Turnout

40,000 were in Stadium Merdeka for ‘Swinging MILF Day’

Swinging MILF Day ‘is done. Nothing untowards happened. In fact, the media who attended says it was boring as Opposition Leaders especially Anwar Ibrahim was just repeating old and irrelevant cries. This is because the purpose for this ‘peaceful assembly’ is nothing more than dramatization to stay relevant, in the eyes of media attention.

Maximum capacity is 30,000 and yet there are sparse spots seen

Blogger Captain John F Seademon says 40,000 attended. Sounds about right. That is inclusive for idiots who brought their little ones, including toddlers and babies, to attend a political rally.

MP for Kota Belud Dato’ Abdul Rahman Dahlan commented (via his tweet):

1. It was a political gathering

2. ‘1 million’ was a hoax

3. Anwar’s speech was old stuff

4. Peaceful if no hand gestures

Then again, their own portals claim its double that amount. Let independent photos posted tell the real stories, like like this one.

UMNO got 100,000 members at Bukit Jalil Stadium in May

Now, compare that to when Prime Minister Dato’ Sri Mohd. Najib Tun Razak did his UMNO celebrations on 11 May 2012. 100,000 UMNO members converged in National Stadium in Bukit Jalil. This was driven by the spirit of nationalism.

Spirit of Nationalism

Bigger stadium, yet filled to the brim. More attendees. Today was much smaller stadium, yet there were sparse spots. More importantly, no Police intervention. Still, no numbers.

*Updated 2005hrs

Bulletin Utama reported only 45,000 attended. OCPD Dang Wangi ACP Zainuddin Awang also estimated the same number of attendees, during his media conference.

  1. There simply could not be 100,000. Agree with the Police estimates of 40,000 – 45,000. The stadium seating capacity of 30,000 not fully taken up, the field not fully occupied.

The photos show them all. And I believe they were taken when all the rally-ers have arrived.

It’s now clear why they stubbornly insisted on Stadium Merdeka. Because if they were to rally at Stadium Bukit Jalil, they would not have filled even half the stadium. Bigger shame then.

Calling for 1 million, their participants were SMs-ing all the time asking friends to join the rally when they were walking to the stadium, filling the air wave until a few blokes complained of difficulty getting messages thru due to congested air wave. Despite all those they got only 45,000. What a shame.

  2. A comment not on the turn out but on crowd behaviour. I like the New Straits Times writer’s words:

“There was no sleight of hands instructing supplicants to break police barriers, no overturned vehicles carjacked by humans resembling raging monkeys, no bloody altercations with police and, startlingly, no drama queen antics of feigned injuries. Not very Anwarish.”

Looks like PR has lost steam. 45,000 came when 1 million were expected. The PRU13 story is ended before it’s begun.

  3. 45 thousand minus 50% non voting students in which most are paid by Chegu Bart Simpson’s SMM.

He was announcing to ask Pemuda PAS for his shareof the nites collection at Kg Baru. There was sms alert togo tropicana for money.

That is only 27,000 voters. Wow . . .BN must be shivering🙂

  4. Fact of matter is, if BN is truly bad, like Egypt’s bad, even 2 million would attend and stayed for months. But that didn’t and won’t happened.

    • BN never bad. Very responsible party. Comprising of many races. Got weaknesses. Who doesn’t? Human beings what. Even PR 4 years all sorts of weaknesses. If 55 years, God knows how many tons.

Election every 4-5 years, where got like Egypt 30 years no elections, or Libya 40 years dictatorial rule by Muammar Ghadafi. So Anwarul Al Juburi’s hope all dashed by 112 rally turn out. Only 40,000.

No overflowing of stadium until Stadium Negara what. So how to say got 500,000 like the stupid Rais rally organizer told Malaysiakuno. He must be crazy to talk like that.

  5. Crowd estimation : around 45K

  6. Laaa banyak tu je orang? ingatkan Family Day syarikat Lee What Mee Sdn Bhd. tadi. Aiyahh so small one.

‘Anu’war days seems to be numbered.

p/s hearing less and less of PR battle cry especially after PRU12 in places like Mkini – “Come next GE”.

  7. Bro, How come Najib’s UMNO gathering I can bring my kids,
lots of kids around us that time… But Himpunan Rakyat I was not
allowed to bring my kids? Why double standards, bro?

    • The difference is very clear.

Supporters of PM Najib or BN NEVER PROVOKE the Police or cross Police line and/or barricades. Supporters of PM Najib or BN never charge towards the Police. Supporters of PM Najib or BN never threw anything against the Police. And most of all, Supporters of PM Najib or BN never destroyed a Police car.
