SPRM wajar siasat ubah suai DUN Pulau Pinang

High treason

PM ‘Flip-Flop’ Dato’ Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi should be hanged for ‘High Treason’. Fourth Prime Minister Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad revealed a shocking information of his successor’s what is thought to be utter ignorance and negligence of the higher order.

The fact is that, as the Prime Minister PM ‘Flip-Flop’ Abdullah did not have the ultra vires power to hive of any part of Malaysia’s sovereign territory unilaterally, even with Cabinet approval. More over if it is Sabah or Sarawak which has the 20 point agreement upon being a member of the Federation of Malaysia on 16 September 1963. At least when First Prime Minister Tunku Abdul Rahman Putra expelled Singapore from the Federation of Malaysia, he went to Parliament.

The USD 100 billion (RM 320 billion) quoted by Tun Dr. Mahathir is just an estimate. No one can really tell what is the real value of the ‘damage’ it will cost Malaysia because the earnings from the two well blocks can only be calculated when it is over, maybe over 30-40 years time. Regardless, the opportunity cost is damning enough.

The interesting thing now is what the Federal Government will do after this shocking revelation.  The question where was Wisma Putra when the deal to hive of the block L and M for Limbang district, which finally did not materialise should be answered. If in the case of ‘VK Lingam’ so many quarters demanded for a Royal Commission of Inquiry, then this case should be much more. We owe this much to the nation and the future generations.

Questions loom: What were the mitigating points and arguments that PM ‘Flip-Flop’ Abdullah made the unilateral decision? Who influenced him to did what he did? Who benefited from this?

For the time being, PM ‘Flip-Flop’ Abdullah’s Darjah Seri Maharaja Mangku Negara (SMN) should be withdrawn if not stripped. He grossly demeans the other recipients of the ‘Tun’ award with this diplomatic blunder and indecency.

Laporan The Star:

Selangor Sultan warns politicians again on using mosques

BY EDWARD R. HENRY

KLANG: Selangor ruler Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah has warned politicians who continue using mosques for political activities that they are deemed to be defying his Royal Decree.

He said those politicians who did not agree with his decree should stay away from Selangor.

He said this in his speech during the officiating ceremony of SM Agama Tinggi Sultan Hishamuddin here on Thursday.

Sultan Sharafuddin had last week stated that politicians should not use mosques for their activities and had directed police to take stern action against anyone organising political ceramah in mosques.

Since then, both Kelantan Mentri Besar Datuk Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat and Selangor executive councillor Datuk Dr Hasan Ali have come under fire for delivering political ceramah in mosques.

*************

Nik Aziz: I was unaware of Selangor Sultan’s decree

KOTA BARU: Kelantan Mentri Besar Datuk Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat, under fire for his remark contradicting the Sultan of Selangor’s decree that mosques should not be used as a political platform, said he was unaware of such a decree.

Having been a mentri besar for 20 years, Nik Aziz said he would know better than to slight the feelings of a Ruler and blamed the media for blowing out of proportion the statement he had made in Hulu Selangor recently.

“It never crossed my mind I was slighting the Sultan of Selangor. When reporters asked me about the matter, I merely said that mosques could be used for political reasons because the call of azan for people to congregate and for prayers is considered a political action.

“Mosques are a place for politics and I was unaware of the decree by the Sultan of Selangor because to me politics and religion are inseparable.

“I am disappointed with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak for criticising me over my statement,” he told reporters at the Sultan Ismail Petra airport here yesterday.

Nik Aziz, who is also PAS spiritual adviser, said this when asked to comment on Najib’s statement that he (Nik Aziz) was uncouth for disobeying the Sultan of Selangor’s decree that mosques should not be used for politics.

Najib said Nik Aziz had committed a serious breach of disobedience of the Sultan’s orders, adding that it was a violation of the Federal Constitution and Islamic principles.

Nik Aziz retorted that Najib himself had used mosques to hand out gifts in cash and kind to the people.

