Once bitten, shy forever?

The rumours about the ‘proposal to sack UMNO Deputy President Tan Sri Muhiyiddin Mohd. Yassin and Vice President Dato’ Sri Mohd. Shafie Apdal’ in the upcoming UMNO Supreme Council Meeting, is getting really heaty and making many sides getting edgy till Vice President Dato’ Seri Hishamuddin Hussein came out to deny.

NST story:

Hishammuddin denies rumours of sacking Muhyiddin, Shafie

BY RIZALMAN HAMMIM AND AHMAD FAIRUZ OTHMAN –

3 SEPTEMBER 2015 @ 2:59 PM BATU PAHAT: Umno Vice President Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein has denied rumours that the party’s Supreme Council meeting next week would discuss the possibility of sacking Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin and Datuk Seri Shafie Apdal.

“This is all rumours. I am not aware of what will be discussed at the meeting,” Hishammuddin said.

He said this when asked to comment on the rumours circulating on social media that the meeting would discuss the sacking of several party leaders including Muhyiddin and Shafie.

“I would have known if indeed this is in the agenda. Anyway, only the secretary-general would know what the agenda of the meeting will be,” said Hishammuddin.

He said whenever there is a Supreme Council meeting, there will be a lot of assumptions made about what will be discussed.

“Moreover, there are a lot of more pressing issues that needs to be discussed by the council like the economy situation, political stability and the security of the country,” said Hishammuddin.

He was speaking to the media after attending an orientation week programme with 2,445 new students of Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia in Parit Raja here. Meanwhile in Nusajaya, Deputy Umno permanent chairman Tan Sri Mohamad Aziz said the rumoured sacking of the Umno deputy president and other leaders in the run up to the meeting on Sept 9 will weaken the party.

He said these rumours could destroy the unity in Umno. While saying that such rumours had caused concern among Umno’s rank and file, he urged the supreme council to make a wise decision on such matters.

“The supreme council will convene on Sept 9, 2015 and it is being said that the supreme council will take action to suspend or sack the membership of Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin (deputy president) and Datuk Seri Shafie Apdal (vice-president).

“If this is true then it is not a wise decision by the supreme council, which will anger party members. The decision will create a rift among members and weaken the party. Such an unwise decision is very much against the Umno slogan of Bersatu, Bersetia, Berkhidmat (to unite, be loyal and to serve) ,” said Mohamad, who is also Johor state assembly speaker.

He was speaking to reporters at his office today. On July 28, Muhyiddin and Shafie were dropped as Deputy Prime Minister and Rural and Regional Development Minister, respectively in a cabinet reshuffle. Mohamad said that as a veteran Umno member, many Umno members have related their worries to him about the rumour.

He said his intention to speak up about the matter was to ensure that Umno would uphold the unity which it has forged all this while. “My intention to say this is to ensure that the party remains united.”

***************

Exactly seventeen years ago last night, UMNO Supreme Council met and sacked then Deputy President Anwar Ibrahim for alleged sodomy charges. It was a follow through from the sacking of Anwar from the Cabinet as then Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister by Prime Minister Dato’ Sri Dr. Mahathir Mohamad the previous day.

Anwar immediately launched the mobstreet demonstration campaign ‘Reformasi’ within a few days, citing unjust sacking is because the leadership of the Government and UMNO was protecting their cronyism, abuse of power and corruption.

The ‘Reformasi’ movement grew and became a weekly affair for weeks, which spilled into when the Commonwealth Games in Kuala Lumpur was on later in September of 1998 and the Asia-Pacific Economic Council (APEC) Summit in November of the same year.

Many especially UMNO Youth challenged Prime Minister Dr Mahathir’s action by becoming thorns within the party since not that many actually exited UMNO openly. They remained within UMNO but were part of the poison to demonise Party President Dr Mahathir.

