Aidil Adha 1435H: Position and role of HRH Rulers and Constitution shall be preserved

Prime Minister Dato’ Sri Mohd. Najib Tun Razak promised the position and role of HRH Rulers which include Constitutional Head of Islam and the Federal Constitution shall be preserved in the identity to reflect Malaysia’s moderate Muslim stance, in his Aidil Adha 1435H message.

Bismillahirrahmanirrahim, Assalamualaikum Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuh,

Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar Walillahil hamd

Sekian, wabillahitaufik walhidayah wassalamualaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh.

This should be the guiding policy of the interpretation of many issues in recent times being brought into centre stage as being prickly and contentious by so few, manipulated to be reflecting the sentiments of the majority.

This include Articles 153 on Special Malay Rights and 3 on Islam.HRH Rulers are not only Constitutional Heads but also sovereign.

Challenging the role and positions of these provisions in the Malaysian Federal Constitution which include the position, role and authority of HRH Rulers has been regarded as “Seditious” and subjected under the Sedition Act, which itself is contentious.

Of late, many pockets of individuals and minority groups are working towards to disband this provision, with the explicit to continuously challenge the role and position of Islam and Special Malay Rights, openly. Some even challenge the validity of the law, which was enacted as the extension of the Emergency Ordinance which was repealed two years ago.

The fact is that when Parliament was re-insitituted in February 1971 after the brief suspension due to the bloody race riots of 13 May 1969, the amendments to the Sedition Act was tabled and passed with two-third support of Parliamentarians.

The fifth para of this Hari Raya Haji speech is clear that provisions such as Articles 153 on Special Malay Rights and 3 on Islam are the basis to define the nationhood of the Federation of Malaysia, which which was formed when nine states under nine different Rulers agreed to form the union which was extended to the Federation of Malaya Agreement dated 21 Jan 1948.

Aidil Adha is the Muslim second holiest holiday, which signified God’s gift to man after prophet Abraham demonstrated submission by carrying out the command to sacrifice his own son prophet Ismail in the name of God.

In this context, Prime Minister Najib reflected the readiness of the Malay-Muslim majority to defend the liberty and the definitive description of this nation as provided in the Federal Constitution.

  1. Najib razak…aah dah sampai tahap tepu al meluat. Kuar je dlm tv terus tukar channel lain.semoga eidadha ni najib razak berkorban utk meletakkan jawatan.

  2. A lot more and nothing less.

A lot more because not only the position and role of HRH Rulers and the Constitution shall be preserved, but they must also be seen to be preserved. Hence, the Sedition Act must not be removed.

That Sedition Act protects the sensitive Articles of the Constitution that concern the positions, functions, roles and responsibilities of HRH Yang Di Pertuan Agong and HRH the Rulers – those that reflect the Ketuanan Melayu – as well as Islam as “the religion of the country” and the Special Position of the Malays and the Bumiputeras of Sabah and Sarawak that is the right and the special interest of 70% of the population. Protected they must be. No two-ways about that.

It’s been quoted by some notable personality that all hell will break loose if the Sedition Act is removed. The former IGP Tan Sri Musa Hassan has yesterday said that abolishing the Sedition Act would threaten the peace and stability enjoyed by Malaysians as the rights and privileges of Bumiputeras could be challenged. I agree with him fully. Right thinking,
responsible and peace-loving Malaysians also do. We must avoid another 13 May 1969 race riots.

It’s been reported that at least 170 out of the total 191 UMNO Divisions want the Sedition Act retained. Including a few Cabinet Ministers and several UMNO Supreme Council members. We note that the PM’s Press Secretary said two days ago, when meeting a group of reporters unhappy with Susan Loone being charged under the Act, that there are groups that don’t want the Act removed. More than groups – they are UMNO Divisions. And at least 170 of them.

    • Correction:

The form of address should, in English, be His Majesty Yang Di Pertuan Agong and yes, it’s HRH for the Rulers.

  3. Najib has promised so many things in the past. Many of these promises never materialised.

So on this Hari Raya Korban, if he renegates on THIS promise, his position as UMNO president will be sacrificed.

    • Hehehe deep meaning..;-)

  4. PM Najib is a Strategic Leader. He plans for many things but tactically, he also panders to the gallery. Being popular is high on his personal agenda.

Yes, Bar Council, Opposition parties and many of the same minority individuals masquarding via multiple NGOs attempting very hard to portray the picture that majority of Malaysians are against archaic laws such as Sedition Act.

However, now PM Najib got to seriously look into this. Especially after 170 of 191 UMNO divisions thunderously against the doing away of the Sedition Act.

Whether PM Najib’s liberal advisers like it or not, UMNO has taken prominence in mainstream politics since 13GE. It was UMNO’s strength that BN recaptured Teluk Intan, retained and gained bigger majority in Pengkalan Kubor and reduced PKR majority in Kajang.