To a question, he said he was considering legal action against the media for distorting his statement but chose to leave it for now.

**********

Sedutan Akta Hasutan:

Under section 3(1), those acts defined as having a seditious tendency are acts with a tendency:

(a) to bring into hatred or contempt or to excite disaffection against any Ruler or against any Government;

(b) to excite the subjects of the Ruler or the inhabitants of any territory governed by any government to attempt to procure in the territory of the Ruler or governed by the Government, the alteration, otherwise than by lawful means, of any matter as by law established;

(c) to bring into hatred or contempt or to excite disaffection against the administration of justice in Malaysia or in any State;

(d) to raise discontent or disaffection amongst the subjects of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong or of the Ruler of any State or amongst the inhabitants of Malaysia or of any State;

(e) to promote feelings of ill-will and hostility between different races or classes of the population of Malaysia; or

(f) to question any matter, right, status, position, privilege, sovereignty or prerogative established or protected by the provisions of part III of the Federal constitution or Article 152, 153 or 181 of the Federal Constitution.

************************

Chinese chauvinist DAP is completely silent about Aminul’s shooting

Chinese chauvinist DAP is known for their ‘thumping-the-law-enforcement-agencies’ attitude and approach, especially when it comes to how the armed authorities carry out their job. However, they completely silent about the shooting of 15 year old Aminul Rashid Amzah in Shah Alam a few nights ago.

NST reported on the plight of the Amzah family seeking justice and truth for their son:

‘My son not a criminal’

2010/04/27

By Noor Hazwan Hariz Mohd
news@nst.com.my

SHAH ALAM: “My son was not a criminal.”

This was the cry from Norsiah Mohamad, 61, whose son was shot dead by police on Monday.

Sobbing throughout the press conference at her home in Section 11 here yesterday, Norsiah said Aminulrasyid was her youngest of eight children.

“He was active in school. He respected his elders and now police say he is a criminal after shooting him,” she said bitterly.

“I want justice for my son. The police should not protect their men.”

Aminulrasyid’s sister, Nor Azura, 39, was also upset that her brother was labelled a criminal by police.

“How can they claim he was a criminal? This cannot be happening to us.”

She said her brother had probably sneaked out from their family home that night to meet friends. “That was his only crime,” she said.

The victim’s uncle, Kamarudin Hassan, said the family called for a press conference to clear Aminulrasyid’s name.

“I was told that he went out with his friend before they met with a minor accident. He was just 15, so he must have panicked and fled from the scene. That doesn’t make him a criminal,” Kamarudin said.

He was also puzzled with reports that a parang was found in the car.

“That was a family car. We never carry a parang with us.”

Another of the victim’s sisters, Tuty Shahniza Anom, 36, said she only knew that he took the car after her husband received a call from police.

She claimed they received the call about 3.30am and when she checked the porch, the car was missing.

“I then saw a lot of policemen near the house but they did not allow us to go near the scene.”

**********

As far as we know at this point of time, the Police is investigating the shooting case. The Minister of Home Affairs Dato’ Seri Hishamuddin Hussein gave assurance that due consideration would be given to ensure that the truth would uncovered on how the 15 year old teenager was shot at 300am.

This case  is highly controversial and even sensational. Never the less, DAP is completely silent about it. Their leaders neither did make any comments or statements nor ask for a thorough investigations, like they always do.

Why the silence? How come DAP Leaders such as Lim Kit Siang, Lim Guan Eng, Theresa Kok and Ronnie Liu did not jump to the very opportunity to demonise the Police in the same breadth of demanding a ‘Royal Inquiry’ for the shooting?

The answer is simple. It is because Aminul Amzah is a Malay boy. Had it been a Non Malay like A Kugan or Teoh beng Hock, it would have been different. The  Chinese chauvinists and anti Malay, especially those waiting for any opportunity to trample and demonise law enforcement agencies people simply gave a similar case like this a miss because the deceased is a Malay boy.