The episode of the sacking of Anwar and  ‘Reformasi’ movement became a major political and confidence thorn in Prime Minister Dr. Mahathir’s leadership admist the hardwork to recover the economy and put it back on track, after the Asian Financial Crisis 1997-8 and the economic slump there after.

The sacking of Anwar episode was unlike the leadership challenge of April 1987 where Dr Mahathir was challenged by former Vice President Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah.  That saw UMNO clearly divided as  ‘Team A Vs Team B contest’ and as the consequence was UMNO was declared illegal in February 1988 by Kuala Lumpur High Court.

The sacking of Anwar did not split the party unlike the ‘Team A Vs Team B’ episode. However, the Malays were split.

The reflective is seen in 10GE in November 1999 where UMNO lost 22 Parliamentary seats and PAS gained 19 seats. Four Cabinet Minister also lost their seats, Dato’ Sri Megat Junid Megat Ayub, Dato’ Mustapha Mohamad, Dato’ Dr Abdul Hamid Othman and Dato’ Annuar Musa.

Prime Minister Dato’ Sri Mohd. Najib Tun Razak, then Education Minister almost was defeated when he narrowly retained his Pekan Parliamentary seat with a 241 majority.

Over all, BN saw the reduction from 162 seats in the 192 seats Parliament for the 9GE in April 1995 to 148 seats at the 10GE in November 1999. UMNO lost 24% of its Parliamentary seats, mostly to PAS. UMNO also lost the State of Terengganu to PAS in the same 10GE.

This is despite that the dissenters of the ‘Team A Vs Team B contest’ of 1987 who left UMNO to form Semangat 46 after UMNO was declared illegal in February 1988, voluntarily disbanded their party in 1996 and returned back into the folds of UMNO, for the sake of ‘Malay Unity’.

The ‘Anwar factor through Reformasi’ was a major bane against UMNO, despite the unification of UMNO Baru and Semangat 46. It was a bitter lesson which was supposed to learnt.

That episode saw for the first time how the use of internet expounded the reach and speed of information, by many times. Rumours and falsehoods spread like wild fire and were taken in as truth, especially when the Anwar backers, supporters and Opposition manage to create the serious negative perception and questionable integrity of the mainstream media.

UMNO was very slow in all the counter measures against the use of new and alternative media.

The advancement of communication and information through technology compound the factors of what UMNO had got to face the crisis of 1998-9 by many folds.

Unless it is glaring that these leaders co-operated with Opposition leaders openly against the party especially during an election campaign, then there would not be any solid excuse to initiate an expulsion exercise.

Hence, UMNO is unable to face the repercussion for another episode of sacking Supreme Council level leaders, regardless what are the mitigating circumstances and evidence presented.

  1. i wonder where your place in history will be. despite the many variables objectively pointing towards one instance, you selectively keep bringing old issues that have no relevance.

anwar did what he did as his first move. what about Tun? he exhausted all the available avenues first. when you are up against someone who constantly changes the goalpost, the last resort is people power bro. and he didnt even initiate the thing. he just had a look.

everything is being snapped in the bud. the charge sheet was a day or two late. had that gone out, i wonder how your tone of writing would be.

please comment about the swiss authorities freezing accounts. would like to hear that drama being played out. no mention on interpol rejecting pdrm’s application for Clare? what a joke bro. seriously.

    • IGP said Tun Dr Mahathir will be called up to assist in the investigation over his his attendance at the Bersih 4 rally last week. But I don’t think for attending illegal assembly. Tens of thousands others did and all jails will be full if that is so.

The IGP said the police will also investigate the statements made by the former premier at the rally. “He had made a speech and several accusations. We want to know more of what he meant and from where he obtained the information,” Khalid said at a press conference the other day. “For example, he said UMNO division heads have been bribed. So we want to know more… ” he added.

Sharir Samad, UMNO Johor Bahru Division leader has plainly stated to media that he received RM1 million, said to be for his Division’s running expenses. To prove that was so and not a bribe, Sharir may have to put out an account how the money was spent. So would Ahmad Maslan, the Pontian Division leader, said to have received RM2 mill. So would so many others.

