This in an opening move for all Kedahans to come together and show their unity, for the sake of betterment and progress. It is time for all elected representatives in Kedah, especially amongst PAS and PKR to put aside all their idealogical political stance.
The last five years saw an extremely intense amount of politicking, not only between PAS as the 9th Kedah State Government and BN but also within PAS itself and PAS’s distrusted relationship with their so-called ‘pack partner’ Chinese Chauvinist DAP.
Kedah economy was stagnant during the five year PAS rule. In fact, Kedah State Government’s debt slide downwards by RM 1 billion due to weak leadership and poor administration under then PAS Kedah Commissioner Dato’ Seri Azizan Abdul Razak.
This offer came as the infighting within PAS Kedah became more intense, even though they have lost power in the Malay heartland state.

ALOR STAR: Datuk Phahrolrazi Zawawi has resigned as Kedah Pas deputy commissioner I to pave the way for newly-appointed state party chief Datuk Mahfuz Omar to name his new team.
He said it was only right for him to do so since Mahfuz had been appointed as Kedah Pas commissioner to replace former Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Azizan Abdul Razak, who is now bedridden after he suffered serious infection to both his legs. His legs have also been amputated from the knee down.
“My post in Kedah Pas is an appointed one.
“I don’t belong to Mahfuz’s team and he has the prerogative to choose his deputy,” he told reporters when asked on Pas leadership’s decision to appoint Mahfuz as the new Kedah Pas commissioner.
Mahfuz, the only Pas member of parliament from Kedah after the party performed badly in the state in the just concluded general election, is also Pas vice-president.
Phahrolrazi, who had led a futile bid to overthrow Azizan as menteri besar in 2010, said he would hesitate to retain his post if asked by Mahfuz.
“I am still Kuala Kedah Pas division chairman and I will continue working for the party,” he said
Upon the retirement of Azizan as the 9th Menteri Besar due to losing control in the Kedah State Assembly at the 13GE, his position as PAS Kedah Commissioner went to PAS Vice President and Pokok Sena MP Dato’ Mahfuz Omar. It is clear that Mahfuz do not posses the majority support of PAS Kedah members.
Mukhriz’s progress and transformation driven BN Kedah manifesto taglines “Driving Kedah’s Transformation Together” actually provided a lot of opportunities for PAS’s elected representatives to play a role. During the last five years, PAS Kedah failed to provide a comprehensive plan like this.
The development of Islam is included as one of the specific agenda outlined.
It is now the prefect time for PAS Kedah leaders to attest their sincerity, for the sake of Kedahans. Their willingness to co-operate with Mukhriz’s new Kedah State Government will demonstrate their ability to be magnanimous.
Just like what God fearing Muslim leaders should be.
