Agony of choices

Too many people face the agony of making the choice. However, it is not true for Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Mohd. Najib Tun Razak on who he would want to pick up the phone and ask for favours.

According to PKR Vice President N Surendran, Prime Minister Najib “Called Thai Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra”, so that rogue Thai Drama-Queen-cum-Funky-Pathologist Pornthip Rojanasunand ‘refuse to come over and ascertain the death of Sugumar.

In PKR leaders’ such as Surendran, PKR MP for Subang R. Sivarasa and Latheefa Koya, it must be Pornthip or no one else. Doesn’t matter if she has proven to ‘Flip-Flop’ in her own opinion how former aide to Selangor Exco Ean Yong Toeh Being Hock had died. They had to have the drama, to make the Police look bad again.

It was a nice solid slap to Surendran’s, Sivarasah’s and Koya’s face. Prime Minister Najib’s denial of any communication with Prime Minister Shinawatra in Ipoh last Friday was not heeded. As they dramatists as they are, they had to make the lie continue to be political. Now, Surendran and Koya accuse Prime Najib of lying.

Najib’s denial is a lie

PKR vice-president N Surendran and activist Latheefa Koya maintain their claim that the prime minister did stop Dr Pornthip Rojanasunand from coming here.

PETALING JAYA: PKR vice-president N Surendran and activist Latheefa Koya have reiterated that letters between the Thai Justice Ministry and renowned pathologist Dr Pornthip Rojanasunand proves that Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak lied when he told the media that the Malaysian government did not stop Pornthip from conducting a post-mortem here.

The two lawyers who are representing the family of the late Sugumar, the 40-year-old security guard who was handcuffed and allegedly beaten to death by the police, said the government had prevented Pornthip from performing a second autopsy on Sugumar, who is yet to be buried although he died some two weeks ago.

“Pornthip had said that Thailand’s Ministry of Justice had informed her that there was communication from the Malaysian government on their displeasure against her, especially in her role in the earlier case of Teoh Beng Hock.

“In diplomatic language, this is a clear message from the Malaysian government that Pornthip is not welcome in Malaysia for purposes of the second autopsy on Sugumar,” they said in a press statement in response to Najib’s denial.

Yesterday, Najib refuted allegations that he prevented Pornthip, who is also a director of the Central Institute of Forensic Science at the Ministry of Justice, Bangkok, Thailand, from conducting a second post-mortem on Sugumar.

“It is not true… these are all fairy tales. Don’t listen to it. Not at all,” Najib was quoted as saying.

Sugumar was detained and allegedly beaten to death by four police personnel and a group of mob in Hulu Langat on Jan 21. The following day, a post-mortem conducted in Serdang Hospital concluded that Sugumar died of a heart attack.

The findings were disputed by the family who wants a second post-mortem. Surendran has been requesting for the second post-mortem to be conducted by Pornthip.

Surendran and Latheefa also claimed that there is a letter from the Thai Justice Ministry to Pornthip that clearly stated that the Malaysian government was against her conducting a second post-mortem on Sugumar.

“Najib’s denial is further contradicted by the existence of a letter from the Thai Ministry of Justice to Pornthip stating in effect that the Malaysian government was against her conducting the second autopsy. That letter was dated Feb 14 and was a follow-up to communications on this subject between the Malaysian and the Thai governments.

Surendran and Latheefa urged Najib to “immediately lift all diplomatic and administrative obstacles against the pathologist”.

If it is true Prime Minister Najib did not call Prime Minister Shinawatra to stop Pornthip from coming to Malaysia, then this matter should be stopped. However it is interesting to ponder on the event that he did call her and ask Thai authorities to do the favour.

It made a lot of sense. The problem is addressed at the source. After all, Pornthip could just make her prognosis just from photos. We are almost sure that between Surendran, Sivariasah and Koya, they have enough photos in the right pixel and definition to send it over to Pornthip in any of their preferred medium, so that she could make another ‘Dramatized pathological opinion’ on Sugumar’s death.

For that matter, anyone found dead.

Insurance companies would probably then use the same technique and get Pornthip to make an opinion whether someone is ‘murdered or committed suicide’, just by her looking at high definition photos.