We here in BigDogDotCom have discussed this before. In the case of Wan Siti Farihan, the DAP was silent too when a student died of ‘sudden death’ in outside her dormitory in UKM (which is a Government owned facility). The fact that in the case of A Kugan’s death in Police lock-up was ascertained to a Policeman of Indian ethnicity, the DAP suddenly became ‘quiet’ about it.

Again, we challenge the DAP to prove themselves NOT Anti Malay and Chinese chauvinist. If they are so adamant about being ‘Malaysian, Malaysia, ensure that 25% of the application to the next recruitment drive for the Police Force, any of the tri-services under ATM, MMEA, MACC, Customs, Immigrations and etc are submitted by Chinese youths for consideration and selection. They too as Malaysians must do their bit for the defense of the realm.

Otherwise, they shall be known as Chinese chauvinists and anti Malay unless otherwise proven.

Ketirisan undi Cina: MCA salahkan PERKASA?

Pelbagai analisa timbul mengenai ketirisan undi etnik Cina dalam PRK P094 Hulu Selangor baru baru. Calon BN P Kamalanathan dikatakan gagal lebih 2,000 majoriti undi etnik Cina dalam kawasan majoriti Cina. Hari ini, Presiden MCA Dato’ Seri Chua Soi Lek menyalahkan NGO Melayu Pertubuhan Pribumi Perkasa (PERKASA) kerana kegagalan BN meraih undi etnik Cina itu.

Laporan Malaysian Inisder:

MCA blames Perkasa for loss of Chinese support

By Clara Chooi

KUALA LUMPUR, April 27 — The MCA has blamed “organisations like Perkasa” for Barisan Nasional’s failure in recapturing Chinese support, especially in the recent Hulu Selangor by-election.

In a press statement today, party president Datuk Seri Dr Chua Soi Lek (picture) condemned Perkasa chief Datuk Ibrahim Ali’s statement urging the government not to fulfil its pledges of development to the Chinese community.

“I wish to condemn in the strongest terms the statement by the Perkasa chief for asking the government to delay the development allocations to the Chinese community.

“I wish to stress that government money belongs to the people. It should be used for the local community for local development,” Dr Chua said.

In Sunday’s polls, BN’s P. Kamalanathan secured a 1,725-vote majority win over PKR’s Datuk Zaid Ibrahim but failed to recapture votes from the Chinese community.

The BN only secured fewer than 30 per cent of the Chinese votes, down from the 35 per cent it had garnered during Election 2008.

Ibrahim, the Pasir Mas MP,  had capitalised on this and had called the Chinese community “ungrateful.”

He urged the BN government not to fulfil its promises to them.

Ibrahim had also called on the government to ignore demands made by the MCA and Gerakan as punishment for their failure to attract Chinese voters.

Dr Chua said that the Chinese voters of Hulu Selangor should not be punished for their failure to choose the BN in the election.

The MCA president noted that he had already discussed the matter with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak and the latter had given an assurance that he would not take heed of Ibrahim’s demands.

“Najib has given his assurance that the BN will fulfil its pledges of development to the voters of Hulu Selangor. The BN does not renege on its promises,” he claimed.

Dr Chua lambasted Ibrahim for his statement and said that it was organisations like Perkasa that made it difficult for the MCA to get Chinese support for the BN.

“Malaysia will not be able to progress if we continue to have people like Ibrahim Ali who professes to champion along racial lines with disregard to the sensitivity of other communities in the country,” he said.

He added that all politicians should be reminded not to utter remarks that touch on the fabric of culture, religion and race for such actions were contrary to the prime minister’s 1 Malaysia platform.

This is the second time the MCA has been at loggerheads with the Malay rights group, which has the backing of many Umno members and some of its leaders.

When contacted by The Malaysian Insider, Dr Chua said: “Who is Perkasa anyway? They are just an NGO.”