If others don’t admit they also received the money, Najib will have much more to answer than RM2.6 billion minus RM191 mill (say, RM250 mill as some received RM2 mill each) if all Divisions admit receiving.

    • “the charge sheet was a day or two late …” You mean that charge sheet was for Najib? Can you or any one else say more about that?

      • a ‘bird’ or rather a ‘cat’ told me.

one of the names (not our ‘beloved’ pm) on the charge sheet called and asked quite a famous lawyer to represent him.

suddenly AG ghani ‘quit’ due to health reason.

new AG apandi had in a way or two confirmed that the charge sheet exist.

refer rahman dahlan interview with the star.

and rahman insinuate that all the actions taken, are necessary to stop ‘the plot to criminalise pm’.

so, AG, MACC and BNM are plotting to criminalise pm?

what AG, MACC and BNM can gain from those act?

      • Looks like your ‘bird’ or ‘cat’ had tweaked it. Gani did not ‘quit’ and not for health reason. He got shocked, to the point of tak boleh cakap – dia tak tau pun, alih alih dapat tau kena pecat. And only thru the papers, brader.

Too long to flip back to get the links on those but the news stuck on my mind and that was the correct situation. Remember he told reporters in exasperation that he did not know the reason and banged the phone? Anyway, Gani a good civil servant, just kept quiet, did not spill the beans.

Not clear to me that Apandi had confirmed that the charge sheet exist. But I got the same impression – feeling only, didn’t know it for a fact.

Yes, I remember Rahman insinuating that all the actions taken, are necessary to stop ‘the plot to criminalise pm’. But again, I thought he said on pure conjecture.

To your question, I think if AG, MACC and BNM were “to criminalise pm,” they must must have strong basis. And that basis must be lying somewhere – if not dealt with by the “hidden hands”

what AG, MACC and BNM can gain from those act? They must be doing their jobs, mate. Can they be faulted for doing those? But the “hidden hands”? Boy oh boy if only I know who. The Deputy Director of Special Branch wouldn’t have used those words if they weren’t any. Btw, any development on the poor guy after his leave ends?

      • haba.

you tried to read between the line. but you still miss it quite badly.

        duh.

      • ch,

Why can’t you people counter-comment by not only pointing out what was missed, but also state what it was you wanted readers to know.

Isn’t it stupid? Surely you want readers to believe what you said, otherwise why the hell you left a comment in here. Yet you are not saying it in clear terms and, even when commented, still not clarifying it.

You behave like the DAP and other Oppo Hippos – you state an opinion but ask or expect readers to find the facts or arguments to substantiate what you say.

Are you here for a discussion or trying to win arguments the DAP way?

You avoid clarity coz you want to hide under ambiguity and don’t want to be whacked to smithereens?

        bu.

      • Or are you the subversive kind? Introduce a controversial and/or sensitive point or two designed to confuse the people or, in serious cases, cause anxiety or alarm and despondency. Like those arrested under ISA, including Lim Kit Siang and Guan Eng.

If so, thank your lucky stars that ISA is no more. But its supposed alternative, POTA, is in, the legislation has just taken effect a few days ago after being gazetted. We’ll see how it’s applied by the authorities and my advice to you is not to be subversive because it’s not pleasant to be Kamunting-captive.

      • i make it direct so that it is easier for people to understand.

somebody told me that a lawyer told him that he had been asked to represent one of the accused on the said charge sheet. the accused is not pm najib.

        then AG ghani was sacked.

rahman dahlan said he was not sacked. but any tom, dick, harry and their dogs know that AG ghani was sacked.

and the PAC, MACC incidents and whats not.

in his interview with the star here (do read it if you haven’t):
        http://www.thestar.com.my/News/Nation/2015/08/16/Swimming-against-the-tide-to-get-to-the-truth-Barisan-Nasional-strategic-communications-director-Da/

rahman said that AG apandi said that the charge sheet does exist.

in the same interview, he said the charge sheet is a conspiracy to criminalise the pm. hence, the action to sack AG and silencing MACC and BNM is justified.

so, government agencies, the task force team set up to investigate 1MDB, are conspiring to criminalise pm? why? does that make any sense to anybody?

rahman said that. and rahman expect people to believe that?

