Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad’s personal business venture, The Loaf is now open at the Pavillion, Jalan Bukit Bintang, Kuala Lumpur. This is the second outlet, after the first one in Langkawi. The Pavillion outlet starts opening its doors this morning, at ten.
Tun Dr. Mahathir has been a staunch advocate of middle class Malay entrepreneurship, especially towards the end of his Premiership. He had shown personal interests in the development of consumer goods retailers by the Malays and sit in the TEKUN committees under the Ministry of Entrepreneur Development. One of the question he always posed was “How many Malay bakeries we have so far? Don’t the Malays eat bread too?”.
The Loaf is demonstration of that commitment.

Yes, its an upmarket bakery. Like any other eateries where the cooks, in this case, pastry chef are Japanese, its pricey-er compare to the local or even western themed bakeries.