He also blamed the negative campaigning employed by some of the more right-wing members of Umno, many of them Perkasa supporters, for the loss of Chinese support for BN.

Dr Chua claimed that Zaid had only gained further popularity with the Chinese voters when BN attempted to use his drinking past and purported gambling habits to discredit him.

“Zaid is known as a liberal Malay leader. He is popular, especially among the younger generation of voters compared to Kamalanathan, who is just a new leader.

“The attempt to blacken his image with the gambling and drinking allegations would not work in the Chinese community because they do not view these things negatively. In fact, they can better identify with him,” he said.

Meanwhile, Gerakan vice-president Datuk Chang Ko Youn said Ibrahim’s statement was “irresponsible” and accused the independent MP of failing to take cognisance of the reason why the Chinese community had abandoned the BN.

“He should stop making extremist statements and stop trying to alienate the MCA and Gerakan in the BN,” he said.

*********

PERKASA Exco called on PM Dato' Seri Mohd. Najib Tun Razak at PMO

*Perkembangan dikemas kini 1100pm

Kenyataan sms Presiden PERKASA YB Dato’ Ibrahim Ali keatas kenyataan Chua ini:

MCA Presiden Chua Soi Lek should thanks PERKASA coz at least he can blame PERKASA for the failure of MCA to get Chinese to vote BN. PERKASA will not blame MCA coz if adultery and failure to serve Chinese’s at grassroot. Internal problems of MCA also not the cause all is PERKASA. BIG JOKE OF THE YEAR. MCA having meeting with all kinds of Malay NGOs and not making lots of demand. That is not wrong. In the next 13th General Elections, Malay will not vote MCA candidate and the blame will the Chinese NGO like Dong Ziong. Dong and others I make a statement, Govt should hold on the promise make Hulu Selangor coz they are not grateful. Malays were still upset on many things but still support BN. I dont have the power to withdraw the promise. It is upto PM Dato Seri Najib. I just make statement so that they should realize and be thankful. MCA should get a ‘Big Mirror’ stand in front and dont blame others.

TBH sudden death inquest: DAP supporters are desperate

The DAP supporters, who are so adamant believing their leaders that Former-Political-Secretary-to-DAP-Selangor-Exco Teoh Beng Hock are unable to accept the truth. The fact that eminent British pathologist Dr. Peter Vanezis reported from his findings and observation that Teoh was not murdered, did not go down well with these anti-establishment supporters.

British pathologist Dr Peter Vanezis

Now, Dr. Vanezis has been threatened with death via e mail. This morning, he made a Police report.

Bernama.com reports:

April 27, 2010 11:00 AM

British Forensic Expert Gets E-mail Threat

SHAH ALAM, April 27 (Bernama) — British forensic expert Prof Dr Peter Vanezis lodged a police report last night after receiving an intimidating e-mail following his testimony in the Teoh Beng Hock inquest.

The threat against Dr Vanezis was also reported by Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) prosecution chief Datuk Abdul Razak Musa to the inquest which resumed its sitting here today.

Abdul Razak said the e-mail was “offensive, intimidating and threatening” to the British expert who testified for the first time yesterday.

Dr Vanezis was uncomfortable about the e-mail threatening to him and his family, Abdul Razak said.

The police report was made at the Shah Alam Section 11 police station at 11pm.

Dr Vanezis, who had participated in the investigations into the death of British royalty, Princess Diana, is currently engaged by MACC.

He and Thai pathologist Pornthip Rojanasunand — hired by the Selangor government — were observers in a second post-mortem on Teoh’s exhumed remains last November.

He told the inquest yesterday that Teoh was fully conscious when he fell and there was no evidence that the political aide was strangled prior to his death.

Dr Vanezis is scheduled to be cross-examined by counsel Gobind Singh Deo, representing Teoh’s family, today.

Teoh was found dead on the fifth floor of Plaza Masalam here on July 17 last year after questioning by the Selangor MACC, which is located in the same building, as part of investigations into alleged irregular disbursement of state funds.