        ISA? OSA? POTA? SOSMA? bullshit!

this is not a slander. this is rahman dahlan’s interview with the star. are you stupid or what?

let’s not talk about other loophole in rahman’s argument like the ‘donation’ is for UMNO when the wednesday before he made the interview, which is on sunday, wan adnan, ketua bahagian kuantan, said that najib told 146 bahagian that it is a personal donation.

      • oh. btw.

big dog know who i am. personally.

he can tell the authorities about what i said here.

you don’t have to worry about that.

      • You are still being offensive. Must be born and bred that way.

Your 19:12 comment was offensive. You could have just explained that time. No need to be offensive, then there would have been no issue.

Your 12:05 comment asked people to refer to rahman dahlan interview with the star. You did not give the link. You expected people to remember all that was said in the star interview. Or to google it. And when people didn’t you became offensive. Is that how you communicate with people? That’s not only stupidity but also arrogance.

Then your 23:11 comment did include the link – which you could have provided in your earlier comment but didn’t. But in so doing you were offensive again. And name dropping Big Dog. Good that you did as I now presume that you are not a DAP bloke, only offensive like they often are.

Thank God I don’t see you commenting in here often. Out of respect for BD, I’ll not engage in any further communication with you to avoid unpleasant or heated exchanges. I’d rather deal with real DAP blokes.

  2. “Krisis UMNO lebih buruk kalau pecat Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin” –

Setuju, amat setuju. Penyokong dia bukan di Johor saja. Juga di NS, Perak, Kedah dll.

Dah lah UMNO dah buat salah, nak singkir Anani Ketua Bahagaian Wanita Langkawi pun tak ikut peraturan. Tak nelalui MKT, kata Megat Najmudin, Ketua Tribunal Disiplin.

  3. Seriously Anwar was a sodomite, hence his expulsion.

What has Muhyiddin done wrong? Speaking the truth out loud?

    That is a crime??

    • We are not sure what they have against Muhyiddin and how that could be interpreted, based on the party constitution.

Probably he did something grave, which is not known to the general public.

Just wait and see if this surface and whether or not, what ever they have and/or details of the evidence and discussion/debate, would be shared to the general public.

Its just ‘Wait and See’, for now.

  4. Ahli ahli Umno ni,

Dah dapat duit RM2.6b tanpa sepicing usaha pun, tak syukur lagi. Semua berlumba lumba nak tunjukkan kejantan masing masinh.

Camanala nak mintak keluokan duit sendiri utk ‘Perjuangan’?

Dulu zaman Tunku, bolehlah mintak MCA sponsor utk PRU.

Nak datang mesoarat pun mintak ‘duit minyak’……

    • Takda so’al keluor duit sendiri lagi dah.

Pulak nya tuh, semua parti politik buat. DAP di katakan ambik duit berjuta juta rasuah komisen jual tanah Kerajaan negeri Penang. Dah habis tanah sediakala, tanah buatan manusia pulak – reclaimed land. Beribu ekar kata Setia Usaha Agong Gerakan.

The end game, golongan minoriti akan sedikit sedikit makin berkuasa sehinggakan mendapat penguasaan sepenuhnya.

      • Umno Lama,

Betul Bang, dunia hari ini dunia kebendaan semua pergerakan/ aktiviti/program memerlukan modal. Tapi ada had jumlah modal nya. Terutama nya sebab ada peraturan pilihanraya, Bang.

