would also raise competitiveness among telecommunications companies while broadband operators would be worried about their margins.

Expectations surrounding the launch of Yes sent shares in YTL Comms’ parent company, YTL Power International Bhd, to their highest level in almost three years in early trade yesterday. The counter ended eight sen, or 3.19%, to RM2.59 but off the intra-day high of RM2.64.

An analyst said the new entrant did not bring in competition automatically. He said telcos would up the ante against each other to woo customers in a saturated market and that was where the competition or price war would kick in.

In crowded markets where penetration (of voice) exceeds 100%, it can be difficult for an operator to distinguish itself from its competitors if it can only offer the same services.

To differentiate, it needs to be able to offer something new and different with better value proposition, the analyst said.

While competition is good for the consumer, it is not so for the local telcos which have spent the last few years battling each other in a price war, where consumers ultimately reaped the benefits in terms of low mobile call and SMS rates.

Every player’s nightmare would be a price war, as margins would be pushed lower, hurting revenue, an analyst said.

YTL Comms’ Yes 4G wireless broadband service would charge customers nine sen for a minute of call, one SMS or 3MB of data.

And that’s before our rebates kick in, YTL Comms said in a teaser yesterday.

According to analysts, at nine sen a minute the service could be the cheapest in the market. However, they prefer to await confirmation from YTL on the price.

Sources said YTL would also be throwing in a rebate as high as 30% for its subscribers.

The more you use, the more rebate you’ll get. For example, if you hit a threshold of 3GB, the price will drop and if you hit another threshold at 5GB, the price will continue to drop, the source said.

A simple calculation shows that nine sen per 3MB works out to about RM90 for 3GB, giving users roughly about 2,000 emails.

CLSA Securities’ Chin did not discount consumers migrating to the latest network since cellular voice had already reached saturation.

She said consumers may want to choose a service provider that could offer them a better value proposition.

Investors are getting too excited, too early, Chin said, adding that today’s event was just a launch and the hybrid TV would only be launched by end-2011.

Analysts said the triple play, which offers television, Internet and telephone in a single connection, would be the next wave that could change the traditional consumption pattern among Malaysian users of telecommunications services.

Apart from coming up with new products and services to steal customers from rivals, they would also have to entice their existing customers to spend more.

Yes is expected to cover up to 65% of the peninsula from day one. The other areas would be covered later.

The company has spent some RM2.5bil for the Yes 4G infrastructure.

The 4G network will be SIM-less with the 018 prefix.

In a report, OSK Research said that YTL Comms would need to capture at least 300,000 subscribers based on the assumption of average revenue per user of RM100 a month, given the steep initial investment outlay and operating expenditure.

Although the prices of WiMAX equipment and devices have fallen by over a third in the last two years, we believe YTL Comms would probably have to provide a steep upfront subsidy to lure subscribers given the stiff market competition as well as high mobile penetration rate, it said.

YTL Comms is also launching its flagship store at Lot 10 in Kuala Lumpur today after the official launch of the new service.

YTL is a new-kid-on-the-block for either telco or ISP business. This launch was carefully planned in the same week that YTL Communications signed MOU for the content of the soon to be launched hybrid TV with RTM and Media Prima. On Monday, YTL Communications signed up an MOU with RTM and Prime Works to provide content for their hybrid TV.

YTL to secure content from RTM, Media Prima

The content is for YTL Communications’ Internet television services that are due to be launched at the end of 2011

YTL Communications Sdn Bhd plans to partner RTM and Media Prima Bhd to secure content for its Internet television services that are due to be launched at the end of 2011.

The new partnerships may also jointly create new productions and bid for more interesting content.

YTL Comms, which is gearing to launch its fourth-generation mobile Internet service on November 19, will combine its new wireless broadband with the terrestrial digital broadcast television system platform to provide its new hybrid TV service.

It claims to be able to combine traditional TV, on-demand movies and Internet content for delivery to all screens – be it a mobile, a personal computer or a TV set.

The company inked a memorandum of understanding with RTM and Primeworks Studio of the Media Prima Group yesterday.

The agreements would effectively make Malaysian content available to the region and “propel Malaysia towards becoming a regional, digital broadcast hub”, said Tan Sri Francis Yeoh, executive chairman of YTL Comms.

At the signing ceremony, Primeworks was represented by director Datuk Amrin Awaluddin, also the group managing director of Media Prima Bhd, while RTM was represented by its director-general Datuk Ibrahim Yahaya.

“The collaboration will complement our existing reach, enabling us to maintain our distribution and market share. It will also create opportunities for new distribution channels for Media Prima’s TV networks and content,” said Amrin.

Together with YTL, he said Media Prima intends to make Malaysia the regional hub for digital media and content.

“I’m confident this will generate new revenue streams for us as we continue to establish our position as the country’s premier content provider,” Amrin added.

Primeworks is Media Prima’s content creation arm and Malaysia’s largest production company. It generates over 5,000 hours of TV content and about 10 movies annually.

RTM is a state-owned public broadcaster, which runs various radio channels and two free-to-air TV channels.

As of 2007, Media Prima controlled about 54 per cent of the TV viewing market in Malaysia, followed by Astro 29 per cent and RTM 17 per cent.

It was said that YTL Power Bhd. via YTL Communications is ready to invest RM 2.5 billion for all these. Skeptics and critics are already getting their working hat on. Will YTL Communications be able to compete against existing and entrenched providers for the new markets, more over at lower retail charge?

Economically, Telco and ISP business es have serious technological and capital barrier into entries by new firms. New firms must invest on systems, which include human capital to get it right as if and when launched, consumers expect the services would be up and running seamlessly.

Will RM 2.5 billion enough on infrastructure for such a bold and ambitious project?

If it is not enough, then how much is? Where will the investment be realised from? How about the content?

Just for comparison, Telekom Malaysia is expected to ask RM 1 billion in new media content for 2011-2013.  This is considering that the infrastructure spending is separate budget.

Skeptics fear that YTL Communications be applying into the MCMC USP Funds for this purpose. Rumours already surfaced that ‘Yes’ claimed access to 300,000 IPTA/S students but actual subscription is unable to be determined at this point of time nor projection of the take-up rate. It was said that MOE’s studentnet is also a target for take over for complementary purpose to this exercise as a whole. Ability to capture the market is essential for any form of grants to be awarded for what ever reasons.

If any of these were true, then it would give enough excuse to warrant dipping into the lucrative USP Funds, readily available to develop the industry.

MCMC has already been under a lot of new and media scrutiny lately that even MPs are raising issues on how, where, when and how much of the RM four-plus billion coffer is spent on and how much is left.

The other important question, how come RTM and Media Prima is working with YTL Communications on this instead of existing players such as Telekoms Malaysia, Celcom and/or Maxis. It can’t be helped if the suspicion is about the USP Funds since RTM is an agency under the same Ministry of Information, Communications and Culture (KPKK) which Malaysia Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) is answerable to. MCMC is the custodian of the USP Funds, collected from 6% of derived profits from licensed telcos and ISP firms.

These are the sort of speculations that KPKK and MCMC could no longer afford to bear.

After all, TM and Celcom are GLCs under Khazanah Holdings Bhd. RTM and Media Prima Group should look within the GLC providers first since they are the custodian of the rakyat’s fund. So is MCMC.