***************

Yesterday, Dr. Vanezis was reported as giving evidence in the inquiry to ascertain the sudden death of Teoh as  ‘Not being murdered’, against the ultra strong belief amongst many DAP and Pakatan Rakyat supporters who adamantly stubborn even though proven otherwise. The DAP stalwarts even bought into celebrity Thai pathologist who was appointed by the Selangor PR Government Dr. Pornthirp Rojanasunand s unsubstantiated claims that Teoh was ‘80% chance being murdered’.

PR Leaders especially DAP such as Secretary General and Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng, made a lot of hue and cry to a point should be deemed as ‘seditious‘ based on Dr. Pornthirp’s unqualified opinion (just by looking at photos) and pressure the inquest magistrate for a second post mortem. It was deemed purely political but hidden through sleek and fancy legal arguments in court, which the presiding magistrate compelled to allow for the request (in the name of seeking justice).

Masgitrate Azmil Mustaffa ordered a second autopsy for which Sungai Buloh Hospital Chief Pathologist Dr. Shahidan  Md. Noor carried out on 22 November 2009 in the presence of Dr. Peter Vanezis and Dr. Pornthirp.Rojanasunand. However, he did not find any evidence to show that Teoh was murdered but in fact died due to a fall from heights.

Dr. Shahidan found that Teoh died because of injuries sustained due from falling from heights and testified his findings to the inquest. When asked to testify, Dr. Pornthirp gave the excuse  ‘her life is being threatened’ and hence, she refused. Despite giving a guarantee for her safety, she did not turn up to give her professional testimony in the inquest. This is the quality of witness that the DAP Leaders and supporters are banking on. The matter of fact is that, the more controversial and circumstance the witness can be, the better political spin and twist the DAP could ride on.

This act of threatening Dr. Vanezis is very ‘communist’ like behaviour, which has little regard for law and order. Just because it is proven that Teoh was not murdered, hence DAP Leaders can no longer blame MACC for the death of Teoh, then the Chinese Chauvinist and anti-Malay-authority diabolical political agenda  has been stunted.

The DAP has been known for demonising the authorities, especially law enforcement agencies such as the Police, MACC and Judiciary along racial lines when there is a sudden death of a Non Malay linking to these men and women in uniform. The death of a Chinese youth shot by Police right after the may 1969 was used to provoke the wrath of the Malays when they organised a mass demonstration carrying coffins crossing through Kampung Baru, with specific insults to the Malays. As a result, the 13 May 1969 racial riots broke out and it marred a black spot in Malaysian tolerant and co-existence muhibbah history.

When all the usual channels fail, the DAP will resort to the same ‘hatred’ tactics to create chaos and destabilize harmony to a point where peace is gambled. Hence, the instant baseless accusation by DAP Leaders such as Lim Guan Eng and Ronnie Liu casting the MACC officers ‘murdered’ or ‘responsible for the murder’ of Teoh Beng Hock, hours after his lifeless body found sprawling outside the building where Government agencies are housed.

They even organised a rally to drum up support for anti-establishment sentiments. However, it too failed to get the attention of the masses, even amongst Non Malays.

Teoh’s sudden death came at the time where DAP Leaders were investigated for corrupt practices and he was said to be ‘spilling the beans’. The ‘surreal drama’ about “Teoh being murdered by MACC” is probably a diversion as the plot thickens, as the strategy of building up excitement and ‘demonising’ the law enforcement authorities could pre-empt any future actions against their Leaders for pure criminal conduct, as stipulated by the law.

The Police should really look into this death threat against Dr. Vanezis, which is a desperate reaction to a ‘diabolical plan gone wrong’. They should also look into all the serious but wild accusations and seditious statements made by DAP Leaders preceding the sudden death of Teoh. At the monent, the strategy to demonise the law enforcement agencies and create a serious distrust is already working and the authorities should really put a stop to this.