Now that HRH Rulers strated to speak up, in the more recent times by HRH Sultan Selangor for the MB Selangor chronic impasse and HRH Paduka Seri Sultan Perak for the increased cost of living vis-a-vis check on corruption, it would be soon enough before they started to say something in the defense of Special Malay Rights and Islam.

What worried probably many which include PM Najib ‘liberal advisers’, that the tone and context could be damning. HRH Rulers have their finesse way to strike the nail through the rakyats’ heart.

PM Najib should by now be wiser after the event that repealing the so-called draconian ISA and EO did very little good towards public and international perception towards his leadership and the nation as a whole.

It did not bring the Non Malay and so-called young voters’ support for his leadership nor international confidence.

It should also made known in his most recent trip to the US, it was said that the Americans wanted Malaysia to re-install ISA so that we can now be part of their network to round up ISIS fighters/funders/supporters.

PM Najib must also realise the Police are not to driven to use the PCA and SOSMA, to act against baddies like in the minds of the so few who campaigned against ISA and EO.

So many on PM Najib’s plate right now. Its about making the strategic choices. Not to mention there is added pressure since the UMNO General Assembly is about seven and a half weeks away.

BTW, Selamat Hari Raya Haji BD and loyal readers of BD blog.

    • Good to know it was said that the Americans wanted Malaysia to re-install ISA so that we can now be part of their network to round up ISIS fighters/funders/supporters.

I believe that. The Americans still have ISA-like detention without trial in Guantanamo Bay. Some detainees have been there over 10 years. A few released earlier found their way back to the Al Qaeda camp.

Last I read – a few days ago, in the British news portals – there are 120 detainees at the Guantanamo Bay detention centre. Water boarding, forced feeding of those striking-by-fasting detainees.

Najib cannot be forgiven for abolishing the ISA. Until it is re-instituted by Parliament. And if he abolishes the Sedition Act, he should be replaced by UMNO Supreme Council pronto.

    • Najib should use the coming UMNO General Assembly (PAU) to announce that the Sedition Act will be retained, intact. And make it appear to the populace, especially the Malays, that he listens to the 170 Divisions out of the 191 Divisions in UMNO.

If not, delegates to the PAU should lambast him for the mess Najib has created since the repeal of the ISA, EO and RRA. The law and order situation is the worst now than ever in the past, except prior to the race riots of 1969. Racial animosity and seditious tendencies are all over the Internet. Ranging from the Alvin Tan porno actor and bak kut teh buka puasa. To stupid Ambiga alleging the re-writing of history and school children being taught the word “pendatang”. The bitch of a woman does not offer an alternative word to the Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka. Not even the word “pensampai”.

So much of sedition cases occurring now that if the Police were to act on each one of them, the courts would be full of sedition cases every day. But good that the Police has acted and will hopefully continue to act on the more serious ones as and when they occur. Even slap the PKR Vice President Sivarasa more than one sedition charge – what, a total of three now?

      • Surendran the one now facing 2 sedition charges, and the defence team are crying now –

Drop sedition charges against Anwar’s lawyer: Legal defence team
        Channel News Asia – ‎4 hours ago‎

N Surendran, one of Anwar’s lawyer in a sodomy case appeal, is facing two sedition charges, but other lawyers on the team say “it is unprecedented for legal counsel to be charged for sedition

    • Najib has bad strategy when talking about removing Sedition Act. That Act protects the sensitive Articles of the Constitution concerning the Malays, and the Special Position of the Malays and the Bumiputeras of Sabah and Sarawak who together form 70% of the population.

How can he be popular like that.

      • Najib’s THIN ears convinced him that he could win back the chinese votes if he PLEASES the chinese in Malaysia.

As an elite, he forgot that the less fortunate are the majority Malays. His reward was the chinese tsunami SLAP and he is still in a romantic “I love PM” mode of denial.

Konon konon dia lebih popular daripada Tun Dr M, the “dictator”. Nampak sangat, Najib senang kena puji maka senang kena tipu.

      • Careful, Ambiga will be angry being called pendatang – school History text books apparently have that word.

It seems she doesn’t like the word “pensampai”, too.

Wonder what these people think of the word “pencabut”.

  5. Wan

I think if ambiga gets angry again, the ambiburger team will come over to her house for a buttshake.

    • Haha ray, I know some other shakes suitable for Ambiga, but won’t spell them out here out of respect for BD.

  6. There cannot be any mistaking of the Constitution on the roles, functions and responsibilities of the YDP Agong and the Malay Rulers. And the Special Position of the Malays and the Bumiputeras of Sabah and Sarawak.

All these “sensitive Articles” of the Constitution are protected by the Sedition Act. And there cannot be any mistaking of the purpose of that Act. Those wanting it done away with can be construed as wanting the protection under that Act be removed. That has serious implications.

The Malays and the Bumiputeras of Sabah and Srawak, combined, form 70% of the population of the country. Touching on their Special Position will bring about untoward consequences and must be avoided.

Najib plays to the tune of those wanting the Sedition Act be done away with. Many have been asking UMNO to replace him. I support that fully.
