Pembangkang nak buat laporan Polis atas Zaini Hassan?

Di Singapura, menurut buku Men in White: The Untold Story Of Singapore’s Ruling Political Party, halaman 277: Murid-murid sekolah berarak meraikan Hari Harmoni Kaum (Racial Harmony Day) setiap 21 Julai bagi memperingati insiden rusuhan berdarah kaum pada 21 Julai 1964 yang mengorbankan 36 nyawa dan mencederakan 556 orang.

Laporan The Malaysian Insider:

Utusan ‘May 13’ piece could spark unrest, says Pakatan

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 10 — Utusan Malaysia’s editorial describing the May 13, 1969 riots as a “blessing in disguise” could set off another wave of racial riots in the country, said Pakatan Rakyat (PR) lawmakers today.Labelling the article as “seditious”, several PR MPs are also considering lodging police reports against the Umno-owned daily.

The Utusan Malaysia editorial today described the May 13 racial clash as a sacred day for Malaysia and warned DAP to recognise its significance.

“Utusan Malaysia, which is a racist mouthpiece for Umno, has put in a framework to put some sort of meaning and interpretation to May 13. I would like to remind Utusan Malaysia that May 13 was paid in blood, and as much as there was Malay blood there was also Chinese and Indian blood being spread over those many days of chaos,” said DAP MP Jeff Ooi.

Ooi also questioned the juxtaposition of the Utusan Malaysia piece today with the Malay daily’s assertion of non-Malay dominance in the Malaysian economy currently.

“Are they then setting a stage, staging a second round of May 13? This is very seditious, very provocative,” he said.

Today, the newspaper’s deputy editor-in-chief Datuk Zaini Hassan wrote in his weekly column that the riots were a blessing in disguise, otherwise “wealthy businesses and the professional classes would be controlled by one race only.”

Ooi said Utusan should not insinuate that it took “bloody racial fights” to justify the introduction and implementation of pro-Bumiputera policies like the New Economic Policy (NEP).

“I disagree strongly with what Utusan is saying.  In order to justify the existence of NEP it took bloodshed? I am very upset that we should now perhaps be prepared for another round of May 13,” Ooi told The Malaysian Insider.

In the Utusan article, Zaini claimed that the PR Penang state government had acted unjustly against state Opposition Leader Datuk Azhar Ibrahim, suspending him from the state assembly for citing the May 13 incident in his speech.

Early this month, Azhar was suspended for six months from the state assembly after he refused to retract allegedly seditious remarks made at an assembly sitting earlier this year.

Azhar, who is Penaga assemblyman, was accused of uttering apparently seditious words and issuing May 13 threats during a speech in the assembly by Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng on May 7.

He had warned of May 13-style racial riots and suggested the army take over the functions of the police if the latter had lost the confidence of the people.

The Umno man was referred to the assembly’s Rights and Privileges Committee after a motion tabled by Jagdeep Singh Deo (DAP-Datuk Keramat).

Zaini had also called for the May 13 incident to be incorporated into History lessons for students.

In response, Ooi said that the teaching of history should not be “politicised” and “fabricated” for the benefit of Barisan Nasional (BN).

“Are we now going to teach our young to think that May 13 is a blessing? I detest this,” said Ooi.

Another DAP MP, Lim Lip Eng said that he was considering of lodging a police report against Utusan Malaysia over the contents of the editorial.

“I’m considering of lodging a police report against Utusan for sedition. This is seditious. Who would imagine Malaysia be ruled by Chinese, with or without May 13? To us the riots were a tragedy, it should not have happened. Logically thinking, look at the population, 60 percent is ruled by Malays, how the Chinese can rule the majority, this is nonsense,” the Segambut MP told The Malaysian Insider.

The May 13 riots that took place after the 1969 general election resulted in a declaration of a state of Emergency and the suspension of Parliament.

It remains the country’s bloodiest race clash with hundreds reportedly killed in rioting mainly between Malay and Chinese groups.

In the general election that year, the Umno-led Alliance lost its two-thirds majority in Parliament. It was later replaced by the Barisan Nasional (BN) coalition with many opposition parties joining the three original Alliance members of Umno, MCA and MIC.

Two years after the riots, the government introduced the New Economic Policy (NEP) to address the economic divisions that had been blamed for the clashes.

PAS lawmaker Khalid Samad echoed his DAP colleagues’ viewpoints, saying that only “extremists” would endorse the May 13 incident.

“Obviously we must acknowledge that May 13 was a tragic day in our history, and people who say that we must go through May 13 in order to solve problems are people who are extremist in nature, who believe in violence and who believe that might is right and [whoever] is strong can perpetuate their leadership through violence.

