PETALING JAYA: Lim Kit Siang (pic) says that he had met with Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad and discussed issues affecting the country.

In his speech at the Selangor councillors meeting on Tuesday, the DAP adviser said that he had met with the former premier as well as former law minister Datuk Zaid Ibrahim.

“I have met and discussed with Mahathir on the current national situation as well as Zaid on his March 27 initiative.

“Both were encouraging developments to find a solution to the national issues,” he said, adding that DAP would support all efforts to save Malaysia.

“Hopefully, along with a grand coalition made up of MPs from both sides of the political divide,” he noted.

Lim, however, said he could not comment on what was discussed.

“There is a lot to be done and deliberated and we need to take those steps now.

On who would lead this “grand coalition”, Lim said there were too many things to consider.

“We are in a deep canyon now. It should not be a decision made solely by political parties but by the people and all their representatives.

“Which is why it is important for this grand coalition to work as only with the support of the 112 MPs can we move on from this current situation,” he said.

**************

The two had been political nemesis since 1969 and at odds with each other, either in the augur house of Parliament or making separate statements taking pot shots against one another.

It is most unorthodox meeting of the two, especially on a political agenda.

The former Fifth UMNO President has called Emperorissimo Lim as “Racist”, far too many times. In reciprocity, Lim said too many nasty things against Dr Mahathir also.

It is very surprising that Dr Mahathir met Lim hours before the Fifth UMNO President announced his departure from the nationalist party, citing irreconcilable differences with party President Prime Minister Dato’ Sri Mohd. Najib Tun Razak. Dr Mahathir also see that UMNO is beyond reprieve.

It is the Chinese Chauvinist desire to defeat BN through UMNO by breaking the Malays up. They have been hard nose at this since People’s Action Party (PAP) entered the Malaysian political scene upon the inclusion of Singapore in Federation of Malaysia on 16 Sept 1963.

When Singapore was expelled on 9 August 1965, Democratic Action Party (DAP) was formed as a spin off to continue the struggle of the Chinese Chauvinist agenda to overpower the Malays and take over reign of the nation.

For more than 7 months, Lim have expressed Oppositions’ intention, especially DAP, for Dr Mahathir to join their cause to go after Prime Minister Najib, who have been on the Oppositions’ target sight to be defeated in their strategy to cripple UMNO/BN, since April 2007.

Apparently, the man who said that “UMNO is my life” met with a bunch of Opposition leaders as the leaves the nationalist party for the third time.

The question now is, if Dr Mahathir is willing to work with the Oppositions; agenda to so-called “Save Malaysia”, then the Thirteen Million Plus Ringgit questions shall be; Is he willing to have a DAP man as the next Prime Minister if and when BN falls?

We can’t help but when burning ideas suddenly combusted through the arteries in the clotted mind, like ‘Council of Elders’ as the Good Doctor demanded Prime Minister Najib incept, does it now mean to include personality like Chinese Chauvinist Emperorissimo Lim?
