“A tree which served well”

Barisan Nasional (BN) candidate for P005 Jerlun Dato’ Othman Aziz likened the ruling coalition party is a tree which so much service to so many over so long and shouldn’t be cut off.

“Imagine us (BN) is like a big tree which has been around for over sixty years. It provided shade, shelter, bore fruits and served the eco-system”.

The incumbent MP for Jerlun added “Why should you cut that tree off just because they planted a small new tree and promised that it would give an abundance of sweeter fruits?”.

Othman, who is also Deputy Minister of Finance I, is confident of retaining the seat of his birth place. Challenging him is former MB Kedah Mukhriz Mahathir representing the Opposition coalition using the PKR logo and a former State Assemblyman for Ayer Hitam reprinting PAS, Abdul Ghani Ahmad.

Asked about local issues of the folks of Jerlun are related to Padi farming matters.

“We have rationalised the price of Padi, which is RM1,050 per ton. It used to be variable for different places in Semenanjung Malaysia”.

“We have also rationalised and increased the subsidy of Padi from RM248.10 per ton to RM300.00 per ton”.

Another point the former planter for Sime Darby Group added is that Government has introduced RM200.00 per month subsistence for Padi farmers, in between harvest seasons to alleviate their daily lives issues.