“From a totally different perspective, I believe that May 13 could and should have been avoided if the leaders of the country were sufficiently responsible and had addressed the problems of poverty irrespective of race,” Khalid told The Malaysian Insider.

*************

  1. Pelik juga… Kenapa nak buat laporan polis. Macam ni lah, dalam bulan ni aku nak cat kereta aku nak taruk no 13 May 69 kat bonet dan kat pintu. Buat macam no kereta racing tu… Ada orang nak buat laporan polis tak agak2. Aku dilahirkan pada 13May1969.

  2. UMNO tipu MELAYU ?

SO DAP, PKR, PAS TIPU SIAPA ?

    TIPU SEMUA RAKYAT MALYSIA !!!!!!??????????????

CLASS , SEBENARNYA KAMU YANG MENIPU dan tertipu.. CERMIN MUKA LU.??????

    cifutbabi

  3. Biggie,

What could you expect from DAP?

    Really!

Support ‘unity’? They are Chinese Chauvinists, for crying out loud! They thrive on the notion of “Being oppressed by the majority” whenever actions are taken against them.

    PKR?

Please lah! They are sinking & their Ketua Umum’s trial is simply going towards a highly possible conviction. Of course they want a circus stunt to do!

    NOTHING NEW!

In reprocity Zaini should make a Police report against DAP & Malaysian Insider, for going against the idea to promote ‘Unity’. They should be charged under Seditions Act for perversion against stability of the nation.

  4. Masih kesibukan lagi tapi perlu mengeluarkan pendapat berikut:

Akta Hasutan kata tindakan menghasut itu islah bila menyakitkan hati bangsa lain. Apa mengingatkan supaya jangan berlaku lagi 13 Mei menyakitkan hati sesiapa? Melainkan yang terasa bersalah atau “guilty conscious”.

Sebaliknya, DAP Tony Pua mencadangkan diskaun perumahan Bumiputera dipinda dan MCA Chua Soi Lek mahukan sasaran 30% ekuiti Bumiputera dihapuskan nyata menyakitkan hati Melayu. Mereka yang patut direpot poliskan.

    • ray, knock knock again? Sadly, this time it’s on empty barrel. 😛

Kalau undang-undang sivil sudah mencukupi, mengapa US pun ada ISA – detention without trial, diGuantanamo Bay? Apa Amerika pun suka pakai undang-uangang abad 17?

MatKreko mungkin fikir dia liberal.

Kalau pa and ma scholarship, tolong keluarkan buktinya.

Comprende? Boleh tangkap maksud?

Britain dan US ada Akta Hasutan ke? Cuba beri bukti, butiran lanjut. Susah cakap dengan anda ni bila anda beri 4-5 perkataan saja. Itu bukan hujah. Hint konon.

        Mengata dulang paku serpih!

      • Hullo matcrack

        Kami sedang menunggu …

      • MatKreko

Ngapa tak jawab ray diatas? Anda kata anda banyak baca. Berilah hujah hujah yang panjang lebar ngapa tak mahu Akta Hasutan. Kata Akta kuno, menekan dsbnya saja, budak pun boleh cakap.

Puak pembangkang selalu cakap gitu. Kata orang empty barrel pulak. Jepun kata, muzakashi da nah, aru mondai yo. Tapi saya ngaku tak pandai bahasa Jepun, tahu sepatah dua nak impress saja. Bukan nak “menekan”!

  7. Mestilah DAP menentang!!! Memalukan !

  8. Sorry, we are now in self-destruct mode.

    • Kenapa nak siasat mereka? terus tahan bahawa ISA dan habis cerita. Siapa berani menentang, tangkap saja, tak payah cakap banyak!

      • Dearest Matcrack, this is for your educational upgrade …

The Sedition Act in Malaysia is a law prohibiting discourse deemed as seditious. The act was originally enacted by the colonial authorities of British Malaya in 1948. The act criminalises speech with “seditious tendency”, including that which would “bring into hatred or contempt or to excite disaffection against” the government or engender “feelings of ill-will and hostility between different races”.

The latter provision includes the questioning of certain portions of the Constitution of Malaysia, namely those pertaining to the Malaysian social contract, such as Article 153, which deals with special rights for the bumiputra (Malays and other indigenous peoples, who comprise over half the Malaysian population).

Under section 3(1), those acts defined as having a seditious tendency are acts with a tendency:

        (a) to bring into hatred or contempt or to excite disaffection against any Ruler or against any Government;

        (b) to excite the subjects of the Ruler or the inhabitants of any territory governed by any government to attempt to procure in the territory of the Ruler or governed by the Government, the alteration, otherwise than by lawful means, of any matter as by law established;

        (c) to bring into hatred or contempt or to excite disaffection against the administration of justice in Malaysia or in any State;

        (d) to raise discontent or disaffection amongst the subjects of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong or of the Ruler of any State or amongst the inhabitants of Malaysia or of any State;

        (e) to promote feelings of ill-will and hostility between different races or classes of the population of Malaysia; or

        (f) to question any matter, right, status, position, privilege, sovereignty or prerogative established or protected by the provisions of part III of the Federal constitution or Article 152, 153 or 181 of the Federal Constitution.

