Pelbagai analisa timbul mengenai ketirisan undi etnik Cina dalam PRK P094 Hulu Selangor baru baru. Calon BN P Kamalanathan dikatakan gagal lebih 2,000 majoriti undi etnik Cina dalam kawasan majoriti Cina. Hari ini, Presiden MCA Dato’ Seri Chua Soi Lek menyalahkan NGO Melayu Pertubuhan Pribumi Perkasa (PERKASA) kerana kegagalan BN meraih undi etnik Cina itu.

KUALA LUMPUR, April 27 — The MCA has blamed “organisations like Perkasa” for Barisan Nasional’s failure in recapturing Chinese support, especially in the recent Hulu Selangor by-election.
In a press statement today, party president Datuk Seri Dr Chua Soi Lek (picture) condemned Perkasa chief Datuk Ibrahim Ali’s statement urging the government not to fulfil its pledges of development to the Chinese community.
“I wish to condemn in the strongest terms the statement by the Perkasa chief for asking the government to delay the development allocations to the Chinese community.
“I wish to stress that government money belongs to the people. It should be used for the local community for local development,” Dr Chua said.
In Sunday’s polls, BN’s P. Kamalanathan secured a 1,725-vote majority win over PKR’s Datuk Zaid Ibrahim but failed to recapture votes from the Chinese community.
The BN only secured fewer than 30 per cent of the Chinese votes, down from the 35 per cent it had garnered during Election 2008.
Ibrahim, the Pasir Mas MP, had capitalised on this and had called the Chinese community “ungrateful.”
He urged the BN government not to fulfil its promises to them.
Ibrahim had also called on the government to ignore demands made by the MCA and Gerakan as punishment for their failure to attract Chinese voters.
Dr Chua said that the Chinese voters of Hulu Selangor should not be punished for their failure to choose the BN in the election.
The MCA president noted that he had already discussed the matter with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak and the latter had given an assurance that he would not take heed of Ibrahim’s demands.
“Najib has given his assurance that the BN will fulfil its pledges of development to the voters of Hulu Selangor. The BN does not renege on its promises,” he claimed.
Dr Chua lambasted Ibrahim for his statement and said that it was organisations like Perkasa that made it difficult for the MCA to get Chinese support for the BN.
“Malaysia will not be able to progress if we continue to have people like Ibrahim Ali who professes to champion along racial lines with disregard to the sensitivity of other communities in the country,” he said.
He added that all politicians should be reminded not to utter remarks that touch on the fabric of culture, religion and race for such actions were contrary to the prime minister’s 1 Malaysia platform.
This is the second time the MCA has been at loggerheads with the Malay rights group, which has the backing of many Umno members and some of its leaders.
When contacted by The Malaysian Insider, Dr Chua said: “Who is Perkasa anyway? They are just an NGO.”
He also blamed the negative campaigning employed by some of the more right-wing members of Umno, many of them Perkasa supporters, for the loss of Chinese support for BN.
Dr Chua claimed that Zaid had only gained further popularity with the Chinese voters when BN attempted to use his drinking past and purported gambling habits to discredit him.
“Zaid is known as a liberal Malay leader. He is popular, especially among the younger generation of voters compared to Kamalanathan, who is just a new leader.
“The attempt to blacken his image with the gambling and drinking allegations would not work in the Chinese community because they do not view these things negatively. In fact, they can better identify with him,” he said.
Meanwhile, Gerakan vice-president Datuk Chang Ko Youn said Ibrahim’s statement was “irresponsible” and accused the independent MP of failing to take cognisance of the reason why the Chinese community had abandoned the BN.
“He should stop making extremist statements and stop trying to alienate the MCA and Gerakan in the BN,” he said.

