Consistent to the call by UMNO Deputy President Tan Sri Muhyiddin Mohd. Yassin for the “Warlords within UMNO to quit for the sake of the party”, Cheras UMNO Head Dato’ Syed Al Habshee called Wanita UMNO Chief Dato’ Seri Shahrizat Abdul Jalil to throw in the towel too.

Umno AGM: Cheras division chief calls for Shahrizat’s resignation
BY T. AVINESHWARAN
PETALING JAYA: While the Umno president called for party solidarity during the Umno general assembly, a division chief has expressed his unhappiness with Umno Wanita Chief Datuk Seri Shahrizat Abdul Jalil (pic).
On Friday, Cheras Umno division chief Datuk Seri Syed Ali Alhabshee went on Astro Awani to openly ask Shahrizat to resign from her post as the wing head.
“Shahrizat should reflect on herself, and not just be seen as someone who is chasing for a position. It is not fair for her to demand for the vice-president seat for Wanita.
“She has liabilities. So the best solution – Is to step down, end of story,” he said to Astro Awani at PWTC on Friday.
Meanwhile in his blog, he urged Umno Wanita to be more realistic and put people’s agenda first rather than chasing for a bigger role in the party.
He said that the question of giving an important position in the leadership hierarchy shouldn’t be the main importance.
“Wanita Umno shouldn’t voice their thoughts. It is like pressuring and pushing the party president.”
“Those who are burdening the party should just leave, including those in Wanita Umno,” said Syed in his blog.
Before this, Syed disputed the suggestion to increase the Vice-President seats just because the party gets 89 percent support or 171 out 192 support from Wanita Umno divisions around the country.
“It only came from them and was not agreed by the majority members of the party.”
“Why do you have to request the leadership to consider an extra seat for Wanita which will only be contested by those in Wanita Umno.”
“If you’re asking for an extra seat, then the party will have to ‘prepare’ one seat just for Wanita. I deny that Umno is cruel and they don’t recognise women as the backbone of the party.
“Yes … for now, there is no Wanita leader chosen as a full minister. But the members of the wing should ask the Wanita Umno chief why is this happening,” questioned Syed.
This is not the first time that Syed has questioned Shahrizat’s leadership of the wing as he has called on her to step down on a number of occasions over the last two years.
Syed has been consistent about his calls on Shahrizat to bow out, who is undoubtedly has strategically been a liability to UMNO and brought the integrity of an UMNO leader at Vice-Presidency level in vain.
Shahrizat has been playing the “Wanita UMNO solidarity card” to justify her presence in the current post despite her existence as a a de-facto UMNO Vice President stature position is loathed by many UMNO delegate themselves during these annual assemblies.
Her lame sordid excuse which is blindly echoed by Wanita UMNO arden supporters, “Wanita UMNO is the backbone of UMNO machinery”.
Her self-centredness prevalence is nasuseating. Not only Shahrizat failed to give due care on wholesome Malaysians’ perspective towards the nationalist party as the mainstay of Barisan Nasional which is the ruling party, she has now risen to the big-headedness and arrogance of ‘leaving a legacy’.
Shahrizat went on official party platform and dragged Wanita UMNO at the Annual Assembly three years ago to defend her immediate family’s problem with regards to corrupt practices and misuse of funds obtained from Federal Government.
It was a response to PKR leaders’ raised discrepancies with regards to the National Feedlot Corporation Sdn. Bhd. drawdown of soft loan from the Ministry of Agriculture. Part of the funds was alleged to have gone to the acquisition of luxury properties in Bangsar and Singapore.
Malaysians conveniently relate Shahrizat as synonymous with the word ‘NFC’ and ‘Lembu’ whenever abuse of power and corruption is mentioned coyly in everyday conversations.
A year ago, she defeated challenger Dato’ Maznah Mazlan for the Wanita UMNO Chief contest.
Syed Ali is very accurate in his description that “She is a burden to UMNO”. What is more glaring is that him reminding everyone especially UMNO members that Shahrizat is first Wanita UMNO Chief who has been excluded from the Cabinet.
Currently, the only women in Cabinet is not from Wanita UMNO.
“She is very selfish”, is spot on. “She tried to drown all the women” is also true, when Shahrizat used undemocratic practices to retain her position in UMNO’s contest for the top position of the most important wing in 2013.