Ezam to be appointed a Senator?

Rumours are spreading that defected former-AMK-Chief and Anwarista Ezam Md. Nor would be appointed as a Senator in the Dewan Negara soon. If the rumour is true, then the reason for the appointment is unclear. However, it was thought to be an ‘incentive’ for the fight against former-abuse-of-power-convict Anwar “Mat King Leather” Ibrahim.

PM 'Flip-Flop' Dato' Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi embraced former AMK Chief Ezam Md. Nor back into UMNO's fold, May 2008

Ezam, who was one of the closest aide to Partyless-Opposition-Leader Anwar “Mat King Leather” Ibrahim defected out of PKR in May 2008 re-join UMNO. The rift between Anwar’s closest aides were strongly detected starting the May 2006 Sarawak State Elections, were ‘money’ was the main issue. It was said that Anwar via his Neo-Con-Jewish friends and connections amassed millions in USD for PKR, particularly facing the first major elections after his acquittal from Federal Court on the sodomy conviction. However, the monies did not trickle down to the grassroot operations during the intense first major PKR elections in Sarawak. To make matters worse, leaders close to Anwar like Azmin Ali and Khalid Ibrahim were given VIP treatment in 5-Star accommodations whilst in Kuching and being ferried in top-of-the-line SUVs.

Of course, the problems of ‘little napolean’ and ‘nepotism’ within PKR and persons closest to Anwar snowballed into bigger and chronic issues. Hence, leaders like YBs Dato’ Seri Zahrain Hashim, Tan Tee Beng and Mohsin Fadzil strengthened the problematic areas which are pointing towards PKR’s self destruction mode.

The defection back into UMNO was not actually welcomed with open arms by some leaders. Some even issued press statement for this. The suspicion against Anwaristas is still strong and the distrust is very apparent, especially when Ezam was labelled as ‘traitors’, equally in the same ranks of Anwar and other Anwaristas for the actions they did to systematically disrupt and destabilize Malaysian political, socio-economical and fabric of society with  their  consistent and veracious lies and provocation of the rakyats’ emotion. Ezam was part of Anwarista-ism for ten years before his defection back into UMNO. There will be certain quarters to question what is Ezam’s contribution for him to be ‘rewarded’. Has Ezam taken the lead and managed to deliver several previous PKR won seats, to redeem his ‘sins’?

Regardless, the development of this rumour is an interesting item to be closely watched.

First BN blogger elected to Dewan Rakyat

Blogger P Kamalanathan: Victor @ P094 Hulu Selangor 25 April 2010

P. Kamalanathan was announced as the winner of the P094 Hulu Selangor by-election a short while ago. The BN candidate is the first pro-BN blogger being elected to the Dewan Rakyat.

Political-novice-MIC-Information-Chief P Kamalanathan polled 24,997 voted beating PKR candidate renowned lawyer and former Minister of Law Dato’ Zaid Ibrahim by 1,725 votes in one of toughest by-elections show down since the 12 GE. This is a shift of 1,923 vote when former-UMNO-Hulu-Langat-Chief turned PKR’s horse Dato Dr Zainal Abidin Ahmad defeated MIC Deputy President and Deputy Minister Dato’ G. Palanivel by 198 votes majority on 8 March 2008 12th General Elections. The shift marks a 1,000 % ‘reverse shift’ (improvement) of the rakyat’s perception towards BN and an endorsement that PM Dato’ Seri Mohd. Najib Tun Razak’s ‘1 Malaysia’ acceptability and starting to gain place in Malaysian hearts.

