Selangor Menteri Besar Tan Sri Abdul Khalid ‎Ibrahim today said the state sultan had consented to the sackings of the six PKR and DAP executive councillors.
“I wrote the letter (to the sultan) at 2pm yesterday after receiving news that the PKR and DAP exco had released a statement saying they will not support the MB,” Khalid told a press conference after chairing a meeting with the executive council (exco) members.

“The sultan gave a written reply to allow the MB to tell the exco they are no longer in service. The sultan replied me in two hours.”

Khalid said today he chaired a meeting with the remaining four PAS councillors, noting that the number was suffice according to article 53(2) b of the Selangor state law, which states that four people is sufficient to run the state government.
The menteri besar said the sacked exco members would be given ample time to clear out their offices.‎

‎DAP’s Datuk Teng Chang Kim, Yong Hian and V. Ganabathi Rao, as well as PKR’s Elizabeth Wong and Dr Daroyah Alwi today turned up for work as Selangor exco members at the state secretariat building, despite receiving their termination letters yesterday.

The exco members told a press conference last night that they deemed the sackings invalid as they felt it was impossible for Khalid to have obtained the sultan’s consent yesterday.

Teng also said that Khalid, who was an independent assemblyman since his expulsion from PKR Saturday, could not dismiss any Pakatan Rakyat (PR) member from the Selangor government as it was led by PR.

But Khalid ‎today refused to recognise Selangor as a PR-led state.

“We have the names DAP, PAS, PKR and Umno. So it is up to your interpretation,” he told reporters.

“But you must remember that PR is not a registered body.”

Khalid added that he and the four PAS exco members would now focus on running the government and protecting the people’s welfare.

“I welcome Umno’s support but for the time being, PAS and I will manage Selangor’s administration with the help of civil servants to ensure everything runs smoothly.”

Khalid was sacked last Saturday after he refused to resign as directed by his party, to pave the way for Kajang assemblyman and PKR president Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail to take over the MB’s post.

Khalid has also been facing mounting pressure from the PKR leadership to resign over his handling of Selangor affairs.

These include the state’s management of its water resources, the Kidex highway and seizure of Bahasa Malaysia and Iban-language Bibles by the Selangor Islamic Religious Department (Jais).

On Monday, Khalid said the sultan had consented for him to remain as MB as of now as he commanded the confidence of the majority. – August 13, 2014.

NST story:

Pas will never accept Wan Azizah as Selangor MB: Hadi

BY ADRIAN LAI – 13 AUGUST 2014 @ 3:36 PM

KUALA LUMPUR: Pas will never support PKR president Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail to become next Selangor menteri besar as she will only serve as her husband’s puppet, said party president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang.

In an interview with Pas newsletter Harakah today, Hadi said Dr Azizah’s decisions, should she assume the Selangor MB post, would be heavily influenced by her husband and PKR de facto leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

“Taking note of past events, Pas is afraid that every decision she makes will be influenced by Anwar. As a wife, she is duty-bound by Islam to be faithful to her husband.

“Because of this, her tenures as an elected representative (in Permatang Pauh and Kajang) have revealed many of her weaknesses,” Hadi was quoted by Harakah as saying.

Hadi was also quoted as saying that Dr Azizah was unfit to helm the Selangor government as she has no prior experience in running a state.

“The MB’s duties are very important; he has to act as Islamic adviser to the sultan of Selangor. This particular responsibility cannot be shouldered by a woman,” he told Harakah.

  1. Dzulman of Shah Alam lauds the firm stand taken by Dato Seri Hj Hadi Awang that PAS shall not accept a woman MB for Selangor and his explanation on one of the duties of an MB is to be with the Sultan on religious activities which a woman MB simply cannot fit in.
Unlike the PM he does not have to be along with the Agong on every of his official activities. But not as an MB he is required to be close to the Sultan as he is also an advisor to the Sultan.
Anwar does not have the finesse in dealing with royalties particularly the Sultan as he hailed from a non-Sultan state. It is very surprising that his close followers did not remind him of this special requirement of being an MB before naming his wife as the candidate. They are equally ignorant what a shame.
His supporters are also blind or half blind and is this the sort of people the Selongorian want to lead them?

  2. Sir, As I said before the duo, the very very rich PKR and lky’s aide would have been in Putrajaya long long ago if they took the following easy steps.

In 1997. if the DPM had taken a busman’s holiday and did not take the advice of his kitchen Cabinet (who are still strong with the BN), he would have returned as the Honourable Prime Minister of Malaysia. ONE EASY STEP.
In 2008, if the duo had sorted out the 32 seats BEFORE AND NOT AFTER the 12th General Elections, they would have won 2 General Elections by now. They forgot it would have cost them nothing since they would have controlled the Khazanah. ONE EASY STEP.
In 2013, if the duo announced a 100 day fast and boycotted the 13th General Elections, the BN would have won 100% of the seats with just 47% votes. They would have been in Putrajaya already for 15 months. SEE HOW THE THAIS DID IT. ONE EASY STEP.
In 2013, if nepotism had been practised in the State of Selangor like in venerable Pulau Pinang, there would be NO CRISIS TODAY. ONE EASY STEP !

From the aforementioned, the fumbling and bungling DUO want to rule over all of us, it is absurd. And their FOLLOWERS BELIEVE IT TOO !

  3. It cannot be said as anything else but that Pakatan Rakyat government in Selangor is no more. Although Lim Kit Siang wrote that Pakatan Rakyat is still the Selangor government as it has been the last 6 1/2 years.

Only 4 out of 10 Exco members are from the former Pakatan Rakyat government. It simply cannot be said as still being a PR government now. And it’s good that TS Khalid produced the Sultan’s letter consenting to the dismissal to knock sense into the hard headed DAP Exco fellows who appeared to be talking from Anwar’s rear hole.

    • Even an Anwarista PAS MP and PAS Selangor Deputy Commissioner III, Khalid Samad, has said that the Selangor government no longer belongs to Pakatan Rakyat.

He said so to newsmen and was reported by New Straits Times.

  4. Are these sacked Exco members led by the DAP bloke stupid, ignorant of the Selangor state Constitution, or are they simply like the other DAP fellows, disregard the State Constitution, or even do not have much respect even for the the Federal Constitution, especially those Articles that are protected by the Sedition Act?

Telling a press conference last night that they deemed the Exco sackings invalid as they felt it was impossible for Khalid to have obtained the sultan’s consent yesterday is very silly, to say the least, isn’t it? What kind of people DAP put on the State Exco to help run a State Government, chapchai?

Surely they can use their blasted heads that the Menteri Besar can seek advice from the State Legal Adviser, an ex-officio or unelected but a member of the State Exco by his official position – that has been recognized so since 57 years ago. And surely they can think that if the Sultan’s consent did not come within hours, it’ll come the next day. Why be so stupid as to fight on that non-starter argument? They are products of Chinese schools, are they? Taught only to regurgitate what the teacher repeated again and again, but never taught to think?

DAP Teng was reported to have also said that Khalid, who was an independent assemblyman since his expulsion from PKR on Saturday, could not dismiss any Pakatan Rakyat (PR) member from the Selangor government as it was led by PR. Now, again, what kind of stupid argument is that? Doesn’t he know that the power of sacking Exco members rests with the MB, NOT with the PR?

Khalid was MB, no one ever removed him from the post of MB (only removed his membership from PKR party), the Sultan, after satisfying himself of the current situation from explanations made by Khalid himself, consented that Khalid continue as MB, then what the hell is the DAP bloke talking about?

My goodness, this country would be going to the dogs if DAP is ever allowed to reach Putrajaya.