Betul juga majoriti rakyat masih berharapkan bantuan, tapi bikin projek banyak banyak le, jangan kasi wang tunai BRIM aje. Kasi peluang niaga.

Dasar Baru Ekonomi Najib derap pertama nya hampir tak sebutkan DEB, deap akhir pun sebut sikit aje.

  5. That the rumour heated up suggests keen interest on the matter and perhaps an attempt to pre-empt the sacking or suspension of Muhyiddin and Shafie Afdal. That in itself shows the extent of the divide that will occur if the Supreme Council takes such an action.

That Hishammudin didn’t know of the Supreme Council’s agenda doesn’t mean no such action will take place. Many things happen on the quiet these days. “Hidden hands” are around in many places.

Right this very minute Muhyiddin’s and Shafie’s people must be scurrying and hushing around, planning their strategy and tactics, campaigning, cajoling and promising goodies to be dished out in times of Muhyiddin or Shafie having power.

But CASH IS KING is a very potent medicine. It can dullen people’s minds, even make people sleepy or go silent when told to at meetings and serious discussions. Such is the case of politics everywhere. It’s not that politics is dirty, it’s people with the cash.

    • Yeah … the curse of Sang Kelembai.

  6. Alarm and despondency and a politics of fear exist among UMNO members and supporters of the big two now. Imagine the talk about casualties, those already experiencing removal from posts and positions in the name of transfers, expiry and non-renewal of contracts of Government Officers and those “political appointees”.

It has been extremely difficult to maintain the “POLITICALLY CORRECT” posture among politicians and business people as well. Sure “hidden hands” are around even in the award of contracts. If Senior Treasury Officers and even Minister and Deputy Minister could “tow the line” on 1MDB issues, why not in the award of contracts. The last word on award of major contracts rests with the Minister of Finance. The big problem is the “line” may not be straight.

Must be hard times now for those concerned. They will always remember “the legacy of wealth” story that was denied by Najib’s siblings, including CIMB Nazir, in a written and signed statement. The extent the PMO Office went to issue the “legacy of wealth” statement in the first instance makes many people feel creepy and flabbergasted.

Woe betide the state of affairs in the country now.

    • TMJ said ,kalau kepala tak betul ,ekor pon tak betul .

  7. Good that you’ve posted this story. It’s very apt to bring this up now.

Let’s look at current situation. UMNO is at its lowest ebb of the Malay support. Even lower than the times when Anwar was sacked.

Never before in history an UMNO President under so much distrust by the Malays. It’s UMNO worst test ever.

PAS is under threat too. Half of its MPs hv crossed to remain in political fornication with DAP.

Maybe PAS President does not enjoy the proportion of displeasure and distrust amongst its members like UMNO President. Never the less, it’s still a hard place to be.

Last weekend’s rally should be a wake up call for both UMNO and PAS. The Chinese are solidly ganging up to defy and demonstrate their arrogance and displeasure against the Malay leaders, be it UMNO or PAS alike.

It’s the best time for leaders of both parties to start talking and foster an alliance. After all, UMNO and PAS hv more commonalities as Malay parties.

They should work on these common grounds and strive to move forward because separately, they are worse of on their own.

I am willing to bet majority of the Malay NGOs would come forward and extend their resources to see this relationship through, all for the sake and excuse of ‘The Ummah’.

It’s the right time for the Malays to be brothers and tighten their kinship as the same bangsa and agama.

    Its UMNO’s neo-social contract.

    Apa mau tunggu lagi?

    • Agree with you whole-heartedly.

Najib and his men and women are engrossed in the turmoil that’s UMNO to day. Some NGOs respected by both PAS and UMNO should initiate action.

Quietly, behind-the-scenes. Announce only when some firm understanding on a “will” to “work together” for the sake of Malay and Muslim interest.