He is the first ‘hard core’ pro-BN blogger to be elected into Dewan Rakyat compared to the Oppositions namely YB Jeff Ooi and YB Tony Pua. In the 12th General Elections, many anti-BN bloggers such as Nik Nazmi, Elizabeth Wong and Haniza Talha were given the honour to challenge BN under DAP and PKR tickets, at the time where the average educated and urban rakyat were simply fed-up with the ruling party and the deep distrust to the mainstream media turned them towards the new media. In fact it was deemed fashionable that bloggers apart from activists, were honoured in the age of new media and socio-political bloggosphere actually made an impact in the perception game and setting of mind shift on the voting pattern. Even for BN bloggers were openly against PM ‘Flip-Flop’ Dato’ Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi’s weak administration and sheer arrogance.

As the result from part contribution of bloggers, BN saw the ‘Political Tsunami’ trampled them in 5 + 1 states and for the first time since general elections held in 1955, the ruling party did not manage to retain the psychological 2/3 majority in the Dewan Rakyat.

The Rawang born lad was a PR Manager with Seri Wangi Sdn. Bhd. (subsidiary of  Bernas Bhd. and owner of the rice  brand “Jati”), when PM Dato’ Seri Najib chose him to be the BN candidate of P094. His nomination almost came with resistance from MIC, which wanted to field once-veteran-of-four-GE Palanivel. At the time when MIC President Dato’ Seri S. Samy. Vellu was insistent on Palanivel’s candidacy, being a loyal party-man openly Kamalanathan supported Palanivel be BN’s choice..

May the presence of this new YB colour and enrich the world of socio-political bloggosphere in Malaysia. We at BigDogDotCom pray that 45 year old Kamalanathan be made a Deputy Minister in the next Cabinet reshuffle, as part of MIC’s succession planning and PM Dato’ Seri Najib’s acknowledgment to bloggers and the role of the new media, in the deliverance of ‘1 Malaysia’ message and implementation.

Tahniah Yang Berhormat. Terima kasih pengundi P094 Hulu Selangor. Nandri, Nandri, Wenakem.

P094 Hulu Selangor votes a photo finish

After an intense campaigning for more than two weeks, where BN Chairman PM Dato’ Seri Mohd, Najib Tun Razak made appearances twice in his ultra busy schedule running the nation and trips abroad Pakatan Rakyat bigwigs such as PAS Spiritual Leader Nik Aziz dan DAP Emperor-for-life Lim Kit Siang  jumping onto the campaign bandwagon, things are very dicey for both side. There is no clear indication who will come out as victors representing parliamentary constituency of Hulu Selangor, unlike the immediate PRK DUN Bagan Pinang.

During the 8 March 2008 12th General Elections, P094 Hulu Selangor voted for PKR’s Dato’ Dr. Zainal Abidin Ahmad, who was the former Selangor State Government Exco and UMNO Hulu Langat Division Chief over BN’s Dato’ G. Palanivel, who was a former Deputy Minister and current MIC Deputy President by a slim majority of 198 votes. Out of 63, 593 registered voters, only 75.24% turned out to vote. The campaign trail became interesting when so many PKR leaders and members ‘jumped out’ of the multiracial party citing the same reasons previously stated by earlier disgruntled and ‘awakened’ leaders. To add more into the interesting node, Fourth Prime Minister Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad lent a hand in BN’s campaign. This is part of BN’s strategy along PM Dato’ Seri Najib’s ‘1 Malaysia’ of ‘rakyat’s first’. PKR has been proven to do dirty tactics, like expected in this campaign.

So far, reports from various angles and research only calculated that BN has a 55:45 chance lead over PKR.  As of print time, party workers of both sides are busy ensuring voter turn out is good. The Police are working extra hard to ensure the voting process is smooth, like making sure traffic flow is good and no untoward incidences will happen that will hinder voters to come out and exercise the constitutional rights. If 80% of the 65,000 voters turn up to vote and spolit votes is minimal, then at 55% chance BN’s P Kamalanathan  should be getting a comfortable 4,000 majority. There is between 9-11% ‘fence sitters’, who are thought to be the deciding factor in this really tight race. This accounts for 6,000-7,000 votes where the campaign from both camps were intensified on.