        —————————

See, based on these clauses, the DAP face obstacles in their bid to take over governance of Malaysia, without first abolishing the Sedition Act and the ISA.

They may have pinned their hopes on Mat King Leather to command Putrajaya, but I guess their costly investments appear to have failed.

Coupled with the opposition demos against the ISA, the quick-on-the-draw unsubstantiated accusation of MACC by lim guan eng, lim kit siang, karpal, gobind and gang; the incessant condemnation of PDRM, the perpetual finger-pointing at UNMO/BN etc, we can intellectually surmise that there is INDEED a political attempt to bring down the Malay-led government.

The opposition needs to firstly BRAINWASH anyone gullible enough to listen – that the ISA and the Sedition Act are outdated and therefore need to be abolished. Are you their agent?

Now listen up matcrack, which is more in dire need of abolishment – the ISA/Sedition Act or the vernacular schools (VS). Just take time to REFLECT – which is crucial to the formation of Bangsa Malaysia? VS is largely responsible for racial polarization which is anti-Bangsa Malaysia.

On the other hand, ISA/Sedition Act GUARDS against potentially destructive racial conflicts like the 13 May 69 fatal riots.

Can you see that the ISA/Sedition Act is an insurance plan against irresponsible elements within this potentially explosive multiracial society, inherent with the natural faultlines.

Freedom of speech MUST not include irresponsible instigation, racial agitation or conspirational discourse.
No one should clamour for unrest just for political mileage. Now those business tycoons will not want riots to halt their wealth accumulation. Just imagine May 69 recurring, agitated by these pseudo ‘freedom-loving’ champions, Malaysia will suffer socially, politically, economically and internationally.

So anyone who believes Malaysia is ready to have ISA/Sedition Act abolished, is playing with fire, one that has irreparable consequences – which must be avoided at all costs.

        Comprendre, matcrack??

      • ray,

It stare you right in the face, and yet you fail to address it. A law so vague, that even uttering words of discontent toward certain government decision can be translated as criminal intent.

And for you to digest, ‘any Government’ as stated in (a) means Federal as well as State Governments, and that include states under Pakatan such as Penang, Kedah, Selangor and Kelantan too. So, some of BD articles in this blog can be bound by this law as well – to which you MUST agree as you glorify this act so much. Catch-22? 😛

Other than the quoted facts, I wouldn’t bother to reply the incongruent and incoherent bumbling of a person who only see the world from one perspective.

      • Anyone understands what MatKreko is trying to say above?

What “stare you right in the face” is he talking about? What’s “so vague” about the Sedition Act? Who says that “even uttering words of discontent toward certain government decision can be translated as criminal intent” as far as the Sedition Act is concerned?

Come on la, MatKreko. ray took the trouble to explain at length up there. Surely you can’t expect to just say a few sentences and hope to get away with it? Let’s have a meaningful discourse la.

You don’t understand that the Police is under Federal jurisdiction, do you? And that State Governments don’t have jurisdiction over Police matters.

You don’t even state which of BD articles may be offensive under the Act. The intent, brader, the intent, the motive. I’m pretty sure BD never intends to be seditious. But, for example, DAP Tony Pua touching on the Bumi housing discount and MCA Chua Soi Lek asking the 30% Bumi equity target be abolished are definitely seditious as they, being in the community with vast wealth and control the economy of the country, intend to deprive the Malays of their right and privileges, thereby creating “ill will” to them. Even the reaction of Malays asking the citizenship right of those concerned be also abolished may be seditious.

“seeing the world from one perspective”, MatKreko? Because people don’t see from YOUR perspective? Mana ada logik, Mat – if you are really a Malay with that name. Often use the term Catch-22, do you? Have you caught any, MatKreko? For example, caught any of the points we put out here?

  11. Matcrack = It stare you right in the face, and yet you fail to address it. A law so vague, that even uttering words of discontent toward certain government decision can be translated as criminal intent.

Ray = What is staring right in my face, dearie? Poor matcrack, unduly worried over the ‘vague’ law. How can words of discontent be equated with criminal intent? Surely you have more faith in the legal profession.

Matcrack = And for you to digest, ‘any Government’ as stated in (a) means Federal as well as State Governments, and that include states under Pakatan such as Penang, Kedah, Selangor and Kelantan too. So, some of BD articles in this blog can be bound by this law as well – to which you MUST agree as you glorify this act so much. Catch-22?