  8. I think a sufficient number of people have already expressed the view that UMNO/BN will lose PRU14 if Najib continues to lead, even with Muhyiddin as DP and DPM. Sacking or suspending Muhyiddin and Shafie now would cause so much split in the party that UMNO/BM would surely meet their doom at the coming general elections.

Those who think otherwise have not produced convincing analysis of the prospects of winning under Najib, complete with figures on the number of the existing constituencies retainable, those likely to be lost, those with tiny margins, explaining how the split in UMNO and among the former Pakatan Rakyat members would affect the voting in those areas.

I suspect UMNO themselves are unable to tell – so many are in cloud minus 5 now, gloomy, anxious, confused, angry. Judging from the fact that the UMNO Secretary General, having a complement of full-time and monthly paid staff, goofed over the sacking of Anina, the Langkawi Wanita Division Head, UMNO under Najib has gone bunkum. They didn’t even check the rules that require sacking decisions to be made by the Supreme Council, as said by Megat Najmuddin, Chairman of the Disciplinary Tribunal.

How to get UMNO/BN win PRU14 under those circumstances? There’s a limit to the effectiveness of cash is king approach – if indeed that was used at PRU13. If RM2.6 billion was required in 2013, how much would be needed in 2018? More Arab princes in line to donate? Maybe Tun Dr Mahathir being away in the Middle East for a week until 9 Sept is trying to find out more about the “Middle Eastern donor”.

And now UMNO/Najib is being sued for spending hugely more than allowed under the rules to win PRU13.

PPSMI gagal. Bestari dot net gagal. Makin ramai ibubapa kurang mempercayai sistem pelajaran. Sekolan Cina makin banyak.

Muhyiddin is a good man. But in reality, he is not an alternative to Najib.

      • Betul, hampir tiada Orang Umno yg lama yg tiada ‘baggage’.

Kesan nya – mereka tak reti terima kasih kpd Melayu (ungrateful ingrate kata orang), tambah pulak nak ungkit Kedudukan Istimewa Melayu hingga mencetus pergaduhan kaum 13 Mei 1969.

Tapi kena tsunmi Cina jugak dia,

Sebalik hya, coba Abang snaraikan kejayaan Najib – mata wang Ringgit menjunam ke tahap yang teruk sejak 17 tahun, pelabur asing banyak yang cabut. Namun demikian, coba lah senaraikan kejayaan dia, Bang.

      • Bacalah,

StarBiz lapor Fakhri Yassin Mahiaddin buat corporate exercise http://www.thestar.com.my/Business/Business-News/2015/06/01/Interesting-personalities-appear-in-Mulpha-Land/?style=biz

Sorry.
        http://www.thestar.com.my/Business/Business-News/2015/06/19/Mulpha-Land-changes-name-to-Thriven-Global/?style=biz

NTAnya RM155 juta.

        75% Lembaga Pengarahnya Cina.

        Go figure!

BTW, Pengarah Eksekutif lebih berkuasa banding dgn CEO. CEO tu Ketua Eksekutif. Kalau Pengerusi Eksekutif, lagilah besor kuasa!

  9. Perhaps some rationality has to reign supreme.

Bersih 1,2 and 3 were not seen as chinese agenda. It was supported by Anwar and PKR. It was also jam-packed with PAS and kampung Muslim supporters.

The reason for minimum Malay participation at B4 is because of PAS splitting from PR and Anwar in jail.

So why is Bersih4 so racial in perception? That Black 505 was supported by majority chinese youths but with Anwar as the leader and Adam Adli as the youth leader. Yet no one perceived it as a chinese agenda.

There is a michievously dangerous propaganda going on. To save Najib, his bootlickers have painted Bersih4 as a chinese takeover of UMNO-led government.

DAP without PKR and PAS has ZERO political clout. So to simply brush B4 as “biadap” chinese uprising is simply idiotic.

Pekan voters have protested loudly against B4 where Malays were seen to have also participated. Perhaps these Malays should vouce their reasons for their presence.