The Oppositions especially PKR and some militant PAS Youths might resort to uncanny dirty tactics in their deperate attempt to win, especially after the calculations towards the second half of the day. They are known to start a scruffle, especially in the intense exchange of harsh words probably outside polling centres. This will definitely scare of voters. Another usual tactic is to clog up the traffic and frustrate process to ferry voters to the polling centres. This move is strategic for the P094 by-elections since the Hulu Selangor polling centres are centred along the Kuala Lumpur-Tanjung Malim trunk road. The same tactics were first seen in the June 2000 Telok Kemang parlimentary by-elections. BN’s success in any by-elections is usually accredited to high voter turn out.

The pressure is seriously mountimg against defacto PR leader Partyless-Opposition-Leader Amwar “Mat King Leather” Ibrahim. the loss of P094 will further deepen the spiralling conundrum that he is facing with his PKR party, the ‘unholy-marriage-of-(in)convenience’ Pakatan Rakyat inter party differences and ‘squabbles’ and his own personal problems: The upcoming trial for sodomy and the Parliamentary select committee for wrongful allegations against PM Dato’ Seri Najib in the Dewan Rakyat.

It looks like it will be a photo finish although some optimistically predicted a 3,000 majority in favour of likeable and approachable MIC Information Chief P. Kamalanathan, especially after PM Dato’ Seri Najib shared a finale platform last night at Bukit Beruntung with Tun Dr. Mahathir in front of 15,000 people. Results would be expected by 900pm.

*Updated 1200 noon

As of 1100am, 38 % voter turn out was recorded. BN is intensifying efforts to achieve at least 80% turn out to ensure victory.

*Updated 300pm

As of 200pm, 63% voter turn out was recorded. Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Mohd. Yasin is urging voters to come out before the daily evening rain started to pour and hinders tthe polling process. Unconfirmed reports have started to come in via phone calls that Damansara Utama DAP ADUN Dr Cheah Wing Yin has succumbed to death, from a car accident he did not recover from. We at BigDogDotCom are still waiting for the confirmation of this report. If the report is true, then there will be a first by-election since the 12GE in the Peninsular Malaysia involving a DAP candidate, which should be interesting. DUN Damansara Utama is 83% Chinese majority urban population.

*Updated 400pm

The Oppositions’ desperation is now reflected in the ‘militant’ approach which they are known for being deployed. Police arrested six of them outside a polling station, in a Malay majority area.

Cops arrest 6 ‘outsiders’ for disrupting peace at polling centres

By SIRA HABIBU

KUALA KUBU BARU: Police have arrested six ‘outsiders’ for disrupting the peace riot outside polling stations in Hulu Selangor.

Selangor police chief DCP Datuk Khalid Abu Bakar said five of them were arrested in Kampung Sungai Buaya.

“They were throwing bottles, and one man even punched someone, injuring his forehead.

“Another was arrested elswhere at about noon,” he told a press conference on Sunday.

Khalid said all those arrested were in their 20s, and none of them were local residents.

He also said that a Malaysiakini reporter would be called in for questioning for making a false report that caused unnecessary alarm and fear.

“The alternative media’s report that 25 people were arrested for carrying dangerous weapons is untrue.

“We want to take action against the media as such reports cause unnecessary fear and alarm among the voters.

“We are calling in the reporter for questioning. We want to know who fed the false information,” he said.

He said the media should verify all information with the police.

“We are here 24 hours. Check with us to verify the information,” he said.

DCP Khalid also guaranteed the safety of the voters.

“The police have taken all measures to secure safety and security,” he said, adding that, so far, no voters had lodged any complaint.

He said that up to noon Sunday, police had arrested 32 people for various offences.

“We have, so far, received 195 reports, and we are investigating 35 cases,” he said.

IGP Tan Sri Musa Hassan, who was also in the constituency, said the situation in Hulu Selangor was under control.

“Balloting process in the centres are running smoothly,” he said, adding supporters were civilised at the places he visited on Sunday morning.