Ray = Catch 22? More like catch NO ball! Are you saying that BD’s articles contain criminal intent?? Oh my goodness, how naïve and confused can matcrack be?

Matcrack = Other than the quoted facts, I wouldn’t bother to reply the incongruent and incoherent bumbling of a person who only see the world from one perspective.

Ray = What quoted facts? Whoa, such big words! ‘incongruent and incoherent bumbling’ – See here matcrack – all 3 words are adjectives, therefore your command of English is pathetically underprivileged. It should be 2 adjectives followed by a noun, for example ‘intellectual and impressive discourse’.

‘incongruent’ means unequal; ‘incoherent’ means confused and ‘bumbling’ means clumsy. So you are saying “unequal, confused and clumsy of a person”? No comprendre, matcrack. Better improve your command of the English Language.

    • Give MatKreko the tongkat for learning the English language. But not in schools with English as the medium of instruction. That he can do in Singapore or Englaaaaaand. Wonder ab his command of BM, btw.

But language is not the real problem. It’s his mind set. Wanting to criticise anything and everything that the Government does. Like DAP fellas. He probably is DAP. He doesn’t want the Sedition Act. Probably the ISA as well. And DAP resents the Special Position of the Malays and the Bumis of Sabah and Sarawak. Since the days Lee Kuan Yew started the so-called Malaysian Malaysia, subverting the Malay Special Position. Picked up by Lim Kit Siang when LKY and S’pore were kicked out of Malaysia in 1965.

Maybe he even thinks the history of this country starts from Merdeka. Even so, he does not seem to agree with the Constitution fully. Resents the fact that the sensitive Articles cannot be touched even with 2/3 majority in Parliament. Got to contend with the Sedition Act first to want to have them discussed in Parliament. That’s why he doesn’t want the Sedition Act. Outmoded, he said. Actually his thinking is outmoded. All loyal citizens with no ill intent have no problem with the Sedition Act.

He needs to know that in Fiji, where the Indians have become the majority of the population and won the general elections, they were not allowed to rule. The military grabbed power. In Malaysia, Dato Seri Najib has explained at length that the sensitive Articles of the Constitution cannot be amended even with 2/3 majority.

What man, MatKreko. Belajar Sejarahlah. You might be less knowledgeable than school children when History becomes a compulsory subject in 2013. Then you put out strange views. One more problem in the efforts to create long-term natonal unity in this country.

    • ray, I know of your shallow thinking being the reason you can’t comprehend certain things, but showing it on and on again is like ‘membuka pekung di dada’. And food for your thoughts: English can’t be mastered by looking few words in dictionary. 😛

I don’t worry about the ‘vague’ law, but I worry if that law is to fall into the wrong hand with authority.

Isa, so you inherited the “X” ray too. And a lesson for you… history is written by the victor, but what happened will remain as indisputable event/fact no matter how you interpret it.

Seeing how low this goes, I will sign-off for now, to the advice of this old saying ‘Arguing with a fool proves there are two’.

      • This MatKreko must be an anarchist. Non-conformist and anti-established order. He is dangerous to society and let’s hope there are not many like him.

Believing that history is written by the victor, there must be nothing in history that he accepts. This poor soul must find the world an unacceptable place. He always the vanquished here, there and everywhere. Pity him but we cannot condone his thinking. A weird way of thinking certainly. Nothing is right by him. A tortured soul.

But this Hari Raya Haji I wish him well. Hoping that he’ll see the light of day some day.

      • Matcrack declared, “history is written by the victor, but what happened will remain as indisputable event/fact no matter how you interpret it”

Is this the reason why, recent “historians” like Dr Kua Kia Soong wrote a book entitled “Declassified Documents on the Malaysian Riots of 1969″.

KKS seemed intent on a selfish political agenda. It was labelled as a “despicable act of rewriting our history to fit a certain ulterior motive. All the so-called facts presented in the books are “highly presumptuous, misguided and intended only to achieve a divisive propaganda” – Quoted from Jebat Must Die.

So homo sapiens like matcrack have been so brainwashed to think along a wired-up political track that he is closed to reasonable and factual discourse.

  12. […] far, only the Oppositions were adamant that Zaini’s call for ‘Unity Day’ was ‘seditious&#8…. Of course Malaysian Insider did their best to skew the thinking towards the Chinese Chauvinist […]

  13. Boring! I’d rather see Hari Minyak Turun Harga than some half-assed tub thumping about what May 13 means. I’m sure it’s all very fascinating to think about when one is sitting on the john with nothing to read, but in my humble opinion, folks are more concerned about how far they can stretch their ringgit than to rejoice at the prospect of May 13 being another national holiday. I think we already have more than our fair share of holidays. lower prices of gas and other neccessities would be far more appreciated.