If PAS and UMNO combine, the end result might be – turban-clad politicians worshipping “Cash is King” and hudud becomes rule of law.

Just think and ponder. No offence meant.

    • The UMNO-PAS “working together” needs not be an alternative to UMNO replacing Najib. Whether or not Najib leads UMNO/BN until PRU14, the initiative(s) of getting co-operation among the two largest Malay/ Muslim political parties can be started now and hopefully bring results at PRU14.

But the risk of losing is still there. The best hope of winning is UMNO led by another leader who is more acceptable to the voters than others. I think Muhyiddin is. He doesn’t have such a huge baggage. As Deputy President, there would be so much disgruntlement if he takes over. He has also worked with BN component parties for many years – he Chairs the group.

And, without “Cash Is King” man, there won’t be “turban-clad politicians .. and hudud becomes rule of law.” If all other acts to get Najib replaced do not bear fruit early enough, try Sembahyang Hajat. No harm trying divine providence, issit. PAS did it to “KO UMNO” and UMNO/BN lost the popular votes.

      • Correction:

As Deputy President, there would be so much disgruntlement if he takes over.

It should be “there would NOT be so much disgruntlement if he takes over.”

  10. Muhyiddin is said to be preparing defence against rumoured sacking.

Umno observers say that there is no valid reason to sack Muhyiddin when the party Supreme Council meets on Sept 9.

Malaysiakini thinks that Muhyiddin, who just returned from Australia, held a meeting with his team recently to discuss the Umno “showdown” on Wednesday.

Alamak, got to pay 36 sen for the rest of the story. It makes the report not reliable, hehe.

  11. “The reflective is seen in 10GE in November 1999 where UMNO lost 22 Parliamentary seats and PAS gained 19 seats….

Prime Minister Dato’ Sri Mohd. Najib Tun Razak, then Education Minister almost was defeated when he narrowly retained his Pekan Parliamentary seat with a 241 majority…”

And postal votes appeared to suddenly turned the tide for him. One could not help but think was Cash already King even back then?

Anyway sacking TMY and Shafie Apdal will lead to further discontent among members and ultimately hasten UMNO/BN doom, thanks to Mr President and that small circle of people beholden to him.

  12. Are there only 2 factions in UMNO now? Pro-Najib/Zahid and pro-Muhyiddin/Shafie/Mukhriz factions?

Anyway, being politically correct is difficult these days. One may end up talking only about the weather when in their company. Even if one is not King Cash-ish.

  13. If what is said by the former Deputy Director of the Special Branch is true – and I have no reason to disbelieve the career officer who has had 37 years service with the Police and mostly as an Intelligence man – then the factional strife within UMNO is likely to worsen.

According to a “news portal”, Abdul Hamid Bador has called for an end to “bullying of civil servants” by political leaders and questioned whether he was transferred on short notice because of his meeting with Gani Patail before Gani was dismissed as Attorney-General, or because of an “urgent meeting” chaired by PM Najib.

In a statement issued last night, Hamid demanded an answer from the Home Minister, Ahmad Zahid. Hamid said his transfer to the Prime Minister’s Department was unusual because the order came from the Home Minister. “I want an answer from Zahid himself as he was the one who verbally informed me of the transfer and must know the reason,” he said.

He said there was no job awaiting him at the PM’s Department. It was reported earlier that he was being made deputy director of a security unit looking into international crime.

He also said, “I admit that I was at Gani’s house for almost an hour and a half (2 nights before that). Many things were discussed. I admit that Gani had before this frequently asked the Special Branch for views on various cases, especially on their impact on national security.”

Hamid had also previously mentioned about “hidden hands” in connection with his removal from the SB post. Muhyiddin’s faction in UMNO is likely to be pondering hard about this in connection with Muhyiddin’s removal from the DPM post.

  14. […] evening’s UMNO Supreme Council is already overly speculated where the rumours are already spreading wildly, tempting and simulating the borderless imagination […]