PERKASA Exco called on PM Dato' Seri Mohd. Najib Tun Razak at PMO

MCA Presiden Chua Soi Lek should thanks PERKASA coz at least he can blame PERKASA for the failure of MCA to get Chinese to vote BN. PERKASA will not blame MCA coz if adultery and failure to serve Chinese’s at grassroot. Internal problems of MCA also not the cause all is PERKASA. BIG JOKE OF THE YEAR. MCA having meeting with all kinds of Malay NGOs and not making lots of demand. That is not wrong. In the next 13th General Elections, Malay will not vote MCA candidate and the blame will the Chinese NGO like Dong Ziong. Dong and others I make a statement, Govt should hold on the promise make Hulu Selangor coz they are not grateful. Malays were still upset on many things but still support BN. I dont have the power to withdraw the promise. It is upto PM Dato Seri Najib. I just make statement so that they should realize and be thankful. MCA should get a ‘Big Mirror’ stand in front and dont blame others.
Tok Him, PERKASA
P094 Hulu Selangor votes a photo finish
After an intense campaigning for more than two weeks, where BN Chairman PM Dato’ Seri Mohd, Najib Tun Razak made appearances twice in his ultra busy schedule running the nation and trips abroad Pakatan Rakyat bigwigs such as PAS Spiritual Leader Nik Aziz dan DAP Emperor-for-life Lim Kit Siang jumping onto the campaign bandwagon, things are very dicey for both side. There is no clear indication who will come out as victors representing parliamentary constituency of Hulu Selangor, unlike the immediate PRK DUN Bagan Pinang.
During the 8 March 2008 12th General Elections, P094 Hulu Selangor voted for PKR’s Dato’ Dr. Zainal Abidin Ahmad, who was the former Selangor State Government Exco and UMNO Hulu Langat Division Chief over BN’s Dato’ G. Palanivel, who was a former Deputy Minister and current MIC Deputy President by a slim majority of 198 votes. Out of 63, 593 registered voters, only 75.24% turned out to vote. The campaign trail became interesting when so many PKR leaders and members ‘jumped out’ of the multiracial party citing the same reasons previously stated by earlier disgruntled and ‘awakened’ leaders. To add more into the interesting node, Fourth Prime Minister Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad lent a hand in BN’s campaign. This is part of BN’s strategy along PM Dato’ Seri Najib’s ‘1 Malaysia’ of ‘rakyat’s first’. PKR has been proven to do dirty tactics, like expected in this campaign.
So far, reports from various angles and research only calculated that BN has a 55:45 chance lead over PKR. As of print time, party workers of both sides are busy ensuring voter turn out is good. The Police are working extra hard to ensure the voting process is smooth, like making sure traffic flow is good and no untoward incidences will happen that will hinder voters to come out and exercise the constitutional rights. If 80% of the 65,000 voters turn up to vote and spolit votes is minimal, then at 55% chance BN’s P Kamalanathan should be getting a comfortable 4,000 majority. There is between 9-11% ‘fence sitters’, who are thought to be the deciding factor in this really tight race. This accounts for 6,000-7,000 votes where the campaign from both camps were intensified on.
The Oppositions especially PKR and some militant PAS Youths might resort to uncanny dirty tactics in their deperate attempt to win, especially after the calculations towards the second half of the day. They are known to start a scruffle, especially in the intense exchange of harsh words probably outside polling centres. This will definitely scare of voters. Another usual tactic is to clog up the traffic and frustrate process to ferry voters to the polling centres. This move is strategic for the P094 by-elections since the Hulu Selangor polling centres are centred along the Kuala Lumpur-Tanjung Malim trunk road. The same tactics were first seen in the June 2000 Telok Kemang parlimentary by-elections. BN’s success in any by-elections is usually accredited to high voter turn out.
The pressure is seriously mountimg against defacto PR leader Partyless-Opposition-Leader Amwar “Mat King Leather” Ibrahim. the loss of P094 will further deepen the spiralling conundrum that he is facing with his PKR party, the ‘unholy-marriage-of-(in)convenience’ Pakatan Rakyat inter party differences and ‘squabbles’ and his own personal problems: The upcoming trial for sodomy and the Parliamentary select committee for wrongful allegations against PM Dato’ Seri Najib in the Dewan Rakyat.
It looks like it will be a photo finish although some optimistically predicted a 3,000 majority in favour of likeable and approachable MIC Information Chief P. Kamalanathan, especially after PM Dato’ Seri Najib shared a finale platform last night at Bukit Beruntung with Tun Dr. Mahathir in front of 15,000 people. Results would be expected by 900pm.
*Updated 1200 noon
As of 1100am, 38 % voter turn out was recorded. BN is intensifying efforts to achieve at least 80% turn out to ensure victory.
*Updated 300pm
As of 200pm, 63% voter turn out was recorded. Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Mohd. Yasin is urging voters to come out before the daily evening rain started to pour and hinders tthe polling process. Unconfirmed reports have started to come in via phone calls that Damansara Utama DAP ADUN Dr Cheah Wing Yin has succumbed to death, from a car accident he did not recover from. We at BigDogDotCom are still waiting for the confirmation of this report. If the report is true, then there will be a first by-election since the 12GE in the Peninsular Malaysia involving a DAP candidate, which should be interesting. DUN Damansara Utama is 83% Chinese majority urban population.
*Updated 400pm
The Oppositions’ desperation is now reflected in the ‘militant’ approach which they are known for being deployed. Police arrested six of them outside a polling station, in a Malay majority area.
The Star reports:
* Updated Monday 26 April 2010 1200noon
A call to Petaling Jaya Utara MP’s office confirmed that the rumour about the passing of YB Dr Cheah was not true. In fact he was said to have improved and moved to regular wards.