These companies might be based in Australia too.

Australian Prime Minister Julia Gillard

Never the less, Prime Minister Najib did not pick up the phone and call Australian Prime Minister Julia Gillard recently. At least not in the case of  Nick Xenophon. Immigration Department had to be open on why Xenophon was denied entry at the border and immediately send him back on the next available flight back to Melbourne.

Never before Federal Government agencies had to justify why an alien is denied entry and was turned back, as if the pleasure to come into the country is one’s right instead of privilege.

It is not rocket-science why Prime Minister Najib did not make the same choice with the legally-never-married Australian Prime Minister, as he did with the Thai Prime Minister. It was never an agony of choice. Apparently, it is a very common trait that Prime Minister Najib posses some degree of Pornthip’s ability with sight.

  1. What is all the fuss about? Why not just ask Rani Porn to come through Padang Besar, Bukit Kayu Hitam, Betong or Sungai Golok and hey presto problemo solven!
After all Rani Porn need only to have whiff of the corpse and da da I know who did it!
    Bodoh punya worang! cit..cit…

  2. This Xenophon fella has been considered persona-non-grata by the Immigration Dept based on a certain provision under the Immigration Act. This fella if he so respect rights and democracy he must also respect the rule of law of Malaysia. Australia Immigration has deported many unwanted arrivees too. So who gives a damn that this Xenophon continues to whine abt his deportation as it merely highlights his inability to respect Malaysia’s Immigration laws.

    • As for Dr.Porntip, she is a Thai civil servant. If she cannot come to Malaysia to perform the second autopsy, for whatever reason, then it should be respected. Since when Malaysia has the habit of dragging the civil servant of another country into a local issue? It defies all norms of international protocol and practice. Memalukan dan tindakan tidak matang dan tak bertanggung jawab. Puak2 ni semua bila nak belajar jadi dewasa?

  3. There seems to be no end to these blokes’ attempts at exploiting situations – making people cringe even in death. Last time it was Teoh Beng Hock, now this. What the blardi ……

It’s utter lack of responsibility to accuse even a sitting Prime Minister as lying. How low can they get. How stupid can they be, in fact. The PM has denied he did anything to prevent Pornthip from coming and here these blokes call it a lie. How dare they.

And the blokes did not even state the wording used in the “letter from the Thai Ministry of Justice to Pornthip”, merely “stating in effect that the Malaysian government was against her conducting the second autopsy.” What kind of lawyers are these fellows?

  4. What in Heaven’s name are these Aussies doing? Living up to their history of being originally made up of ex-convicts from Britain?

Don’t they know such things as sovereignty, territorial integrity and all those diplomatic jargon that govern relations between free and independent nations. Don’t they know that we are not beholden to them and don’t they realize that bringing the matter up to the Commonwealth Secretariat may get them told not to interfere in the affairs of a fellow member?

In short, don’t they, right to the Prime Minister, know to mind their own bloody business?

Good that their Foreign Minister had previously said no to Anwarul Al Juburi’s attempt to get official Australian observers to PRU13. But either the Foreign Minister didn’t brief the woman Prime Minister or she is itching for some brickbats from us for defending, instead of censoring, a bloke carrying the title of a Senator from her country, interfering in the internal affairs of Malaysia at Bersih 3.0 rally that he attended, and now trying to instigate Bersih organizers on Malaysian elections matters.

One has to expect the Xenophone bloke and his so-called delegation to be instigating – what else could it be? Damn the descendants of the ex-convicts.

  5. When Tun M was the PM he didnt give chance to tbe holier than thou attitude of Australia. He put things in perspective and put Australia in its proper place i.e to be more careful of how it regards Malaysia. Tun M’s tenure as PM was an era of non-grovelling to the west including Australia. It worked. The so called ‘white men’s burden’ in which the west and whites think they and only they are the final arbiter of individual rights and human rights are long gone. Rights must be put in perspective and context and ppl like Xenophone should start by respecting Malaysia as a sovereign state that has the rule of law. We certainly dont subscribe to Xenophone who thinks he can do his white men’s burden act on Malaysia. Stay home and deal with problems in Australia. There is where you belong.
